It's more about the system it was released on. PC Engine/Turbografx-16 was a much more advanced system than SNES or Genesis, and much closer to an arcade cabinet. It just had better hardware to work with. I mean, it had 2 16bit graphics processors running at 7.4 mHz on top of a 8bit cpu. It was the console that did arcade ports justice.

Even for PC Engine CD, this was a technical marvel, indeed. But it also comes to artistic talent and design choices. This game is absolutely perfect. the best castlevania ever, that pays like the classic ones at least. I remember seeing it at a game rental store, in the 90s, and being in shock at how much better than even Neo Geo games this was. People undervalue good, well done, old pixel art-based games. But in my opinion, great 2d from the 90s are far more imnpressive than the crappy 3d the first 3d consoles did

The first song "Requiem", if you've ever wondered what she is saying, well she's saying "Kyrie, eléison" which is Greek for "Lord have mercy". She is chanting it, meaning with no musical accompaniment, which is how it is sung in the Orthodox Church. She even repeats it 12 times which is something we also do as Orthodox Christians. However, the style of her chant isn't really a thing in the Church that I know of. It is nice and quite beautiful, certainly stylized with the chamber echo effect, but it doesn't really match what you hear in the Church.
For a comparison, here is an authentic Orthodox Christian chant of "Lord, have mercy":

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is the best classicvania, in my opinion. They nailed basically everything: good level design, detailed art style and graphics, great characters, awesome gameplay mechanics, the best player physics for a Belmont character in a Castlevania game and, of course, an amazing CD quality soundtrack. The game still has a few small flaws, but almost none of the other classic Castlevania games came this close to being so amazing. It’s too bad Rondo of Blood took so long to be properly localized for other audiences, but I am glad it happened nonetheless.

@@erikkoski6021 I played SCIV as well. It's really good too, great atmosphere and interesting level design. But I just think it's way too easy of a game and some of it's mechanics are busted. It can do stuff that the systems they themselves can't do on their own without additional hardware. I bet the composers were happy that they had freedom and room to produce excellent music. This is not to say that the cart music was terrible, those are masterpieces in their own right. Redbook really opened it up. I guess each one of them made like 5 tracks or so, maybe 2 rearranges and 2 originals, but the thing is there is common theme through out the tracks so who was in charge? My guess is Saito a.k.a Metal Yuhki he was the oldest and the most experienced for his work in Tecmo... If anyone know this for sure (from a book ) leave me a reply plz.
