speaking of map design, will you review Deus Ex Mankind Divided? some Bethesda games (especially Dishonored and Elder Scrolls), Yakuza games, and Witcher 3?
I think they really nailed Hogwarts in the game. It´s a perfect mix of the different movie versions, the books and some own designs and yet it really feels like Hogwarts, like how it should be and it gives the warm and homely feeling of the first films. It´s so detailed and I love spending time there. Probably the best and most detailed version we have ever gotten of Hogwarts.
Judging from how long the epilogue from rdr2, rockstar could have easily sold it separately as dlc and people would Parise rockstar. Rockstar is definitely not one of those companies you mention.

The only thing I would change on the castle design is the windows. It needs more clear glass to open it up. The books mention Harry looking out the windows on a number of occasions. Also with this castle being completely open and not a loaded zone, like we always had in the past, it would be perfect to show that off by being able to look outside. The top room of the headmaster’s area is a perfect example of this. It has a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside from inside. More areas could benefit from this. I love the stained glass but some clear here and there would have helped a lot.
I agree with you but I think the reason why was because glass was hard to make transparent in large sheets in the medieval era so having large windows might break some immersion. I still think they could have done it well, though

I've already sunk 80 hours into this game and I'm still having fun exploring the world. There are a few optimization issues on PC but nothing game breaking. The combat was better than I had anticipated. I would like to add that going around doing every puzzle may get old fast for completionists because they're somewhat lacking in variety and it just turns into a list that you're ticking things off.
I just played the game one year on, and what disappoints me the most is that there is no interaction to go to sleep during night time, or any punishment system being put in place. I feels like an interloper being present among students who goes to class and do stuff and I am just wandering around the castle doing side mission. I really expect something like Bully tbh.
One of the greatest, and most detailed, games I've ever played. Even with the weird hiccups in the fps (on PC). The design of the environments is absolutely stunning. Added to that, it's actually using some of the most beautiful locations in the UK as inspiration. It's supposed to be Scotland, but it has many, màny elements of Devon and the Lake District in it. (For those that want to 'feel' the Harry Potter world for realz, I'd suggest a trip to Devon, and the region around Watersmeet in particular. ( Advantage compared to Scotland in summer: WAY less Knuts/Mosquito's.. 😋 ) Oh.. and I néed that free flying 'drone cam' plugin... One tiny caveat with the game when You really want to role-play and immerse Yourself : You can pet all the cats.. but You cannot sit.. ànywhere. Wasted opportunity. Inviting chairs, even love seats, and benches in all shapes and sizes.. but You Just. Can. Not. Sit on them.. (I'm not the only one grumbling about that, mind You.. :P ) My hope is for a handy modder to get that flaw fixed. They did it for GTA5...

Did ANYBODY play the Order of the Phoenix game? It was one of the best games from my childhood. I'm still fascinated by how much detail they have packed in a game from 2007 that ran on a PS2 when the PS3 was already out.
Can't wait to get my copy ❤. Not only is this a dream come true for HP fans, but also a banger of a game for both non HP fans and more casual players. I know the year just started, but we could definetely be looking at a strong Goty contender.
big gripe i have with the design of 1 part of the castle is the area before the suspension bridge (it's all quite red) (not in the DADA Tower), it links perfectly up with the ravenclaw tower yet there's no door connecting the two areas, makes it rather a pain getting from the ravenclaw common room area or even the grand staircase to the DADA tower
I think they could have done better in hogsmeade. Good start but it needs more interaction with other students and shops. Also why are other hogwarts students wandering the paths? What are they doing out in the middle of no where? What am I doing in the middle of no where with virtually no classes to attend and no curfew? Also we start sneaking into the restricted section but later do not need to put on our invisibility cloak?
This whole game is truly amazing. It's a dream come true for any Harry Potter fan and a place to spend hundreds of hours for a Potterhead. I can't even describe how beautiful the castle is and how breathtaking it is every single time. This map of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade is A M A Z I N G. Avalanche did a great job. If they only could introduce a photo mode in the summer update they're planning, i'm gonna photograph every single piece of it. Great video anyways

The only thing I hated about it was the foggy greenish color, I had to mod it to adjust to a more natural color, tint and reduce the fog.
It's a great game but no. They aren't giving Rockstar any challenge at all. Hogwarts Legacy isn't even the same type of game as anything they do. The closest competitor for Hogwarts would maybe be Skyrim? Oblivion? That magical genre of rpg based games. And I'd say it's on par with Elder Scrolls, but still not better. I absolutely loved Hogwarts Legacy too, but I'm not gonna blindly say its better than anything else out there. Especially not going to compare it to a company that doesn't really focus on this segment of games. Rockstar is more focused on multiplayer worlds now.

Avalanche really did just come out of the blue, make one of the greatest open world games (quite literally rivalling Rockstar levels of quality) and then just go back into hibernation.

Such a detailed world building by the developers. I just wish they started it with Unreal Engine 5 instead of UE 4. It would have been even more awesome. Perhaps they can re-master it in UE 5 and make it even more spectacular.

Disagree. I've explored the castle and hogsmead extensively and it got boring. I like having the entire world outside of what we already have to see in the movies. Getting to visually see the world that surrounds the castle thats seldom shown visually in the movies. It's alot of fun discovering hidden caves, and Merlin trials, beast rescuing, finding dark wizard encampments and kicking their ass. There's so much more fun outside the school too. You clearly are purposely avoiding exploring the outer world as much as possible if you find it boring.
@@tinystar3010 Merlin trials are boring as fuck and made for toddlers, and well apart from the beautiful scenery everything in the open world feels rushed and repetitive. It's like 2 different teams made the same game, I'd rather have what we got in the castle but 10 times more with even more secrets and cool lore and random situations.
Love your videos. Just wanted to say that you talked about a specific location that you would only visit in the game if your character is a Hufflepuff. It would have been nice to put a Spoiler warning before that, as it would help people who have not played the game (like me) yet to skip that section. Apart from that, we have only visited the Gryffindor common room and once the Ravenclaw common room in the Harry Potter books, so seeing the other common rooms in this video also was a Spoiler for me.
The game has a ton of pop in on my Xbox Series X. It also suffers from a lot of frame drops. I play on Performance Mode. I’m level 33 and the game is a lot of fun, but these issues are very annoying!
I'm playing on ps5 and I feel like although Hogwarts is a labyrinth, it's still too small. The rooms need to be expanded quite a bit, the castle from the outside needs to be enlarged quite a bit. Hogsmead needs to be more alive with more buildings and a lot more NPCs walking around, same with Hogwarts... there aren't nearly enough students walking around, running to classes, professors leading their classes out for activities around the castle, etc. As a whole the game is missing a grand and huge scale feel of Hogwarts and it's areas outside of the castle and the world don't feel alive at all. It's like an early 2010's RPG with a 2020's paint job.
I don't understand why you and other people find this game so extraordinary and unique, to me it's just like every other game that came out in the last 10 years. The quest design is generic, the rpg elements are generic, the world map with markers and other points of interest is generic, the mini map in the corner of the screen telling you which way to go and many other generic mechanics. People are crazy over this game just because it has a Harry Potter skin on it
The most unbelievable thing in the whole franchise is the fact that hundreds or even thousands of students sleep in the same school together and NOT EVEN one girl shows up pregnant. Do you mean to tell me that they're ALL virgins and NO ONE is focking IN THE WHOLE SCHOOL? This is more unbelievable than any magic in the whole series.
I think the Castle in Hogwarts Legacy is somewhat too “whimsical and a little silly and Tacky”. Yes it’s amazing and beautiful in many parts, but it needs to be more grounded and Romanesque/Gothic in Design and less so Disney Castle. I like the design from the Films(3-6 really) for the castle. I also didn’t like the redesign of the great hall and that stupid extra foyer.

The most unbelievable thing in the whole franchise is the fact that hundreds or even thousands of students sleep in the same school together and NOT EVEN one girl shows up pregnant.

Detail wise maybe, but Cant say the same for the Gameplay and the Graphics.
I think the Castle in Hogwarts Legacy is somewhat too “whimsical and a little silly and Tacky”. Yes it’s amazing and beautiful in many parts, but it needs to be more grounded and Romanesque/Gothic in Design and less so Disney Castle. I like the design from the Films(3-6 really) for the castle. I also didn’t like the redesign of the great hall and that stupid extra foyer.
I think that's because they were aiming for the way the castle was described as whimsical in the books.

main story is an IQ killer and the most fast food fantasy story you could find+
the detail is very good
game options are a fking joke you don't play them you activate them f this muggle blob
the fighting system is basic and every fight is the same structure almost as fast food
this game should have been a battle arena adventure game with the real life reward of finishing school traumatized
i say fast food game 6 out 10 Frodos traumas when he came back from modor
