Hello from Australia Chard 😁. It took 5 years before I found that the rear hatch also has a small lock button next to the open button, I was always having to get the key fob out to lock it after I opened the hatch to put something in! 😜. Thanks for the video!
Hello Salma L, if you don't have the manual for your vehicle you can download it from Honda website - here you go owners.honda.com/vehicle-information/manuals
Here's one more feature that didn't made it into the video, if you turn your intermitting wipe blades to max they will run constantly while driving and stop when you stop. Try it
That option is available in the System Settings - Language. But I can only change mine in USA to the English, French & Spanish. Maybe in other regions the language choices are different.
I have a 2019 hrv exl. It does not have the option to start the car from the keyless entry. What year or what trim are u talking about. Also I can't open the trunk with the keyless entry. The ring color can't be changed the way you said it. I have to do it through vehicle settings. Not sure what you have there
The features I'm talking about in this video is pertaining to the 2016 EX model in which I mention in the beginning of the video and description, the remote start is an optional installation with the Honda dealer, it's not standard on the HRV. Honda has made changes from one model year to another, so I understand things are different from the 2016 to the 2019, that's out of my control
Thanks for the video. A couple questions. I always like the feature of remote key fob to roll down the windows while walking to the car in the hot day. I don't seem able to do with HRV2019 and if there is a way to do or install it? Also, if I set the headlight to Auto, I don't like when locking the car, the headlight is flashing. Is there a way to configure or disable that other than setting the headlight to manual. Thx!
Thank you VB Coach, yeah unfortunately Honda didn't add that feature to the HRV like they did with the Accord for instance. No to the headlights too, I . haven't found a way to do that either. Those are not user accessible options.
Thanks 06:55 I exit my car with my keys engine running and if I close all my door I always hear that beep ... any tips on what it is or if I could turn it off?
Thanks for informative video. I didn't know some of them. Question (I have also a 2016 HRV): my car has stopped beeping recently when I push the lock bottun twice on the fob. Do you know how I can fix it? Now, I should always double check whether all doors are locked or not since I don't hear the beep.
The only other thing I can think of is the hood, check it to make sure you didn't pop the hood by accident. I know that will prevent the beep also. Let me know if that fix it.

But maybe it would be nice if they offered an SI turbocharged version.

Hey Chard The Guy Tech, great review, if you had to choose between honda hrv ex 2019 and toyota rav4 2018, which one will you choose? Which one would you recommend to a new driver? Thank you!
Hello Jean Claude Junior Anastil, the Honda HRV and Toyota RAV are in two different class. The RAV4 actually compares to the Honda CRV, because of size and engine power. Honda & Toyota makes reliable vehicles, so the choice boils down to size and horsepower. I chose the HRV because of the gas-saving feature and the perfect size for me, plus I'm a Honda man, nothing against Toyota, I like the styling of the Hondas. So I will always recommend the Honda, but can't go wrong with Toyota either, but remember the RAV4 is much bigger than the HRV.
SweetxRisha no oil pressure gauge. Also the percent is not the percent of oil but rather what percentage of oil life is remaining. Once u reach 20% you will get a message annoying you on each start that you need to change the oil.

And the parts I wan upgrade to I say remote start headlight fog lights and that’s outside part and more body weight to it and the inside part change this old ass car radio into touch screen and the heater and ac into touch screen also and maybe add the walk away lock doors to what you think a bout that question is it good or bad or worth doing from a person that has a HR-v because my HR-v is a Lx 2018 basic model with no sun rooftop I was thinking can I add one if it’s not one already in my car my bad for the long comment lol
Chard The Tech Guy if I can say I don’t want the lx and ask for a sport they will say I can end my lease to soon or I will have to pay more just to get a new car so I guess just to upgrade it will be a lot more cheaper to go out and get a new 2019

@@ChardTheTechGuy Ok, thanks for the info. I just got mine, so I'm not completely sure about all the features.
@@a.n.g6557 No problem. what year if you don't mind me asking?
@@ChardTheTechGuy 2019.
Nice HR-V! Great video. Can you please share what tint specs you went with? Looks great 👍
Great tips. Thank you!
+C Cordero you're welcome.
Thanks so much! That was very helpful!
Welcome
I don't have an EX but my 6 speed manual LX does most of these (Of course without remote start because manual)
Yes you are right - I tried the basic things - the remote start was additional
@@ChardTheTechGuy thank you again for your quick response, do you think the Honda EX 2019 would be a great choice?
Yes, it's right in the middle (the sweet spot) when it comes to features - go give it a test drive and tell me what you think.
@@ChardTheTechGuy i would love to, but it is not avalaible at piazza honda in my city yet, i will have to wait next month they said or december😣
Okay, just be patient if you can.
Just to let you know about #10. You can still lock your keys in the vehicle. I’ve done it.
That's strange, I tired mine today again and it still won't let me do it, what year model do you have?
Do you like the CVT? Do you have to service it?
It's okay, it's great on gas mileage but slow on take off if you are lead foot/
@@ChardTheTechGuy When do you change the fluid in it?
@@7inchsoldier397 I'm not sure, so far they haven't said anything at the dealership
@@ChardTheTechGuy Oh ok, I thought maybe there was a service interval on the CVT.
@@7inchsoldier397 I will try to find out that info from the dealership and get back with you.
Excellent review
Thank you kindly Glad you enjoyed it
How much it cost you to install the remote start?
It was an additional $399 cost, not sure how much the labor cost was, it was included in the purchase cost.
Does the car have an oil temperature gauge? I didn't see one while watching your lovely video :)
Oil Percentage Gauge Only
SweetxRisha no oil pressure gauge. Also the percent is not the percent of oil but rather what percentage of oil life is remaining. Once u reach 20% you will get a message annoying you on each start that you need to change the oil.
Can somebody tell me where is the USB port location is? 🙏
Hi Ibad Taylor, It's right under the shift knob column, it's like a bridge - i.gaw.to/content/photos/19/11/191126_2016_Honda_HR-V.jpg
Hello ! I am French speaking and I use google translation :-) sorry!
My alarm goes off alone ... do you have a solution? We have owned a hr-v 2016 since yesterday and at 3 times the alarm sounded for no reason.
ps. thanks for your informative video!
Johanne H. Aubin I have a 2017 HRV and the same thing happened to me. Any loud noises or cars running under the car would trigger the alarm for the first few weeks. I took it back to the Honda Dealer and they had to adjust it for me. Hope this helps.
Make sure all door and hood is closed i would take it to dealer ur hood sensor might won't be working its happend some time ..
I have one other question, where is the hot and cold temperature gauge
Unfortunately, you are out of luck there - doesn't exist on these models.
@@ChardTheTechGuy Oh Goodness, so what'll happen if the car runs hot?!? Will we even know?!? 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
@@a.n.g6557 Yeah shocking! I think the temperature icon that pop-up on the dash when you start up will be the only indicator.
Well the HRV is lik an oversized version of the Fit n lik d Fit there is no temperature gauge🤷🏿♂️...so go figure
What up man quick question is it worth it if I upgraded my car to from 2018 part to 2019 part but it’s a lease owner car and I have it for 2 more years like 2020 my lease will be up but I don’t wanna give it back I wanna traded it in for a different car say like Acura.
Sha Money, I would upgrade to EX 2018, it's probably cheaper or if you really want 2019, I would go with the Sport.
Chard The Tech Guy if I can say I don’t want the lx and ask for a sport they will say I can end my lease to soon or I will have to pay more just to get a new car so I guess just to upgrade it will be a lot more cheaper to go out and get a new 2019
#10 - My 2016 HRV EX locked me out twice, in the winter. So I keep the keys on me all the time.
Wow, I wonder how. I tried severals times to do and mine will not do it. Sorry to hear that, have you tried taking it back to dealer and finding out why?
Mine only does it when I start it with my (after market) remote start. Do you have an after market remote starter?
I want to love this car so badly but I just cant get over the moan drone and feel of the cvt it makes me upset..and don't say get a manual cause I want an ex-l
I understand CVT is not for everyone
@@ChardTheTechGuy my perspective has now changed...I love the cvt I spent some time with one and once you learn how to drive it ..its good
It’s boring and noisy and rides like I’m on a board. Seats are not meant for long trips but it’s a very good daily commuter. I went from a Mustang to the HR-V so that is tainting my opinion.
@@connieward2042 sorry for your loss
@@Jag-leaper it was a tragedy
Why gas do you use?
87 octane
love my HR-V!
Same here
You still have the Honda HRV?
Not anymore, sold it Nov 2020 for the Kia Telluride.

Hello. How do I change ringtone in car. When some one calls me. Thank you
I haven't seen an option for that.
@@ChardTheTechGuy because when some one calls me on my phine it goes straight to Bluetooth. The ringtone killing my ears. Its so ugly ring omg
I understand what you mean, but Honda didn't provide the option to choose like the did with the ring color, strange.

I was thinking the same thing, especially when he said, "like a seh..."
I didn't know about the gas cap holder!
how to turn on walk away auto door lock in 2016 honda HRV?
Sorry, Johny that feature is not available on that year model, it's available on the latest editions.
"My color is red."
Yeah I tried all the colors, but the red is my fav too.
Great vid loaded with nice tips. But if you can tell me how to shut up the computer lady who shouts at me to put my seat belt on when Im just backing my car out of the garage to wash it- THAT would be most excellent! LOL.
Thank you very much, I wish I know how to do that, mine just dings at me.

You forgot to mention that some of these feature are only available on the EX model only and not the Honda HR-V LX model.

So the last one doesn't work on mine, I threw the keys on the passenger seat once and loaded the kids through the trunk (they like climbing over the seats) when I closed the trunk the car locked... with the kids inside. Thankfully one of them was able to unlock the car but scary moment
