I love your channel! The reviews are genuine, wholesome, and informative 🥰 I’ve used this lens on both my m50 and r7. The lens noise was definitely a problem for me. But the image quality is definitely unmatched! Great video 🤎 never stop please.
Yup. It is a bit nosy when shooting video. Had to use portal sound recorder. My other con is the native EF-M adapter. I find it to be a bit slow with the Sigma 18-35mm on my Canon M series. I do wish Canon made a better one or had some sort of software update.
Hey, great review! I am really doubting wheter to get this lens for my m50. Portability and weight is what is holding me back. You mentioned you would rather recommend prime lenses. Which one would you recommend? Already have the nifty fifty. Thanks in advance! Greetings
Yeah! For portability and price you can't beat the Sigma 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm. They all are a native M-mount and have a super fast f1.4 apature. I'd recommend any of those lenses and I have reviews on the 16mm and the 30mm, so feel free to check those out!
That was a great review of a truly great versatile lens. I use it all the time with my Canon R7 and although on the heavy side the results far outweigh the weight.
Pentax user here. Works fantastic on my K-3m3. So glad I got it--had to replace my 16-50 f2.8 PLM lens that has started to loosen the inner elements due to suction from robust weather sealing.
I have M5 with combo 24mm EF-S and 50mm, drawback is to interchange lenses and lack of wide-angle. Anyway long live series M. You mentioned you shoot weddings, did you grade colour or just use profile in camera?? Thanks
@@AndrewKnepper Thanks, normally I use neutral profile and make adjustments in video editor. I guess is the best. Sometimes I use Cinestyle for the look, although I end up increasing contrast and saturation and Im not very convinced.
Great review... I just need your opinion as i want to buy this lens for canon 80d, i have heard from many reviewrs that this lens get focus issues on canon 80d, can i have your honest opinion for this as i want to buy this lens for both photo and video, it will really help me if you replys soon for this, thank you ♥️
Hey! I haven't experienced many issues with the auto focus, but I do have newer cameras and it probably depends on the camera more than the lenses. That being said it has been a great lens from my experience!
I am just getting started and I have a canon rebel t2i I got back in 2012. I was looking to buy this lens but it has an EFS mount. Would I need an adapter for this lens?
@@AndrewKnepper Which is better for Canon R50 - 18 - 35 or 18 - 50 f2.8. Is the lens improved or similar so that I could choose f1.8 for a better bokeh
Yes it would mount to your camera, however you will have vignetting. I think there is a way in settings to crop the sensor in to make it equivalent to an APS-C sized sensor but I'm not particularly sure how that works.
@@AndrewKnepper I use a Sony A6100. When I click on the AF, it's not an option.... Can't click on it. Where is the A/M switch? Is it physically on the lens? or in the software of the camera? I really hope to get the AF to work....
Can you please help me understand the difference between this one and the Sigma Classic 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens. I’m trying to get one for my rebel t7i and I’m just so confused because I can not find anything about what is different

Thank you so much!! This comment made my day!
Do you think 35mm is not enough? Should i just get 24-70mm?
Works well on R10 and R7,which I own.likes sitting in the bag next to the 10-20 f3.5 Sigma.
Awesome setup!
Do you have to use an adapter when shooting with the R7, if it's made for APS-C sensor?
@@StephenProffittR7 is APS-C but this lens is for an EF, so you’d have to get an adapter to RF for the R7

Nice review, Andrew. I purchased this lens secondhand yesterday. Hoping to learn more about how to use it!

Still my favorite lense

It's amazing how many different brands users all agree this lens rocks!

I shoot on the standard video profile and then add luts to the footage when I edit the video!

I know this is an old video but I found it on sale brand new for 400~ USD, will it fit on my EOS 250D?
Yeah if the lens is an EF mount
Great review...

@@AndrewKnepper thank you so much for your valuable feedback, should i buy this lens for my canon 80d ?
On this shoot, which lenses were you using? Thank you
I shoot all my TH-cam videos with the Sigma 16mm F1.4, which in my opinion is probably the best M-Mount lens!
I am just getting started and I have a canon rebel t2i I got back in 2012. I was looking to buy this lens but it has an EFS mount. Would I need an adapter for this lens?
Yeah this lens will mount to your camera! No adapter needed!
@@AndrewKnepper Awesome! Thank you!
Can i use this Canon 200 d mark ||
Absolutely!
If I buy the sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens for canon ef what would I need to put this lens on my GH5? Im new to this
You'll need an EF to Micro 4/3 adapter to use this EF version mount!
@@AndrewKnepper thanks
I have rebel SL3 and the mounts are different, what adaptor do i need?
You won't need any adapters with this in the EF mount
Been debating between getting this and the 35mm. They're both around the same price on sale.
The zoom lens will give you a bit more flexibility, the 30mm will be more portable.
Is this lense compatible with m50 mark ii? Would you recommend for m50 mark ii?
If you grab an EF-M adapter it will work and yes I'd recommend this lens!
@@AndrewKnepper Which is better for Canon R50 - 18 - 35 or 18 - 50 f2.8. Is the lens improved or similar so that I could choose f1.8 for a better bokeh
I have the 1dx mk 3 which is full frame. Would this work for it?
Yes it would mount to your camera, however you will have vignetting. I think there is a way in settings to crop the sensor in to make it equivalent to an APS-C sized sensor but I'm not particularly sure how that works.
I have this lens, but I can't get the autofocus to work... Does this lens not support autofocus, or is there a way to fix this?
So there is an A/M switch that could not be on auto focus. What camera are you using? It definitely should work!

How do you think it works on Canon R7?
It would work great on the R7 which has IBIS
Excellent video 😮!
Thank you!
can this fit onto canon 250d?
That’s a nice camera cage
Yes it is! It's from SmallRig
does it work on r50? tnx
Yeah with an EF-RF adapter!
Is this good for canon r50?
Yes, but I'd recommend the Sigma 18-50mm more and it's about the same price!
@@AndrewKnepper could you expound why 18-50 mm is better?
just to confirm, the lens doesn't have any kind of stabilization, correct? asking since my a6400 body doesn't have in-body stabilization:(
Yeah unfortunately no image stabilization...
Great review! Can you share what gimbal did you use for your m50 paired with this lens?
I don't use gimbals, but I usually shoot in 60fps for b-roll and slow it down to 30fps and add image stabilizer when editing! Works well for me!
It will fit on normal viltrox adapter?
Yeah, you can't use the speed booster because then you'll get vignetting, but the regular EF-M mount adapter works great!
@@AndrewKnepper Thank you
Im debating on whether to get this or 18-55 f2.8 by canon, its a tough choice 😥
what did you end up choosing?

What kind of lens are you looking for? A prime lens or zoom lens?
