    Great series! You are doing it live!! You have lots of guts to do this without disconnecting the negative battery cable before wiring the alarm in.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You do have to be careful when you splice in the factory wires and your cutter don't short out any metal parts in the car. I can tell you all installers never disconnect the battery because the process involves testing each wire and connecting it. So you need a functioning electrical system.

    • @dial2fast

      I used a soldering station that I got long time ago. Buy any 70+W solder station will work just fine. A soldering station will be able to hold the temperature much better. I use an extension cord and put the solder station in the car when I am doing the wiring. Something like this amzn.to/3JpvxZp

    I need some help in identifying the ignition(+) input and 12(+) input wires on the prestige remote starter. Have managed to connect all the wires from prestige to car and the by pass mode to the car for a jeep wrangler 2008, Now on the flash-logic type 3 wiring diagram I need to connect a pink-ignition wire(+) input and white-red ignition status (+) output to the ignition(+) on the remote starter.

    Your video is a big help for DIY installers, on your video 1, I saw you connected "Parking Light Reley Input" to ground, how do we know if our parking lights are ground switched? Thanks.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You first need to locate the parking light wire. Then use the multimeter to test if it has 12V when you turn on the parking light. If you don't see 12V, then set your multimeter to ohm measurement and test it to see if it goes to ground when the parking light is on. In my Video 1, I connected the parking light input wire (red/white) to ground because initially I followed the wiring cheat sheet and it said parking light was negative triggered. But in this install video, I found out the parking light wire is actually 12V, so I did have to disconnect the parking light input wire from the ground wire and connect it to a constant 12v source.

    Hello. Thank you for making these videos, they're very helpful. The only question I have is on how did you have your multimeter set up? usually you would need a negative feed as well but in you video you only seem to have one wire hooked up to the multimeter. Could you please explain and say what seeing you had it at?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can attach an alligator clip to the negative probe of the meter and clamp the other end to the metal chassis under the dash for the common connection.

    Hello... what did you do with the wire that was actually positive and in the instructions was negative? All other wires were the same as in the instructions? Thanks

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The remote start unit has a parking light input wire and a parking light output wire. Since this was tested to be positive, I connected the parking light input wire to positive 12V (instead of ground). There is a built in relay in the remote starter that switches the parking light input 12v to the parking light output wire allowing the parking light to flash.

    great as usual, let us know when you sell it, it will have a lot of accessories, lol. if the audio was off of sync, we don't see your face to know, right. are not these wires you patch into, under the hood or the way you do it is the professional installer way

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as the ign, acc, starter, those must be taken from the key ignition as that's where the voltage need to be energized. Also those connections at the bypass modules must be from those wires. The rest like brake, parking light, etc can be taken anywhere you get access to. In the old days, the only wires you need to pull from the engine is hood pin, tach wire, and siren, but now it's just the siren (at least for this car).

      Not familiar with these Viper models, but usually different models within a brand will have different wiring harness, especially if you step up in model where the higher models have more features. You will also need to program the new alarm. Not exactly plug and play.

I am working on a 2006 odyssey and the wiring is the same except that - park light from the column. I did unplug the green plug from the light switch and there was no red/blak wire. • @dial2fast

      On this Honda, you don't need to install pin switch because the car itself already has a hood switch and it's detected by the Flashlogic via the data connection which gets sent to the alarm to disable remote starter if hood is popped open.

    dail2fast you have a great car alarm video series, it's very clear and well done, thanks. I do need your help tho... I have a 95 mustang GT that I'm gonna install a Python 5106P into. the alarm installation guide and the vehicle diagram sheet have some terminology that I'm not familiar with.in the alarm install guide, what is a FLEX output? parking light isolation wire (pin 87a of onboard relay? on the vehicle diagram sheet, it talks about my power door locks being TYPE B since I have factory keyless entry, but only give instruction for TYPE C door locks which are without factory keyless entry, what do I do in that case?how do I wire the negative 200mA dome light output? is it safe to say that all the mA wires will need a relay on it? how is the relay wire for that? lastly I have a factory truck release, the alarm has an Aux 200mA negative trunk release output and a trunk pin / instant trigger input (N/C or N/O). what do I do with that?thanks in advance

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +PANTYEATR1 The negative output of 200mA should be connected to relays so you don't damage the alarm brain. You have quite a few questions which is hard to cover by typing here. I recommend you check out this website and their forum to learn the basics that you need to know before doing the install. They have many good resources there for you: www.the12volt.com/installbay/

      +dial2fast hey thanks for the help. the more i watch your videos and similar videos i start understanding more. What i learned is to connect the relay with 86 & 87 as the constant 12v, 30 is the load item and 85 is the alarm with the 200mA ground triggering the show.

    Hi I'm trying to find a tach wire on a 04 Hond odyssey ex but I can't find it . Tech sheet says it's a blue wire 2pin test connector above brake mater cylinder? ?? I don't see any 2pin connector above it. So I was trying to get a tach signal from the injector's wire located at the corner because it's hard to reach the ones located in the middle of the engine . Testing that wire in ac voltage it gives me a 0.1 volts and by pressing the gas pedal it increases up to 0.3 and some volts I'm not sure if this is a Good tach wire signal help please! !!!

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can't find the tach wire inside your vehicle, it's best to tap the wire on one of the ignition coil and then run that one wire into the vehicle. Typically that wire with engine running will give you 0.5VAC at idle and increases when you rev it. Make sure you measuring AC voltage and not DC.

      CARMELO Relente it sounds like your remote start unit isn't seeing the right constant, ignitons, and accessories, or starter wire. I'd look at the first 2. and it sounds like your siren is hooked up to constant or something else. it gets its power from the remote start. it's possible the unit may not have a good ground. would need a little more info

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kevinmontoya7318 When it comes to installing remote start system, couple things one must consider. The connection to the ignition and starter is high current. The connection needs to be 100% secure with 0% failure. If you look at the connection point of a T tap, it's applying pressure on two 'small' metal contacts on the wire. This connection is not reliable and over time it can fail with oxidation. Worse case is a possible electrical fire hazard with the connection heating up and melting. (BTW you have to use the right gauge size of T tap, not use a smaller gauge T tap on a bigger wire to force that tight connection as this will cut the copper strands and damage the wire). Any experienced installer will tell you they do not want to have a customer come back complaining of intermittent issues on the alarm / remote start system. Then you have to spend couple hours chasing down an intermittent issue (time is money). Any good experienced installer will know this and avoid this headache. Do it right one time instead of doing it wrong several times.
