The way he so indignantly responds to the suggestions regulatory agencies would investigate politicians and their families shows how it's taken for given that laws just shouldn't apply to powerful people.
It was a really good discussion with PSA, I enjoyed listening to the whole thing. I loved the comments, so many people were like “never heard of this Hasan guy but he talks sense! Get him on more!” Well done.
Just wanted to say that I appreciated you being on PSA and speaking with Lovett. The conversation made me uncomfortable, but in a good way. It got me to step back a moment and ask myself why I was thinking the way I was. Didn't agree with everything, but that's ok. You and PSA both agree on enough points that it can be helpful way to move the conversation forward with a nuance that isn't always discussed. Hope they ask you back soon.
Parts with Lovett that deeply frustrated me, but they never took away from the fact that I was grateful that they were allowing the conversation to even happened in the first place. Also, they gave a reasonable effort to give each other the space to speak.
@Cleverconveyence Agreed! It was a good interview with an actual back and forth that was very refreshing to hear that did not devolve into shouting or ad hominem.
Despite being faaaar to the left of PSA, I genuinely like Jon Lovett, but his entire manner of speaking is so much different talking to Hasan. He feels so on edge.
Probs cos he’s smart enough to know hasan is right but disagrees because of xyz personal/public reasons and it makes him uncomfortable Also im far left too so he lost me when i heard he was a Zionist 😭😭, but to each their own
Bro said anti zionism isnt a path to palestinian emancipation. I fully understand giving room for people to be wrong, learn, basic conversation skills... but id even have a hard time navigating that mentality.
I think he's a secular liberal zio like Ethan. It's complicated bc like Seth Rogen said there's so many lie and propaganda that they feed you about Israel since childhood. At least he's not spiraling like Ethan.
people who try to police others leftistly really come across anti social hasan is right. i have control over myself and i can educate my friends and family and encourage them to follow the boycotts, but you can’t just expect strangers to. and bringing that into things really can nuke a convo where otherwise you would find common ground and maybe that person would change their mind after learning more in the future - but confronting strangers isnt the answer.
Hes so confused why leftists dont rally for Dems like alt-rights do for Trump when Dems are moving away from the left and Trump and Republicans have moved much more right. I do think leftists need to do a better job rallying behind candidates and proving they have voting power, but they arent going to do it for "the lesser evil"
21:30 PodJon going "tell me why" and "what frustrates you" REALLY annoys me. It came off as very thinly veiled, sarcastic "youre wrong and anything you say is stupid"
You can tell he’s a liberal. He’s frustrated and it takes time to make them consider a new perspective when they are so sheltered and full of themselves
@julio1148 I agree, my comment had nothing to do with "being pressed". It wasn't him pressing Hasan, it was him NOT pressing him to any real degree but also presenting his own responses in a way to signal to most (I'm sure some normal liberals will see past it/be genuinely interested) viewers that "this guy is wrong" or "this guy doesn't have a good opinion" In fact there were times that he sort of pressed Hasan in a "you're wrong" way and then when Hasan either challenged him for a reason he was wrong or just elaboration so he could better respond Jon changed the subject or avoided responding.
@@julio1148 Yeah, I mean Hasan did a great job overcoming that. I just think it could have been even better and more impactful without the snark that the host threw without any actual feedback/counter.
God dude… this and the discussion with the campaign staff is showing how insanely out of touch the dems and their hardcore fans are. So many examples throughout the episode, but the ending is the perfect example: “what’s going on with the rise of these Jordan Peterson types?” Like, seriously?? The right has been co-opting self help for a decade and NOW you bring up jbp???
"Why is someone who was open to Bernie now suddenly open to Trump?" Gee, Democrat Party Man, I wonder why. Surely nothing the Democratic Party has done could have anything to do with this.
Genuinely curious, what did Democrats do that made Joe Rogan, & all 50 states tack to the right in the second highest turnout election in a century? It seems clear to me that Americans prefer conservative policies like cutting Medicaid, SNAP, education funding, environmental & financial regulations, while increasing law enforcement. Democrats are less likely to do those things than Republicans are, so the country elected more conservatives.
The fact that Lovett got mad at things (like making the Walton family stand trial for egg prices) instead of laughing or having a little fun with it is why leftists like PSA dont resonate with me.
I think people need to take a step back before casting firm judgment about Lovett's type of Zionism; I say this as a leftist indigenous person who cares about issues regarding federal Indian policy (tribal sovereignty, environmental justice, et. al.), and there's a lengthy history of indigenous and Jewish scholars collaborating in the field of genocide studies. For many, it's important to acknowledge that, for some, they are Zionist in the sense that they do believe in the idea of an autonomous sovereignty for Jewish people not dissimilar to the domestic dependent tribal sovereign nations here in the US. The kicker is that it's tangibly unrealistic within international structure to build an independent ethnostate (which, again, is supported by Indigenous peoples based on our own pluralist contexts) without participating in colonialism. I think more than anything, however, is that this issue becomes much harder to negotiate *because* the dominant nationalistic structures have crystallized on their own border sovereignty so much that the way of diasporic and usufruct legal structures are much more difficult to let breathe, and it would require a hard shift in the direction towards anarchist thinking to bring it back. TL;DR nuance nuance, but I don't want to come off as a Zionist apologist since I also disagree with it.
But Kamala talked about medical debt, crushing student debt, corporate greed, corporate price gouging, and the housing crisis and gave plans to address. Sen Casey introduced a bill to the Senate to tackle corporate price gouging. We have the ideas. But i do agree the way we talk about it isn't working. And we should call corruption in our party.
I like the PSA videos - they’re calm and easy to watch, but Hasan’s are unwatchable after five minutes. So much going on on screen everywhere, juddering, comments that are unreadable up at the top. I think Hasan is pretty good but I only watch him when he’s on PSA.
Respectfully, how TF is this transformative content? I’m 15 minutes in, he hasn’t paused and added anything of substance to the original content and at one point full on left the stream with the content playing for two minutes, this feels so scummy. I was interested in hearing Hasan elaborate on what he said on PSA in his own space with no restrictions or editing but come on dude you can’t just broadcast someone else’s content in full and not transform it
Well I couldn’t even find the original video in the first place? Maybe he did this in case they take it down. And why not have him just sit there. Who cares, the twitch chat adds something. And it’s his video, he’s in it. He can post his own video however he wants. There’s nothing scummy about this lol
I dont agree man, the host let Hasan make his arguments and approached the convo in good faith. They agreed on so many things. I don't get why people are being so dismissive of this discussion. I don't like Zionism either but that's not what they fucking talked about
The non-responses to housing being funded and not market based, calling out conflicts of interests with Dem politicians, and asking what Democrats offer were all telling despite the discussion largely being good
Have you ever considered the fact that the problem isn’t the messaging, but the message re: immigration/Gaza/trans issue? The majority of the county just isn’t with you on these issues. That’s what causes you to lose votes.
If Joe Manchin wants to walk away, let him. Call his bluff. Tell Joe Manchin that in the democrats he's a big fish, the powerful "conservative democrat" whose vote matters. Then tell him that in the republican party he'd be a no-one. He would be considered progressive even.
"Why is Hasan wearing the same shirt?" Doesn't he have a fashion expert on hand at all times that gives him new clothes everyday? Don't you just love chats/comment sections?
I love how people still have audacity to finger wag at lest for not voting for Kamala when Kamala couldn't even lie about an arms embargo to her leash-holder Netanyahu.
