@@stevemarruk I do the not so legal way of just downloading everything I want and watch them on kodi I have a much better viewing experience than any streaming service out there IMO.
Currently switched over from sky fibre to EE and really good so far and in process of switching TV service to EE with the Apple Tv 4k as majority of most watching habits are through streaming apps nowadays to be honest
Hey Steve another great video. I've just got Sky Stream in 3 rooms but realised I hadn't anything for the Conservatory and remembered I had an Apple TV in a drawer.... needless to say your video really peaked my interest and I am now looking at replacing Stream with Apple, as Now TV is cheaper than Sky e.g. Now Movies is 9.99 (and often discounted) vs £13 on Stream and it's the same..... I looked at that TV app on Apple but didn't pull the trigger because of the price and I was worried it is legal... but you put my mind to rest. I hope you and yours have a bl**dy good Christmas. All the best mate
That’s so lovely to hear all I want to do is help people so if just one person gets anything from my videos then I have succeeded merry Christmas and a healthy happy new year. Thank you so much
Agree with you about Amazon. I've got the Fire Stick Lite. Cost me £19.99 when it was on special offer a while back. For the price I've found it works well. Freevee is great. I also have Now TV on it and subscribe to Sky Sports. I've never paid more than £20/month for that, because of the initial and subsequent offers each time I go to cancel. I watch all my other stuff on the same Fire Stick, iPlayer, Netflix, ITV X etc. It works much better than my ageing Samsung smart TV. I used to subscribe to Sky's satellite service, but even with special offers Now TV worked out cheaper for what I wanted to watch. Plus I'm not tied into a long term contract. I think Sky are going to have to re-think their business model when it comes to Stream and satellite. A lot of people don't want to sign up to 18 month contracts, especially at the moment. Really enjoying your videos. Merry Christmas.
Those are exactly the thoughts going through my head. I don’t think there is any reason to stay with Sky for TV shows and Movies. They’ve lost so much to Disney and other streaming services that, like you, I don’t watch it much anymore. An occasional Now subscription would be enough. I do watch a lot of Sky sports though which is making the decision more difficult. To answer your Now question, it’s 720p with stereo sound and ads, unless you add boost. Now boost for £5 a month gets you 1080p, 5.1 sound and no ads. Great to see reviews from another customers view point. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas.
With Now TV they charge £5 per month for Boost which gives Full HD 1080p otherwise it's 720p without boost. Love this review. The TV Launcher app is an interesting option. With Sky Stream the TV Guide cannot go backwards in time for programs that have aired earlier in the day. Like what TV Launcher can do or some other platforms with a TV guide can do. Since there is a 6 month free trial I am going to try the apple TV. To see if I like it. Thanks again for a great review. Looking forward to the next one. 👍
Aways had Amazon 4k fire tv but not rented any films added redbull tv app have enjoyed it for over 5 years and gets better knowing what you like to watch and can skip some ads
Merry Christmas- I like u are a bit of everything! I have sky stream plus amazon fire cube - I basically have all bases covered including being able to get sports legit from overseas (u should check out stream locator Steve) - yeah it all costs money but it’s less than what u would spend on a night out but it’s a win win for me! Keep up the good work
Yes. I am streaming only. Have an Apple TV and subscribe to the following: Now TV, Apple TV+, Amazon prime video, Disney+, Netflix, paramount+, Discovery+ and History hits. I've had an Apple TV since 2010. For years I was not using my sky or virgin. So around 2017 I cancelled my cable subscription and just used my Apple TV and streaming apps. I re-subscribed to Virgin in 2021 for 18 months only because there was an offer on where I could get a cheaper deal to take out the TV package than having the internet package alone. Did not use the TV box once. I've just cancelled again as the deal is finished and gone back to internet only.
If you already have a Roku, fire TV device or Apple TV you can get free live channels from the BBC, ITV, channel 4 and channel 5 no need to pay for tv anymore. I have virgin TV and will be ditching it and going broadband only when our contract expires.
I have Virgin 360 and after 3 years I am fed up with watching the same TV programs over and over again. So I think I will be just concentrate on the internet available channels from now on.
streaming services are slowing bumping up there prices apple music has just gone up in price me my self I'm am a digital buyer of movies apple run specials on a regular bases all so tv shows build my collection PS steve just wondering what other digital services sell movies and tv shows maybe you can do a in depth video on it there a a lot of digital collectors out there due to physical media is slowing down and a lot of movie makers are not putting out the discs that much know its going more digital cheers peters in australia PS have a good christmas and New year you and the family live long and prosper
I think it's the wrong question to ask. It all depends what you want to watch. If it's sports, then the answer is a firm no for a few reasons 1) Now TV would work out cheaper if you exclusively watch sports , because you don't have to take Sky Entertainment and Netflix. HOWEVER, it's only fractionally cheaper because HD BOOST is extra, and you can't record or add to playlist OR watch from start. So if you're a hard-core sports fan, then NOW TV is a no. 2) To get sports via Virgin or BT you have to take their broadband, if this changes in the future then yes, there will be a true alternative to Sky because they may package the sports to be available without a basic Entertainment package. Ofcourse if Sports isn't your thing, then Netflix, Disney and Amazon rival or exceed Skys offerings for TV shows which for exclusive content is mainly HBO based. HBO may not even be on Sky in a few years, and then they're in big touble because Sky's UK originals are absolute rubbish. I'm not sure why BT and Virgin can't offer their TV irrespective of your broadband provider, but if they do, Sky will certainly be in trouble.
Amazon prime and sometime now tv for me. I had Sky Q but most of the time I was just using it for the Freeview channels so i just bought a cheap recorder for that and I’ve just got the new Fire TV Cube as replacement for my Apple TV for everything else.
Having the HDMI in as well means I can connect my Freeview recorder to it and can use that without having to switch inputs on the tv. Really good device but like the Apple TV it’s a bit expensive for what it is. Look forward to your review though
Regarding tv launcher -in USA it is shit because American does not understand concept of free tv. In uk it could be better if it integrates lot of content inside the same app but I assume written permission from content owners is necessary to do that. After all it has to be possible since Sky and Virgin does that
Haven’t found any replacement for sky yet can’t believe they don’t have any competion after all this time, just want a system with basic entertainment package and HD, the freesat pvr boxes don’t have all the major streaming Disney, Netflix, prime video etc integrated and the humax freeview 4k has better facilities but at £249 and lots of gremlins in the reviews doesn’t sound appealing, one option would be now tv basic but they don’t include freeview channels my wife wants one central system for everything and ability to at least pause and resume live tv and ideally record, also thought about plex as like the universal search but live tv isn’t as fast as sky changing channels and search still needs some work to search both local content and streaming services and search by actor as well, might stick with my Hisense smart tv but the epg doesn’t let you Manually change channel order so he channels are opposite end to rest of the channels it’s like buying a house impossible to find a perfect one and having to decide what flaws you can live with
I wish Apple created satellite tuner therefore you could have at least something similar to Sky on Apple TV. I wish Sky was available in Poland, if you think it’s bad you never seen Canal+
So what do you think guys? Can we live a life without Sky or Virgin or BT? I think so
Been living a life without those for 7+ years, and I'm never going back.
What you using?

Hi, I’ve just recently come across your channel & it’s fantastic 😃 could you do a review on the cheapest way to watch sky sports?
Thank you and yes I will investigate for you

Yeah, I hate the way SKY have all these little add ons you need, like the broadband boost, the HD boost, UHD boost. It's just a rinse.
Yeah I have to agree that really sucks
Aways had Amazon 4k fire tv but not rented any films added redbull tv app have enjoyed it for over 5 years and gets better knowing what you like to watch and can skip some ads
That’s good what’s on red bill

How can you watch different Chanel’s with Apple TV+ on other TVs I have sky q and 3 other TVs I can watch any ideas regards bob
Apple TV is not o my a TV box it’s also an App and as long as you have an Apple TV plus subscription you will get it on all
Your smart enabled TVs
And another thing. I'm amazed that TV channel guide app is available, as it basically circumvents a TV licence.
Apparently it's all above board

If you cancel on now TV a deal could be had plus no contract and you can pay per game if you want to.
I don’t understand why Virgin clientS that have access to BT Sports cannot authorize inside BT Sports app?
That’s strange
Sky should release a Sky Stream app for Apple TV
That’s what I said
Love your TH-cam 😂 Chanel I got sky and hate being locked in for 18 months
Thanks Robert that means a lot
How much you pay for terminating before?
Top class excellent

You can get Freevee on Apple TV 4K, I’ve downloaded it on mine.
Yh they now do it as an app
