So is it possible to use the paddles as extra buttons on PC and not map them as override for other buttons? I'm looking to buy a elite controller, but only if it has the 4 extra buttons.

Yeah agreed, I think they did it like this because the main usecase is for consoles where they cannot map other actions, so I think all the extra paddels are forced extras. Not sure if other software can solve this, but never looked into it to be honest
If you purchase reWASD it can map the paddles to any PC keyboard buttons. You can't do it with Microsoft's software, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

This topic alone needs more light cuz I have been abusing my wallet looking for controllers where the back buttons are remappable to any key binds smh sad
ps5 really needs to get on the ball and make a elite controller of their own that's this good. Brook doesn't even have a adaptor to make a xbox series 2 elite work on a ps5 for ps5 games yet. They have one that let's you play ps4 games on a ps5 with a elite series 2 xbox controller, that's it. Brook should figure this one out for us if sony wants to keep being lame about it.
I was actually going to buy that controller since I read that you can "bind any custom keys...". Found out that you actually can only rebind existing buttons that are present on the controller. Even if you could use the extra paddles as extra buttons on Windows would be great. The way it currently works is pretty useless :D

It seems that you have a different app than I, I downloaded it from the Microsoft store but mine is white and I don't have all the configuration options

Instead, on the right hand side, scroll down and click on app settings. Underneath "app permissions" turn off background apps. Then retry, or restart first then retry. Seemed to fix the issue, at least for the moment, but it could just be a random occurrence since my lack of knowledge on technology is unable to answer what precisely had changed internally. Hope this works for others too.

Specially games like Ark with a combination of keys is aweful with a controller :( Why can't they add "to A,B,X,Y" another pairs like C,D etc? I bought die Core Elite with the Paddles because I thought thats possible. I get that for some games you might so remap a jump button so you can aim with the second thumbstick at the same time. But what are the other szenarios zu just move a control from its regular position to the paddles?

dont know why they're not updating their app, but I don't think you can remap xbox elite controls anymore. the app isn't updated. it forces you to "update" but the update never comes
Hope I can...only tired on my XB. But if I can use all my buttons, even the shift part, it'd make playing games on my PC way easier. I have a Corsair K55 Keyboard, and M65 Mouse... And using WASD strains my hand. Let alone Q + E (Lean) and 1, 2, 3, 4 (WPN select). Most FPS games use this format and it kills my hand. Even zoom is Right Click. Back in my first years of PC Gaming, RC could be zoom, but often times Scroll Wheel was zoom, or even Weapon Switch / Select (remember playing Medal of Honor, accidently did that and sniper shot a dude in the face all within 1/2 a second. It was so surreal lol). Maybe I'm just used to w controller... But I don't remember keyboards and mice being this uncomfortable and painful to use. If Xbox won't let you Remap and Bind, (I don't think Steam / BPM allows this lvl of customization) then there has to be some Xinput app that allows us... (TBH, if I could figure out how to fix my DualShock 4s, I'd just use them. Then again, I wish I could find a way to change the LED s on my Corsair Carbide 678C [ From Blue to either Green or White ])

I have the issue where the app doesn´t recognize the controller, and says that it doesn´t support the current firmware or whatever. And alot of people have been having the same issue. I´ve looked everywhere for an answer, but they are all half assed answers, same answers. I have the Elite Series 2.

Incorrect as of Oct 2022. Xbox Accessories App forces a firmware update to the Elite II controller. After the update that it makes happen, Xbox Accessories App reports that it does not recognize the firmware update on PC (windows 10). If you find another way (3rd party software, etc.) then post that.
You can let it update, remap your 3 profiles then revert the controller firmware, that's what I did. Xboxaccessories://firmwareupdate?legacyDowngrade=true
Thanks. Perfect vid for me cus uhh... I don't have a xbox one or a series x lol. Xbox exclusives have failed me over the past decade so I never got their console. That being said... The elites series 2 is the best controller ever basically. And since ps4/5 and switch have trash for controllers compared to this thing basically... So glad I don't have to buy a console to change the button mapping and can just use a pc because I don't see myself getting a xbox console for at least a year, prolly longer since their games suck so bad lololol. My opinion of course... I do have the scuff vantage 2 for ps4. You can map the buttons however you want IN GAME on THE SPOT though. Xbox sorta effed up on this one. Scuff vantage has a edge over it in this one area but still, over all I feel the one x series 2 elite is the best : ) Although to be fair. The seires 2 has 3 friggin profiles to set up so that should be more than enough to satisfy your typical shooter/racer, fighter/sports, and world explorer profiles. You can't have a profile for everything I guess but it's best that you use these super advanced controllers on games like witcher 3 or breath of the wild of call of duty where several button inputs are a thing. A simple side scroller like super metroid though? Just stick to simple or retro controller for something like that. Back paddles are super not needed on simple old school games.

seems like it's not possible. i just got mine. it was big disappointing. paddles are used as reserve for other buttons. it's dumb.

@@Scoby can't they are wired to the same inputs so cannot be recognized as separate inputs.

ps5 really needs to get on the ball and make a elite controller of their own that's this good.

Mine would not connect, i plugged in the cable and it was instant!
