    Gon applied what he learnt from Kurapika. Sacrificing himself for circumstantial power.
    But he applied it to the max, because he is so simple and was so broken.
    Instead of limiting his power to certain targets, he limited it to one specific moment. And he put all his life energy on the pact ("I dont care what happens anymore") Gon also has more natural talent than Kurapika and almost anyone we've seen.
    So this was a huge loan that will have to be paid.

    Iconic episode. This is the one that put HxH in my Top 5. I've watched it so many times but I still always get goosebumps when I do. Also there's been some theories on how much Gon aged himself up but the general consensus in the community is that he was in his mid 30s

    I always think of Netero's suicide attack when I think of Gon's. There's no way back, he pressed the ejection seat button. Power wise, it's the highest he's ever been, but character wise he's at his lowest point. Even at 11:43 it looks like he's in literal hell, maybe the same one Netero eluded to.

  • @erict1628

    4:22 This is what Gon will look like at his peak, after a decade or more of Nen training. At his transformation, Gon said, "so I'll use everything." That means ALL the Nen he will gain in the future. And since Nen is really life energy, it means he'll sacrifice his life for this battle. This is the condition and condition that Kurapika was explaining to Gon in the YorkNew City arc.

    • @Pragabond
      @Pragabond 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I personally don't think its actually Gon at his peak. Maybe in raw power but he doesn't seem like he actually got better at fighting....he just seems like Gon but REALLY strong and fast. No new techniques no new fighting style no like...adult experience and technique. It'd be like putting 14 year old Mike Tyson in prime Tyson body. Yes he's trained and yes he's strong but he would be put to shame by grown ass Mike Tyson.
      That and I do personally think part of the price in addition to his nen potential was shaving some of the full potential off the top as well so he didn't get the absolute max but like 70-80% of it. This is half because I really think it would be dull if we actually did just see Gon's legit max already. That feels so limiting.

    What Gon did was the same thing with Kurapika did to his Nen, but Gon took it to the extreme that "I don't care if this is the end."
    Ironically, Wing told Gon to not imitate Kurapika, yet he did it much further. He grew himself up to the highest point of himself to make a destruction, self-destruction.
    To me, sadly, Pitou really loyal to the at the level it sacrifice itself and was being relief because once Gon did used his condition-and-condition, then he has nothing to do with Meruem, that's mean these fangs won't reach its King's throat. And Pitou still has "Nen After Death" that made itself into a puppet to eliminated the threat of its King.
    PS.To me, it always break my heart a lot when I heard Killua screaming as he shouted Gon's name, when your whole purpose of being there was to help your best friend from suicidal or even to died with, but your friend just said "It's okay" when clearly wasn't at all.
    And that's the first Killua footsteps' sound in the whole show.

  • @Laketwig

    This is not what Gon's potential is, remember that covenents boost your nen, nen+rule*restriction = ♾power boost depending on the previous.
    who you are = nen/potential + your mental state affects your nen.
    Restriction/vow = Resolve
    Rule = Limitations for power.
    Gon's nen is enhancment so what he did was:
    Nen = enhance myself(basic ten/ren), + Rule = i will use everything (all nen/life/potential) * Restriction (i dont care what happends/ Blank check for nen) with the resolve of a mental breakdown.
    So he/his nen just enhances him to a point.
    Tldr: His resolve boosted his nen and his nen boosted his body.
    Kurapikas restricion/resolve on emperor time is " My scarlet eyes have to be on + lose one hour of life per second in emperor time * resolve (ill die for my cause)" gons just went all in for a one time use ability. His grown up state with nen training as a adult and doing the same as above would have made him even stronger then this.

    A little disappointed that you knew about the appearance of Gon from before, but I guessed it from your not very-surprised reaction. I appreciate your honesty though, and genuine reactions. I think we all went from WTF!! at first time seeing Gon to laughing when walking to excited when punching Pitou to sadness at the black-white scene to shock at the end. Whenever I see that face Gon makes after Pitou attacks him, I always feel like he's not even mad about it.

  • @anthonymartirez4002
    @anthonymartirez4002 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, what Gon used is called "vows and limitations"(some have different translation but essentially the same meaning), it's kinda like what Kurapika did to achieve his power with only one major difference, what's at stake. Think of it like writing a cheque, Kurapika wrote one to the nen to have the power to face against the WHOLE phantom troupe with the price as his life , it is strong but it's for multiple people, while Gon wrote what is essentially a blank one and told nen to write down whatever price it wants(this time it's his life force and potential for nen), which in some cases is worse than death, to have the power to deal with JUST ONE. The reason why Gon's body "aged" is because he needs a body to hold all of that power so it grew to that point. And what happened to PItou is called "nen after death" , his devotion to the king is so great that nen made it's purpose to finish Pitou's "mission".

    I really find Pitous death to be the most tragic of the royal guards, arguably the most loyal and given the least opportunity for personal growth, Pitou dies broken and alone

  • @bradleycoates6297
    @bradleycoates6297 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nen has rules, like with Kurapika, his Chain Jail was powerful because of the rule he set that he could only use it on the spiders, anyone else and he dies.
    In the same way, Gon made a rule that, by forfeiting his life, he wants all the power he'll ever have in life, right now, all to kill Pitou. The way I like to picture it is, Gon is skipping to the theoretical end of Hunter x Hunter, but it's also a Gon that did nothing but train for decades. It's like a weird form of time travel, he sacrifices himself to become his future self, right now, cause that was what was needed to defeat Pitou.
    We've been foreshadowed Gon's potential throughout the series, it's also what Hisoka sees in Gon. This is what Hisoka imagines Gon will eventually become and who he wants to fight.

  • @xsjado_anon
    @xsjado_anon หลายเดือนก่อน

    Damn, I like your reactions so far, but I wish you had a greater comprehension of the tragedy of this episode.
    It's the old anime trope of the rage powerup, but instead of some main character getting big mad and getting legendary powers, the main character is a broken 12 year old boy who lost his will to live, blamed himself for his father figure's death and traded his entire future for the power to beat Pitou and "redeem" himself.
    You saw a glimpse when Morel asks Gon to punch him, but the adults around him - like us in the audience - were so focused on his powers and what he could do in this battle with his cool powers that we forgot this is just a little boy slowly breaking who needs a hug - that all those "cool moments" leading up to this were red flags and borderline cries for help that we ignored because we only saw whatever cool feat Gon just did by taking a crazy risk to his own life, over and over again, sign after sign - and the only person there for him is another little boy who's arguably even more broken than Gon and can't help himself, much less help Gon.
    Another poster here said it looks like he's in literal hell, and that's an apt description.
    HxH is second only to Berserk IMO when it comes to well written manga, one of the best stories of all time.

    Although the translation makes sense: "now his power is equal to that of the King", I think it is not correct, what it says is more or less: "I was right, I must stop him, I cannot let his fangs point at the King" this It is for a chapter in which Pitou thinks that Gon was a threat to the King and says: I must risk my life or else him fangs reach the king's throat! And they show the image of a tiger (referring to Gon). 🙃

      That was my take away. Pitou has never seen the King's full strength, so recognizing that this transformation has made Gon far stronger than Pitou, he's panicking because anyone stronger than the guards could be a threat to the King.

    Despite Pitou saying "he's equal now to that of the King", I don't think Gon is quite there. In this moment, Gon is definitely stronger/faster than Pitou, but I think the King is on another level of durability and speed. I don't think Pitou knows the King's actual strength, so he's panicking in this moment because this boy in front of him is far stronger than him and he doesn't know how to gauge the threat it poses to the King.
