This is perhaps one of the best breakdowns of how hair costuming is done when done well that I have ever seen. This deserves a lot of shares. It explains things so well that younger children (who are curious about theater!) can grasp the concepts while giving excellent suggestions and hints throughout for anyone looking to upgrade their own work for events. Thank you for the attention to detail, maintaining focus, and transitioning each character’s looks from one season or scene to the next.
It’s amazing how the hair ages the actors! From young to older! I am a crafter & make clothing & quilts but I can’t imagine making these wigs! Amazing!
@@jaijai5250 I personally feel that Nicola is a beautiful woman no matter what role she plays, yes I’ve seen her in Derry Girls and I plan to watch the Big Mood and in any other projects she is in. It’s not just her looks that makes her beautiful it’s her charisma, her character, the way she advocates and empowers others, the way she appreciates the people around her and in her life! That’s what makes her so beautiful to me! By the way this comment I am making is coming from a straight woman who admires the heck out of her and everything she stands for! 💜
@@Kitkat-qq7oh apologies. I didn’t realise you were talking about the characters she plays and her inner beauty. I assumed you were referring to outward, aesthetic beauty. Do you know her personally, or are you referring to her roles and the PR that makes her beautiful?

Right! I kinda feel like if they employed some of the black hair show stylist, some of these wigs would not take so long to make and we would have to wait 2 years for the next S4. LOL
🥰💜Thank you for putting together this video! I am not sure if folks realize the complexities of the costumes and especially the hair! I absolutely 💯 loved 🥰 all the wigs this season and on the other seasons of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte. Have an incredible Tuesday and rest of your week! Sending you and everyone here nothing but positive vibes and positive energy 🥰
That truly just made my head hurt (bahahaha) I cannot even imagine the time, patience & fideliness of sewing individual hairs like that together. They are beautiful beyond imagining but WOW.
I really wish they wouldn't re-use wigs from earlier seasons because I live in the hope that, one day, there will be a museum exhibition of all the wigs used in Bridgerton. I can imagine there will be a book one day, but seeing them IRL would be epic. Mind you, I don't think it would come to Australia (where I am), but I can live in hope...
at least this way it won't by as likely to end up in landfill. and is less wastage :) I was surprised to hear they only have one wig, i would have thought they would have more than one so that if anything were to happen they can swap it out, or so that they have the next style for the next seen being recorded ready to go.
I love this breakdown! Cressida Cowper's actor Jessica Madsen said in an interview that in Season 1 they used her actual hair and she experienced hair breakage and also gave her mild headaches because of tightness and tension from the style. So having wigs help not only the prep time and use time for both the crew and the actors but also maintaining the styles because they wore the same style for a few days, as well as protecting the actor's real hair as is stated in the video.
I once built an hairstyle for Halloween where I went as a Jack o‘lantern that included a battery pack for the fairy lights and let me tell you the pain in my neck was from out of this world
2 years to make the carousel wig and a TikToker made a replica in the span of a 5-minute video! With hand-folded paper cranes!! 😩😩Outstanding results on both ends, though! Brava! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
😄😄😄😄You just said what I've been saying ever since I discovered that Nicola Coughlan is 37 and after I saw her GLOWUP on Bridgeton Season 3!!! I need the Nicola's makeup artist on the show ; any one that can make a 35 - 37 year old look believably 17 - 19 HAS to do my wedding makeup!!!😄😄😄
1:00 About the KISS STYLE wig ... many of the actors shown were not from the 1950s. Brooke Shields and Claudia S'fer were way AFTER the 1950s. Rita Hayworth was more of a 1940s movie star. The photos may demonstrate a similar hairstyle, but it's not right to call these women 1950s actors.
I guess this is why hairdressers avoid making shows that take place in the 1830s 🤣😭🤣🤣🤣😭🙈 (if you know, you know) (and if you dont know just look up popular hairstyles in 1830s)
There's a scene in S1 when Lady Danbury's hair was down in the 1st episode & in that same episode Queen Charlotte has her real out when she is taking a bath
This didn't really give me how they are made, just a style storyline. I wanted to know the lace fabric, ventilation methods, and how a wig that is reused over and over is maintained or thatched with added hairs, synthetic or human, and haircolor mixture.
This is really well done, but it's worth noting that Claudia Schiffer and Brooke Shields were not on the same timeline or even industry as Anita and Thelma... While Brooke did try out film she was definitely known more as a model as was Claudia. Both were a big deal in the height of celebrity models in the 80s although Brooke was famous as a baby being the face of Gerber. Neither of them though was famous for wearing that hairstyle. Anita Page and Thelma Todd were both film stars in the 20s and that was actually slightly before the Kiss Hair was really done this way. It technically began in the late 20s but went through even to the 50s but was far more common on the heads of Rita Hayworth (who actually had extremely curly red hair), Grace Kelly, Veronica Lake and Marilyn Monroe.
Ok I mean this is amazing but for the swan wig how would that been achieved in the era or was this where suspended disbelief was supposed to be a thing. Lady Danbury looks like she is wearing a wig. Thats the only one I don’t like as much but these stylists are amazing!
I had a hard time believing that her sister, a supporting character, had more wigs than a main character. I figured they had to have at least two in case something happened during the scene to change it out because filming must go on for scheduling and budget reasons. It cannot be hot held up by a wig issue, so would need a secondary to change out.
But do we need to see all those overcomplicated hairstyles when Bridgertons will turn to be grandpas and grandmas before the series are finished? Waiting a year is crazy to ask, but two years just for wigs? No, thank you.
So wait, the kiss style was inspired by the 1950’s Hollywood glam but used for a regency era show? I loved Pen’s glow up but it was not historically accurate. The whole season was meh to me.
Feelings on the season aside, Bridgerton has never been historically accurate or tried to be - they’ve always taken regency as an inspiration rather than a rule. Although I adore historical fashion and accuracy I do think this actually works for Bridgerton as it gives it simultaneously a more modern and a more fantastical vibe, both of which seem to be on purpose.

they NEED to add a category for the hair to the emmys or oscars! Hair and costumes! for real- this is ART on the next level
They do. 😊
Have you ever watched them? They’ve had that for a long while now.
Right!!

Also, from older to younger. A lot of the actresses are in their 30’s pretending to play as late teens to early 20’s age.
i do love Pen's hairstyle this season, especially the one she got in the library scene...
This is absolutely amazing! Definitely need a hair award category.

Goldas wig was a homage to black hair show culture, and I loved it! Moving mechanical wigs and hair pieces is a staple for a black hair show

not very likely to happen unless at most as a temporary attraction, if it's not going to bring them cash it simply won't get done

Yeah but we have to consider the fact that , that creator had the carousel wig as a reference whereas they made the creation from scratch basically.

They put this much effort into hair, then put prom jewelry from Alibaba on the characters. They really need to find a balance between departments.
