It's actually considered a sequel to a different Mili song Rosetta, but that one comes from an album called Mag Mell. In Rosetta, a mother seems to speak to the titular character and her daughter, waring her about the dangers of the world. Here, we learn that Rosetta didn't listen to her mother's pleas and experienced the harshness of the world herself. She sings to her sister Camelia to stop her from making the same mistakes. Though in both cases, the lesson seems to be mixed with a rather unhealthy family dynamic.
in my completely amateur guessing, camelia seems to be on Rosetta’s experience with love and how it scarred and jaded her, and telling her sister, right after saving her. how she poured herself for her lover and friends, how it didn’t fare well for her. either lover or friends turning abusive to her, leaving her scarred on some manner. how she tells her sister “no need to act tough, nobody is born a fighter”, sounds like rosetta’s lover maybe met camelia and tried flirt with her and at times trying to coerce her by means of violence. Rosetta, who had been obedient out of fear, rebelled to protect her sister, and the wounds in her heart simply pushed her to take extreme measures (bang bang), but the scars already set on her heart, so now she could warn her sister camelia.
For the uninitiated: i skip music video versions because whether or not they assist the story, the severe ADHD brain tremors makes it near impossible to focus on both at the same time. I end up overstimulated and have to watch like 4 times which takes significantly longer to record and ends up affecting my interest/opinion negatively. it's best to just listen solo 🫠
Kinda wish you had watched the music video with the lyrics, but man do I love this song. This is definitely the most different song from Mili, and it's one of my favorites
While patches of violet is surely the most antisipated song from mili atm i'm goin to give you 2 other songs in case you are interested in something lighter from mili: colourful, is wonderful song that is so out of place next to the theme of their other songs that i must assume mili was feeling conserned about giving their listeners depression. And meatball submarine song as wacky as it's name and i for one refuce to belive it has any underline dark messages
You should listen to Gunners in the Rain also by Mili, its also very different from her typical stuff and my personal favorite (the guitar is absolutely amazing)
For something pretty different by Mili, maybe check out "What Robots Need", which is currently the only song by their new group AWAAWA. The only thing similar to it is Children of the City. (warning that the video and lyrics are explicit)
