This might be the best kickflip tutorial video on the internet. Someone got me onto your channel recently and I’m hooked. I can’t put into words just how great your videos are. As a side note, there’s something really calming about your voice.
Awesome at age 40, started 3yrs ago learning how to skate. Now its time to learn kickflips.. so excited. This one of my favorite channels. Thanks for the in depth tutorial, we really appreciate them.. Will skate until 100 yrs old... so much fun and relaxing....Thanks!!!!!!!
yay, I was going to learn how to kickflip, cause I'm already comfortable with my ollies and fs 180s (and improving my bs 180), and your in-depth tutorials really helpful, thanks for the job you putting in them!
thank you thank you! i've been struggling with kickflips for months now, landing like one in three and far less while rolling. because your lands look so much better (so awsome, congrats and a ton of respect!), i think your steps will greatly help me. great video sarah, you're an source of tremendous inspiration.
Landing one in three kickflips is awesome! 💪💪 I hope the steps help you keep progressing with it though! Always room to keep getting a little better. And thank you so much. I'm really glad you liked the video 🙏
Honestly, I think you've made one of the best kickflip how to's that I've yet seen. Your 'Bad Pop' chapter in particular talks about something I've don't think I've ever seen on any kickflip tutorial. Well done!
Man, I have been practicing the kickflip every day for two years now without a make, but I think this video is the only one that has shown someone struggling with my particular issue. It's the board turning backside out from under me. Just like it does in the section where you talk about how popping "backwards" and trying to throw your weight forward was messing you up. I hadn't connected the dots until now but you're absolutely right. It's that desire to leap forward that causes the weird circular shuv motion on the back foot. I'm betting this will be the secret sauce that gets me over the line. Thanks for the video!
ah! I certainly hope to hear it helps. I found my own popping nuances have changed over time, but that was definitely where I needed to start to get to where I am now! Good luck. You definitely will get to it 💪
I think this channel and this type of approach is exactly what was missing from the world of skate tutorials out there. You have a very scientific mind and approach to skateboarding, and i am almost certain that you will/could be a great scientist one day (if that's what you'll be inclined to pursue, ofc). But mostly, I'm certain you'll master skateboarding for yourself, which is the most important thing here. 😊 Keep up the great insightful work, and thank you. 🤝👏🏻🍀
Ahh thank you so much 🙏 Wishing more detailed tutorials were easily available was the biggest reason for starting this channel. So, i really appreciate it! 🙌 Am always excited to see where skating will take me 😊
It's honestly surprising how bad skaters are at breaking down skating. "Just pop the board" How do I pop? "Slam the tail down and push the nose!" I seriously thought skateboarding took 10x as much force since almost nobody mentions timing and jumping
Yesterday I decided to learn how to kickflip since ive got my ollies shovits and fs&bs 180s down. No joke I searched up your name and the word "kickflip" but nothing came up. Fast forward to today and you uploaded just the video I wanted!
haha no kidding 😂 What awesome timing. I really wish I could get the tutorials out faster, but man..they take a lot of time to do. Stoked this one came out right when you were looking for it! 💪
Best skate tutorials i've watched so far. I've always struggled with kickflips and this video shows exactly what issues I have doing kickflips - AND EVEN SHOWS A SOLUTION! :D
Best tutorial i have watched to date. I am landing the odd kickflip, but you just pointed out a few cues i need to tell myself to land them more regularly. thank you :)
Wow thanks so much! I like your videos from you so much better then from pros that have been doing kick flips for 10-20 years. At this point it’s just so natural for them they don’t even think about it! I love all the thought put into this! With these tips I feel like I have what I need to finally land my first kick flip! Thanks 🥰
4:50 the exact thing happen to me so I played a long and learn varial flip first. Took me for 4 months grinding for the kickflip but I end up with a varial flip. Once I landed more varialflips I got more used to the air time of a flip trick so the kickflip came with ease afterwards
I am still working on my ollies and they are getting more consistent (also thanks to you video). I can't wait to learn how to kickflip and I am so happy you made a video about it!! You are a big part of my skateboarding journey Sarah. Thank you so much for what you do! Your whole channel is a treasure trove of tricks I want to learn. Your "beginner's mindset" and your own struggles and learnings make it so relatable and you pay so much attention to every little detail!
Ah, I'm always happy to hear that Denise! It's always a pleasure to see the videos are still helpful for you. Hopefully within the next year I'll be able to remake a lot of my videos too and make them even more helpful. 🙌
yours are the only videos i like on the intro because i already know it's going to be a good one! thank you so much for making these in-depth tutorials :)))
Of all the tutorials on youtube, i find yours are the best. Thanks for taking the time to make them. Its nice to see a tutorial from a pro or someone that has skated ten years because they obv know what they're doing......... but tbh its way more useful seeing them from someone that isn't gonna show the steps and then kickflip over a giant trashcan 2 seconds later lol i feel i can relate to your struggle more and you give a more realistic idea of what to expect when learning a trick. Thanks !!!!
thanks! :D I'm glad you've enjoyed the tutorials so much! Always happy to hear they resonate with someone. I think that managing expectations is one of the hardest parts of skating, so happy to share my struggles haha And, I can promise not to kickflip over any trashcans 💪 (perhaps forever lol)
Thank you so much, this is probably the best kick flip in-depth tutorial out there. This Video showed me what I was doing wrong ( flicking my front foot right in the middle of the nose). Shortly after a couple times of me absolutely eating concrete I landed my first kick flip.
What you explained about the miss pop is whats been happen to my switch snd nollie flips. I never thought about why though so i should be able to work on that now. Thanks for the in-depth tips
I've been skating for almost 10 years and I think you just taught me how to kickflip. No joke. I can heelflip easily. But when you explained how tuck jumps helped you, it instantly clicked. I wasn't flexing my knee enough and that's why I kept throwing the board forward. Thank you. This is a brilliant lesson.
Thanks so much this video is super helpful!! I come back to this video daily. I landed my first kickflip 2 days ago but I'm not flicking the nose at all and its like as you described as "the quickest way to just say you landed one". Now I have filmed it and can see I'm not flicking the nose at all I keep rewatching your flick section and your steps at the end. Holding onto something really helps me practice changing my flick without having to worry about being distracted about committing or landing until I'm happy my flick is better. SUPER USEFUL VIDEO!
I'm so glad to hear that! Seriously 😃 stoked. That phase between I know what I need to do and being able to do it is frustratingly long, but you got it! Just keep practicing those flicks and they'll get better and better :D
@@SarahParkMatott Yup it’s very frustrating when your brain and body don’t want to line up. I tried about 500 times today and only about 10 had a good followed through flick and didn’t land any. Repetitions and muscle memory will kick in at some point (I’m praying) 😅 at least I know what to aim for thanks to you 👍🏻
@@SarahParkMatott well sleeping and hours of kickflip attempts do seem to work for muscle memory! The flick is there 50% of the time now but the board is going away from me so I only ever catch it with my front foot. Guess I need to move my weight forward slightly or place my back foot forward a bit towards the pocket, I'll see what happens tomorrow! I only realised that's probably what I need to do once watching footage back rather than when I was doing it. I guess everyone has their own different issues with different parts of tricks. Recording, watching back + having something like your video as a reference to figure out what needs adjusting seems to be superrrr helpful!
Great analysis, Sarah. I recently spent a month re-learning the kickflip. It was a sobering experience but well worth it. Trying to extend my front leg was definitely a positive technique, as well as experimenting and finding my best back foot placement.
Thank you! 🙏 I've heard of a lot of skaters needing to re-learn kickflips. Was a big inspiration for the approach I took to learning it actually. Glad that your experimenting paid off though! I think it's 100% worth taking the extra time to get them correctly whether you do it in the beginning or now 💪 I'm currently working on fixing my ollie again. It's been getting a little wonky as late. So, I guess we are always kind of re-learning 😂
Another amazing tutorial Sarah! always love your 5 step methods and how in depth you go on tricks! I have a different pair of old skate shoes JUST for practicing kickflips/the flick and its funny one of my major motivations to land clean so I don't have to destroy my other skate shoes too fast 😅😅😅 Keep up the awesome work Sarah!!
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you liked it! I actually did that too. But, I tried to use a pair that was just too old. There was no gum left to grip and flick 😂 So, it didn't last long. I ended up having to learn the kickflips with relatively new shoes haha But, it was indeed worth it!
HIIII SARAH, Ur video was the key I needed to unlock my kickflips, specifically the “practicing the drag until the board vibrates” part. I practiced kickflips hella during quarantine but only landed maybe 2, and they were either rocket and I landed with both feel on the tail, or would only flip halfway. So I stopped trying them for a while. Have probably watched this video at least 7 times lol to make sure the info sinks in. I just came back in from skating and landed 4-5 kickflips in the grass, in one session! I’m tired and don’t wanna wreck myself but gonna try again tomorrow. I’ve been skating on and off and on for ~15 years and kickflips have always been so intimidating for me. So thank you so so much 😭❤️
ahhhh I'm so happy to hear that! :D Following through on the flick is so difficult--especially if you don't fully flick until the board vibrates in practice! Stoked you landed so many too. Just gotta keep throwing them into practice now. Land a few here and there 😃 Definitely second the not wrecking yourself for them though...my quad injury lasted a month or two from kickflips😭 But, seriously happy for you!
The YEET ZONE! Omg I'm going to remember that. I really love your breakdowns and thought process that goes behind learning a trick. A lot of these videos I watch don't really have those intricate details I need in order for me to learn a trick, and seeing the way you tackle your problems really helps a lot. Great video!
It's a good zone to remember 😂 And thank you! I'm stoked you liked the video. Always happy to hear that my experience with a trick is helpful! Skateboarding is all in the frustrating details 😂
37 year old rookie here because a kid told me to do a kickflip and i had to say i can't to which he replied "i can" and I had to ride away in shame. i'll let you know when i've got it!
Daaamn another great video. I really like the way you analyze and break down tricks. I wanted to learn heelflips before kickflips but I think this video will help me with both! Thank you for your time and effort!
Thank you! 🙏 I bet there are some takeaways here that could help with heel flips. I'm going to start working on those soon too once I start feeling a little more confident in my current trick repertoire. Glad you enjoy the breakdowns!
I find it helpful to learn to kickflip and Ollie by using a deck with grip tape.. it helped me learn the basics of kickflips and Ollie’s.. even pop shuvs and shuvs Found it easy to learn with just a deck.. .. I take what I learned with just a deck to a complete an usually land it after about 3 tries.. it’s good practice
Thank you Sarah, your videos have helped me so so much. Ive had the same problem with the board rotating in front of me like a shove it but I’ve had the flick part down. Instead of fighting it i worked with it and have landed 10-15 varial kick flips so far but have only landed 1 kickflip. I’m working on gaining better control of that movement so I can *intentionally* do varial and regular kick flips. I was happy to hear what you said about leveling out ollies because I’ve been working really hard on this the last 3 sessions. Looking forward to practicing some of these methods this week. Thank you so much for all of the work you put into your videos!
Thank you Daniel! I'm really stoked that my videos have been so helpful. Also, glad to find someone who had the same problem! I couldn't find anyone talking about it when I was struggling with it. Maybe I need to try some varial flips 😂 It's cool that you've worked on them instead. Gotta turn the lemons to lemonade 🤷♀️😂
You are the best at describing tricks!!! Love it!!! Thanks again def gonna start working more on leveling out my ollies to get to start these!!! Supper stoked!!! 🙌
Thank you Sarah. Your explanation is really helpful. Now i know that i miss my flick. I have to focis on that part. I always tend to shoot out my board or miss the flick. Now i know why.
"the yeet zone" that's the scientific term for it ☝️ i'm not even gonna attempt kickflips yet but maybe someday. gotta first build that muscle memory for ollies.
90% of my attempts are in the yeet zone!! Heelflip attempts feel more natural kickflips feel alien but I’ve decided it’s time to try and finally get Atleast close to landing one, hoping for 1 by the end of the year!!
Excellent video as always!! Thank you so much for putting in the work that you do for these tutorials. That ankle roll tip is huge. Consciously Rolling the ankle first and then flicking out at the corner of the nose has helped me so much. It’s so interesting to see all of the unique struggles that we go through to learn these tricks. Great stuff, keep it up!!🤘
Thank you so much! 🙏 They do take a lot of work, so I'm stoked when they're helpful and relatable! Yeah, that ankle bend is huge. You can get away with not really bending the ankle for a while when learning to ollie at first, but, you cannot get away with it here 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video 🙋♀️
I heard that heel flips are harder than kick flips but damn, I can't even flip the board while kick flipping lol, in fact Is easier to me to heel flip but I need to landed properly, I still practicing that one first, but Sarah your tips are awesome and I will try to attempt some kick flips or at least the first steps to do one
Another great video, thank you! I am 5'2 and to build a good straight down pop via differential pressure, it seems true to me that at that height it is necessary to have the hip more backwards if one does not wish to move the front foot too far back. It seems this is your experience, too. I have a large kid board with a 13 inch wheel base to help me figure out tricks before moving on to my actual board. I find it really helps, too. The weight distribution is far less critical on the smaller board (but it is over all harder to ride)
Ah thanks Stefanie! I definitely found that. Having my weight back more helped then! though, over a year later, I don’t have to focus on that as much thankfully! Funny how board size and skater size can have such an affect, right?
Such a great vid !! Just got injured about 3 days rolled my ankle in a rocketed heelflip try (popscicle). ill try to land my first kickflip when my ankle is healed!!Got me motivated I cant wait.Although i havent tried any kickflips all the tips and donts are spot on since ive given a few tries on a heelflip .Really awesome information chances to get injured now are less since now i know what went wrong. Be careful of the ROCKET ZONE!!
oh no sorry you rolled your ankle! I actually rolled mine yesterday too 🤦♀️ Maybe we both need a break haha Glad you liked the video though 😃 Hope the tips come in handy when you start practicing!
@@SarahParkMatott Yes the video helped immensly. i didnt give enough attention on where i flick the board. Now i know it makes huge difference!!Hope you heal fast!!!Get well soon enjoy your break :)
Kickflips have been evading me for so long I can heelflip, varial heel and backside heel but I never took the chance to learn how to kickflip cause they felt so unnatural, this is all I needed to really get myself motivated to learn one thank you
I'm working on my kickflip. It's so frustrating to do so. I usually drag my foot too high or make a board turned. But I'll try your method and give it another go. Keep on your good work!!!
Try a few sessions with the method and see how it goes! It definitely can't hurt 💪 Kickflips are indeed super frustrating. It can really bring you down. But, you definitely got it! It's worth the investment 🙌
Damn, this is a really good tutorial - nice work! 🙌🏾 Sometimes the algorithm does work (I actually got served a more recent vid but made my way through a few). I seriously needing to work on getting some actual flick, lol 😂
I was trying to do a kick flip for over 2 weeks nonstop on my ery first day I landed 1 kick flip and then it all went down hill and I gave up on the kick flip and focus for a few weeks on manual and ollies and now that I saw this video I tried again kick flip and I think it helped me but I'm not too sure I'll try again and again and watch your videos to understand it more
Even after we know in our heads what to do, it takes quite a while to get the body to listen to us 🥲 But you'll get it exactly with that "again and again" mindset. Just gotta put in the effort and take the time you need. You got it 💪💪
I wish you were around 30 years ago when I was trying to land kickflips. Well I saw this video today, and it sparked me to skate again, so I can land a kickflip. I bought a helmet and a complete, and I'm going to try and kickflip. I haven't skated since I was a teenager, and I'm 46 now, so this might end terribly, but you never know unless you try.
Cool! Many thanks for all your work on this! I need to practice knee tuck jumps. I can't even land a finger flip because I can't get myself in the air long enough to flip the board over before I land. This isn't about kickflips, but I can do shove-its on my Andy Anderson deck (it's not set up at all yet) on carpet, and I can do them with my other boards on carpet too set up with trucks and wheels! I just can't land bolts yet. Can't do it outside yet either, which I think is about exhaustion from my night work schedule more than anything. I just stand on the board in my safety gear and have no energy to even try. Trying to change my work schedule though so I'll be awake in the daytime instead of night.
I think that beginner skaters often think their "lack of skills" is what gets in the way of learning a trick. But, sometimes it's just situational. Sometimes we need to build up some other muscles first, like jumping, since most of us don't jump much in our daily lives. And sometimes there are outside factors like jobs, diets and energy levels. But, it's part of learning to skate--finding where it can fit well into your routine. I hope that you can get a better work schedule to skate with more energy!
Whilst unorthodox the shin pads are not a bad idea. I went to get a skin check lately and the dr was all like "what the hell have you been doing to your legs!?" I scar all over my shins and ankles from getting chopped. Great video. Keep them up, please. I can land KF but have trouble with consistency and the front foot angle segment of this video is definitely showcasing some of the issues I have consistently - shooting the board out a bit. Although angle has been mentioned over and over again you go into what the outcomes are based on flat vs angled. I will defiantly be trialling this for myself. Thanks
haha I bet 😂 I get asked that all the time too! And definitely! Have fun and experiment with that angle. I know when I relax on the angle, I'm more likely to yeet it away haha So, hope you can have fun playing around with what works for you 🙌
@@SarahParkMatott it’s actually way easier to do tricks watching yer videos.. I love Arron K and braille but they don’t go into details like u do.. u actually break the trick down step by step and make it easy to learn tricks or in my case learn a better way and easier way to do a trick such as kickflip or Ollie.. shuvit sand pop shuvits.. I literally relearned how to do an Ollie after watching yer vids and now my progress is so much better my Ollie’s are way smooth and I’m landing at least 87% .. I like to land them 5 times in a row if I mess up I’ll start the process over again but only do it for like 30 minutes or until I land 5 in a row.. trying to learn to manual right now also any advice on that?
@@SarahParkMatott also I think I invented a trick it’s like the strawberry milkshake and the caveman.. it’s basically u hold the board in caveman and think about the strawberry milkshake except standing or vertical.. and take yer back foot and flip the board around (like a strawberry milkshake) and land on board and ride(switch) or try with yer front foot and try n land it.. it’s actually pretty cool and hard also can hurt yer shins.. try it out n see what u think
@@thevillianats1599 Ah, I'm really happy to hear that. For sure, I mean..I think we're both better for different types of learners. I'm sure plenty of people can't bear my long-winded tutorials😂 And I do. I have a tutorial for how I learned them th-cam.com/video/5VK5cuF9m7Y/w-d-xo.html and then how I practiced them about a year later to really get them better. If you're already getting into them, the second video is probably better. th-cam.com/video/VfPXVmV_1vA/w-d-xo.html Also, cool about the trick. Hopefully I remember to try it 💪
Great video! I'm learning the kickflip now and this was super helpful. I'm wondering if you have any tips to what you do when you land primo. When the board slips out I have no problem, i just tuck and roll and don't get injured. But landing primo is a different beast and seems to happen a lot when attempting (but not landing) kickflips
Hmm..it's a little hard to explain what I do. I do have a video about what I do when falling...and I'd say my "hop bail" in that video is the closest to what works for me when landing primo too. I basically try to jerk my feet (hop) back up so that my full bodyweight doesn't go into the primo, and I can fall (or collapse) to either side without that slam that primos are famous for. Pulling the feet back up kind of slows the momentum if you can get the hang of it. I've done it a done when slipping out a lot, so it's become pretty second nature to me. Wish I could help more with that!
one of the best break downs. You get very close to introducing bio mechanics. If interested you should check out how golf swings are instructed with all their bio mechanical terms and physio understandings and how that affects things for different body types. For example pronation versus supination of joints and how muscles roll. I really think this is the future of skateboarding instruction but nobody that I know of has yet gone down this path. Golf has a century of physical study so skating will catch up soon enough.
Thanks! Oh, yes. I really wish I knew more about bio mechanics, and I actually did know that golf has been studying that for a long time (in the back of my mind lol). I mostly research jumping, mobility mechanic type stuff like stretch shortening cycles...Didn't think about golf. Maybe I'll have to check some stuff out and get some ideas 🤔 thanks for the suggestion!

This kickflip tutorial is so good and your ASMR voice is so lovely that I've decided to subscribe! 😁💕
ay, thank you! I'm glad you liked the tutorial 😃🙏
Never thought about the speed at which I practice the flick. Thanks for the help! Gonna try tomorrrow to kickflip tomorrow!
YAAY Finally!!! The Greatest skate tutor in the youtube world!
🙏🙏🙇♀️
Best skate tutorials i've watched so far. I've always struggled with kickflips and this video shows exactly what issues I have doing kickflips - AND EVEN SHOWS A SOLUTION! :D
ahh hope they help 🙌
Had to come back to this. Thanks for the help. I was doing the yee haw kick with the back foot and it was turning my board.
Best tutorial i have watched to date. I am landing the odd kickflip, but you just pointed out a few cues i need to tell myself to land them more regularly. thank you :)
ah! happy to hear that. Hope the cues help 😃
Absolutely fantastic teaching skills
Ah thank you so much🙏🙏
Wow thanks so much! I like your videos from you so much better then from pros that have been doing kick flips for 10-20 years. At this point it’s just so natural for them they don’t even think about it! I love all the thought put into this! With these tips I feel like I have what I need to finally land my first kick flip! Thanks 🥰
Thank you Laura! I'm so glad to hear that 😃 Kickflips do seem to take forever 😂 But with enough hard work, you'll definitely get one 💪
4:50 the exact thing happen to me so I played a long and learn varial flip first. Took me for 4 months grinding for the kickflip but I end up with a varial flip. Once I landed more varialflips I got more used to the air time of a flip trick so the kickflip came with ease afterwards
ay that's awesome 🙌 maybe I should try varial flips 🤔
cool breakdown! landing a kickflip was a huge milestone in my life! now trying to get it tuned in. thanks. liked and subbed
ah thanks Dan! I'm glad you liked the video. Hope you get em tuned in!
watching these videos made me motivated again to try to land my first kickflip. Love your content!!!
ayyy! That's great 💪 Take your time and it will come :D Thank you!
Thanks for the tips! The adjustment of the foot position really helped! Keep up the good work!
Glad to hear that helped you!😃💪 Keep up the good practice!
Best tutorial out there MILES ahead of any one else
Ah thank you so much Josh 🙏😃 stoked you liked it!
yours are the only videos i like on the intro because i already know it's going to be a good one! thank you so much for making these in-depth tutorials :)))
Thank you! 😃 Glad you like them!
Love the video. You really break all the step down and also get us through what went wrong for you. It helps a lot for learning the trick.
Glad it's worth watching the break down 😃🙏
Of all the tutorials on youtube, i find yours are the best.
Shortly after a couple times of me absolutely eating concrete I landed my first kick flip.
wow, that's amazing! I'm so stoked to hear that 🙌 way to go! Congrats on the first kick flip!
What you explained about the miss pop is whats been happen to my switch snd nollie flips. I never thought about why though so i should be able to work on that now. Thanks for the in-depth tips
ahh sick go get them and that pop! 💪
Good job on the analysis! You have a good kickflip, so well done.
thanks! 😃 I slacked off on practice over the winter, so it's back to square one, but getting back to it 💪
your tutorials are sooo well made and helpful sarah
Thank you 🙏🙏 so glad to hear that
Recently discovered your channel, love the way you teach! 👍 another sub from Spain!
Thanks Mikel! I'm glad you like the teaching style!🙌
Ahh that’s awesome!! Tuck jumps have been a game changer for me with so many tricks 💪💪 stoked to hear that!
what an amazing analysis. excellent work, thank you so much!
Thank you! :D
Repetitions and muscle memory will kick in at some point (I’m praying) 😅 at least I know what to aim for thanks to you 👍🏻
@@PokeMike it will. Seriously, the kickflip is 20% practice. 80% patience 😂
Recording, watching back + having something like your video as a reference to figure out what needs adjusting seems to be superrrr helpful!
love your vids! greetings from Brazil
SARAH IS BACK YAAAY🧡🧡 i need ur in depth analysis man 🙌🏼
WOO! 😃 I hope 20 minutes of said in depth analysis was enough 😂
@@SarahParkMatott i enjoyed every second of it 😭 i actually started trying 180 no complies today and i 100% have your video on them to thank!
Love the video too, thanks. Great work!
I’m glad these stay on. I’m not ready for this yet.
The braces you’ve made to practice with are brilliant.
It's worth waiting for to do when you're ready! You'll get it 💪 And thank you 😂 They were really perfect for practicing.
You’re an inspiration! Once my ollies are leveled out, kickflips are next. Thanks for taking the time and making this video.
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you liked the video!
Thank you! Im gonna be trying this method
Another amazing tutorial Sarah!
always love your 5 step methods and how in depth you go on tricks!
I have a different pair of old skate shoes JUST for practicing kickflips/the flick and its funny one of my major motivations to land clean so I don't have to destroy my other skate shoes too fast 😅😅😅
Keep up the awesome work Sarah!!
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you liked it! I actually did that too. But, I tried to use a pair that was just too old. There was no gum left to grip and flick 😂 So, it didn't last long. I ended up having to learn the kickflips with relatively new shoes haha But, it was indeed worth it!
The DIAGRAMS. Tyvm, Sarah for your attention to detail 🌸
Thank you! 🙏 Hope the diagrams are helpful! :D
Hi Sarah! I hope you’re having a good day. Thanks for the tips, gonna go practice now! You rock! 🤘🏽
Thank you! Good luck practicing 💪🙋♀️
I have practicing kickflip 2 days, this video Is perfect to me. I love u 😩😩💖
Sarah, you are the girl! I’m not very keen on learning kickflips but you gave me hope lol.
Thank you🙏😃 The kickflip will always be here! When and if you want to learn it. You got it 💪
Yes! That's what I was really waiting for. Thank you.
🙋♀️🙏
HIIII SARAH,
Ur video was the key I needed to unlock my kickflips, specifically the “practicing the drag until the board vibrates” part.
37 year old rookie here because a kid told me to do a kickflip and i had to say i can't to which he replied "i can" and I had to ride away in shame. i'll let you know when i've got it!
got it! your videos help the most
Daaamn another great video.
Fantastic content as always Sarah, and congrats on your awesome progress!
Thank you!! 😃 Glad you liked it.
Thanks for the video!! so nice!
You are the best at describing tricks!!! Love it!!! Thanks again def gonna start working more on leveling out my ollies to get to start these!!! Supper stoked!!! 🙌
Yessss 💪 Take your time. It's definitely easier to approach once you're really solid in the ollie!
Super helpful!
Hoping for a heelflip analysis soon :)
From what I'm getting so far, it's very very similar...if not just opposite sides haha I just never remember to try it 😂
Nice video, thanks!
Thank you Sarah. Your explanation is really helpful. Now i know that i miss my flick. I have to focis on that part. I always tend to shoot out my board or miss the flick. Now i know why.
Woo 💪 glad the explanation helped
Great tutorial 👌
best skateboard tutorials
This is gold! Thanks for that in depth tutorial. Will start practicing tmrw. 🙃
Thanks! Hope you hav fun with it 💪
"the yeet zone" that's the scientific term for it ☝️ i'm not even gonna attempt kickflips yet but maybe someday. gotta first build that muscle memory for ollies.
haha the yeet zone is indeed the most scientificic term I could find🧐😂 The ollie muscle is worth building up first too. But, we'll get there 💪
90% of my attempts are in the yeet zone!! Heelflip attempts feel more natural kickflips feel alien but I’ve decided it’s time to try and finally get Atleast close to landing one, hoping for 1 by the end of the year!!
This is brilliant! Thank you for making this. This is the kind of thing I wish to find when searching for kickflip tutorials 🙂
I'm so glad to hear that 😃 Good luck working on the kick flip 💪
I now consider you my teacher lol thank you so much for all the amazing tutorials !
ah thanks 😂 Glad you've been enjoying the videos 🙌
Now I have to begin working my kickflip ! Thanks, you’re killing it ! 🔥💪🔥
🙏🙏
I’ve been neglecting this trick but I think I might be ready for this one.
ohhh with the speed you're progressing at, I have no doubt 💪
OMG YESSS! This is what I’ve been waiting for girl 😍😍😍 thank you so much! Love from Italy :)
Woo!!!😃💪 hope it helps! My greetings to Italy 🙋♀️🙋♀️
Kickflips have been evading me for so long I can heelflip, varial heel and backside heel but I never took the chance to learn how to kickflip cause they felt so unnatural, this is all I needed to really get myself motivated to learn one thank you
ah, hope you can have fun tackling them 💪 with all those heelflip variations though, I'm sure you've got killer foundations to go for it 🙌
Nice video keep it up!
Thank you! 🤘
Great tutorial
Love your videos
Thank you! 😃🙏
exactly what I need right now
Noice grip tape!! 👌 🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘 useful tips thanx!
the best kick flip tutorial ainec
Wait, you can hold onto things while practicing?? Mind blown! Yes, it surprised me too that I’ve never though of this... :D Great video as usual.
I once saw a clip where a guy had a rope above his mini ramp that you can hold while learning new tricks without the fear of falling.
😂haha I love holding on to something first. I was using a fence just the other day. Gotta use all the tools you can 💪
Just landed my kickflip thanks for the advice 🙏😁
Ayyy congratulations 💪
I'm working on my kickflip. It's so frustrating to do so. I usually drag my foot too high or make a board turned.
But I'll try your method and give it another go. Keep on your good work!!!
Try a few sessions with the method and see how it goes! It definitely can't hurt 💪 Kickflips are indeed super frustrating. It can really bring you down. But, you definitely got it! It's worth the investment 🙌
Damn, this is a really good tutorial - nice work! 🙌🏾 Sometimes the algorithm does work (I actually got served a more recent vid but made my way through a few). I seriously needing to work on getting some actual flick, lol 😂
haha 😂 glad the algorithm worked and you liked the video. Have fun working on that flick 💪 it's a pain but worth the effort!
You got it 💪💪
So good. I’ll keep your advice in mind next time I try practicing kickflips. Last session didn’t go so well for my front foot’s big toe. 😅
oh no, a toe crush perhaps?? 😢 I hope it goes better next time 💪
yo! legend! the 5 step method may just be the key to switchflips 🙏
ahh hope so! 😃🙌 go get em!

Yeyyyy I've been waiting for this mwhahahaha I can't wait to try and land some today! Thank you Sarah!!!!
Haha😂 I wish you lots of luck! And patience 😂 Patience is probably the final step haha I hope the steps help though!! 💪 You got it!!
@@SarahParkMatott yup. Thank you!
That's awesome! 😃 You can 💯 get it. Just take your time and have fun. Nothing can stop us 💪
I know when I relax on the angle, I'm more likely to yeet it away haha So, hope you can have fun playing around with what works for you 🙌
I’d love to have a skate sesh wit u .. we need more skaters skating and teaching like u do .. yer awesome
ay thank you 🙌 glad you like the style of teaching/skating
If you're already getting into them, the second video is probably better. th-cam.com/video/VfPXVmV_1vA/w-d-xo.html
Also, cool about the trick.
@@SarahParkMatott maybe look into foot supination/pronation and how that works in skating? You could be would be a first.
