This on top of the fact that the music is supposed to be Dark and upbeat when you are going through the areas. Now.....for the ambient part......well.......all I can say is that there are a few songs in the entire series that serve as pretty interesting background music.
I think HoD has one of the more lacking soundtracks... There are still good tracks, but they are outmatched by the songs from the previous Castlevania titles.
To this day I still think "Gaze up at the Darkness" 15:37 is the best theme in this game. Besides a couple others like Pitiful Scion, An Empty Tome, etc. All of them are good nonetheless

The last great composers are in the Japanese videogame industry. Modern Hollywood musicians suck big time. Any of these Castlevania OST has far better compositions than any Hans Zimmer-like OST based on boring repetitive notes with no soul, no magic, no melody, no passion, no feeling... nothing, only noises bathed in long reverbs.
