I saw where Harold Reid passed away yesterday after a long battle with kidney failure. That just breaks my heart :( I'm a die hard Statler Brothers fan. I started listening to them in the early 70,s when I was only 16 years old. I finally....just recently, purchased their farewell tour DVD and CD. Harold was a card! Loved his clean, comedy skits!! Fly high Harold, you will be missed by so many!!!! :(
Both my parents were born in '55. But I was born and raised in Staunton... So this brings back many memories (mine and theirs) when I watch this video. The girl in the Pink prom dress was a cheerleader of my mom's (Harold's daughter) when they made this video. She gave us an advanced copy cassette. We wore it out!
My great grandparents lived on Maple Street in Staunton, VA when I was growing up-near where Don and Harold Reid grew up- Lord does this video ever bring back some memories- the old days were the best!!!!
Yes, but on a different street. They even changed out the street signs. The story is a man who lived on this street became quite confused when headed home.
I've listened to the Statler Brothers since I was born. Im now 21 and though I may physically be part of this generation, my music tastes are of a beautiful time now gone. I just listened to Maple Street Memories for the hundredth time and cried my heart out. Words can not describe my deep admiration for you boys nor explain my joy when I hear your songs. As long as I'm alive your songs will live on in my heart!
I've never heard this before but I love it. The statler Brothers were in a leag of their own with their harmoney and ability to sing truly relatable, touching, memory invoking songs. No one now is even remotely close and few could ever come close.
@@marianoleonelszamudhio3647 it was filmed on Allegheny Ave in Staunton VA 24401 (USA). The sign said Maple, but they just switched the street signs (we have a different Maple St in Staunton). The grown teenage daughter with the big pink dress is Harold Reid's youngest daughter Kasey. She was one of my mom's cheerleaders and was actually in high school when this filmed. The older lady (grandma in blue) I believe was Harold and Don's Mom. There were other friends and family in the video, but I was 7 when they filmed it, so I don't know for sure. Great memories to last a lifetime. I am a little jealous. I was born in a small town in Southwest Va. but raised in Indianapolis. Had cement under my feet most of my life but longed for those hills. Where neighbors were friends, kids were safe, life was simple & kind.
Beautiful almost beyond words. These are the kind of singers and songs that made country music great. Maple Street Memories is extra special. Millions of miles removed from the rubbish that passes as "country" today. This is a truly haunting song from the wonderful Statler Brothers. High Five from Ireland....!
Reminds me of my high school sweetheart. We dated all senior year and ended up going to different colleges. We chose not to have a long distance relationship. She's married with kids now. I'm happy for her. Sometimes I think what if, but you can't change the past.
I've listened to this song over and over and over and it still saddens me that the two of them didn't end up together. Perhaps because I let my "Maple Street Memory" get away and although I have a wonderful wife, kids and grandkids, I often think of the one I let go.

Hupf Florence not where I live at. Out in the country. There’s a maple tree, oak tree, pine tree and,etc but you are right, all towns have a Maple Tree Street. A great comeback.
When I was 13,I would spend time with my father at the National Guard Armory in Staunton .It was next to Gypsy Hill Park and golf course.I would roam the park and took lessons from the golf pro at the club.Vividly,I recall putting a quarter in the juke box at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and playing Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.Afton mountain was close to my daddys heart because he grew up near there at Piney River I believe.Very beautiful scenery.
I didn't marry my Maple Street memories and now I'm glad I didn't because I met a girl from five blocks away and it's now been 63 years. Great song though....
Great to hear. I was engaged to my Maple Street memory but she passed away before we could be married. All these years later, I still think of her fondly.
Brings back so many GREAT memories of my first love "Janice Hodge". I let her get away and it was my fault for the breakup. I still think about her almost every day even though it has been 53 years ago! Went on and married someone else, that marriage lasted only 3 years. Ohh how i wished i could go back and relive my life!
Let me ask you, I think I remember you and the girl "Janice Hodge" that you were crazy about. Did you go to a small church Bethel Baptist in Mills River, NC. I remember you telling me that she moved away, and you were very upset, and you were crying telling me the story. Would love to talk to you
Long time ago (I was young) my father bought me The Statler Brothers' Cassette, I listened to it everyday then. I really miss the old good days. Oh how does time fly away? Will the time the good old time ever fly back?
They were all about memories. I am reading the anthology. Half way through in a year. I have to listen to nearly every after reading about it. Wonderful. Every fan should read it.
They used to come to the Great Frederick Fair in Maryland. I heard them in 1995 not realizing it would be the last time they ever came there. So glad I did.
Redding St in High Point, NC for mine. Her name was Elizabeth, another great Statler Brothers song. My Aunt & Uncle lived not far from where this video was made, Alleghany Ave in Staunton, VA.

Hupf Florence not where I live at. Out in the country. There’s a maple tree, oak tree, pine tree and,etc but you are right, all towns have a Maple Tree Street. A great comeback.
what a GREAT VIDEO. ALL TIME CLASSIC. I LOVE YHE STATS.
The young lady in the prom dress is Kasey Reid, daughter of Harold (bass singer) who is in the striped white yellow and blue shirt in the video.
I miss you guys.
THIS SONG TAKE ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD, THAT WAY I LOVE THIS SONG.
Hey dear how are you doing over there 😘 ?
I married my Maple Street memory, it has now been fifty years for us.
***** that is nice to hear
Congratulations
I didn't marry my Maple Street memories and now I'm glad I didn't because I met a girl from five blocks away and it's now been 63 years. Great song though....
Great to hear. I was engaged to my Maple Street memory but she passed away before we could be married. All these years later, I still think of her fondly.
Great times and a great song/video. Thanks Statler Brothers ....
Would love to talk to you
The before and after of the street alone proves the '50s at least looked better.
I love music videos like this. I wish they still made them
Wonderful,,song, by a wonderful group
I know I've been listening to for over 30 years
So sorry to hear about this loss. I've been a big fan for decades and have many albums.
Hey dear how are you doing over there ?
Long time ago (I was young) my father bought me The Statler Brothers' Cassette, I listened to it everyday then. I really miss the old good days. Oh how does time fly away? Will the time the good old time ever fly back?
They were all about memories. I am reading the anthology. Half way through in a year. I have to listen to nearly every after reading about it. Wonderful. Every fan should read it.
This is one of my favourites! I never got to see them in concert though.
Best in country by far! Love you all
Gin
Live they were all you hoped thy'd be. Consummate entertainers. Saw them twice.
They used to come to the Great Frederick Fair in Maryland. I heard them in 1995 not realizing it would be the last time they ever came there. So glad I did.
We all had a "Maple Street" to remember!
My"Maple Street" was Wilmore Drive in Charlotte, N.C. Good, happy memories
Redding St in High Point, NC for mine. Her name was Elizabeth, another great Statler Brothers song. My Aunt & Uncle lived not far from where this video was made, Alleghany Ave in Staunton, VA.
I finally married my "Maple St Memory" 28 years later. It's been thirteen years now, and not only is she my wife, she's my best friend and the best thing that ever happened to me...........twice!
Not all... My memories involve no street, just the fun times I had growing up in the Australian outback with only myself for company...
Mine was brachport New York still love that village
Just love so much of the time I miss
