Fun fact: Afterwards there was an epic adventurer of god-like proportions but nobody could remember it due to being blackout drunk. The Hangover: Norse God Edition followed by Dude where's my Chariot?
Did a few games like that. By the way, in Old Norse myth, Thor's chariot was drawn by two large goats. Loki, " So we have one missing glorify wheel art you call a .. chariot .. , .. and .. two stray .. goats. Brilliant ! So what's next O' wise prince of Asgard ?
Dael, personally I think your mythology videos are a huge part of the appeal of your channel. Theres tons of youtubers making DnD content (and yours is one of the few I’ve chosen to watch), but the way you explain mythologies is entertaining and also really inspiring for both RPG contexts and for writing. So keep doing the mythology videos!
05:00 - "So Thor stumbles outside, he sees the herd of cattle, he sees a really, pretty black bull, and he immediately - " (Apprehension growing) " - rips off its head." Oh, that's okay then. Was worried we were going a wife of Minos direction here. 07:21 - "All right...I've had a chance to cool down." When Hymir walked into the house earlier, his beard was frozen. He dove into the water to cut the line that snared Jormungandr. Having cooled down, Hymir should now be a Jotun popsicle. - Love your content, whether myth, D&D, or ought else!
They totally were. Just look at some of their other adventures: "Oh, let's all throw stuff at Baldr and see who can hit him!" "Hey, bro, wanna come with me to the realm of the giants and challenge them to an eating contest, a drinking contest, a race and a wrestling match?"
YES!! I originally heard Dael tell this story on the Geek and Sundry Vlogs channel, and I couldn't find it anywhere. So glad to hear this story again, even though the delivery's different.
I love your storytelling so much and especially since starting RuneQuest these Mythology videos have become more and more useful! Also, I love the shirt
"Tyr throws up his hand..." LMAO Tyr is the best, my favorite norse myth is of Tyr and Fafnir just being pals until Odin does what odin does and ruins things, and Try looses that trusty hand
Oh my god Thor is just the WORST PARTY POOPER. This could literally be a hollywood comedy with Thor being an absolute dork and getting the single worst outcome of every situation xD
If I hadn't subscribed already, this would have done it. Your D&D videos are fantastic, but you just outdid yourself with this one. You and the ancient Scandinavians, I suppose. (With stories like this, how could Norse mythology not be my favourite mythology?)
I've been following your channel for a couple of years and I don't think you have ever explicitly taken credit for the illustrations. Since you credit the music I assume they are your own. They are great.
Stories like this just confirm we humans haven't really changed much. This should be a looney tune. And that ancient art ... if I saw it without context I'd take it all serious. Like, "oh hey this must be Thor and the world serpent how serious and spiritual" but it's basically just the Viking equivalent of a goofy tiktok video.
Love the story with FratThor, and the ongoing bad impression on his mate's dad. Mythology question - I am given to understand that with pagan conversion generally, but with the norse specifically, there was a period where they accepted Jesus as another god, and worshipped him alongside Thor et al. Are there any eddas or stories where they try to weave in this random middle-eastern carpenter to hang with the Aesir?
You know, The thing is Thor isn't malicious, he honestly means well enough. He's just such a thick headed doofus jock though... I'd still rather deal with Thor than some of the people I actually had to deal with in high school though.
The mythology playlist doesn't have an order so it just uses the default set up of adding the most recent video up top. When I've occasionally done stories over a number of videos I make sure to manually rearrange them so they'll play in the right order.
I love D&D + I love ancient mythos = I REALLY love this channel. Subbed. However, while looking at the playlist for your mythology vids, I notice that the bottom end of it is a lot of so-called "private videos". Is this TH-cam having a bit of a brainfart with me and my computer, or are there some vids that are having issues?
I started making mythology videos on the Geek & Sundry Vlogs channel, which fairly recently decided to inexplicably private nearly all of them. They own the rights, so I can't reupload them to my channel, and even then I no longer have the original recordings for most of them. I keep the videos in the playlist just in case they decide to make them public again (the G&S Vlogs channel is still live and they've kept enough videos for a facade, so who knows). I am slowly redoing all the stories I covered for that channel, though, so you're not missing out on much other than my youth and inexperience with camera settings. :)
@@MonarchsFactory Ah, I see. Well, I shall enjoy continuing to watch the ones available, and eagerly await the new ones you release. Quite enjoying the channel!
Ancient Norse Artisan: "I have created art."
Dael: "Yes you have, and its adorable! We'll put it on the fridge!"
"If I had a nickel for every time Thor accidentally messed with Jormungandr, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice"
My grandma's 824th head really enjoyed this video
Thor trying to impress Hymir is every interaction I've ever had with my Father-in-Law...
This is the most relatable comment on TH-cam ever.
Shanana tv
"...or lack thereof." Classic. 🤣
Literally
"Tyr sticks up his his hand... or, you know, lack thereof."
Too soon, bro... Too soon. :D
The quest for more booze might just be the most relatable myth I've ever heard.
"I'll won't accept that you're strong unless you can break this." DID YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM THE GIANTS TRYING TO TRICK THOR INTO DRINKING THE SEA?!
Fun fact: Afterwards there was an epic adventurer of god-like proportions but nobody could remember it due to being blackout drunk. The Hangover: Norse God Edition followed by Dude where's my Chariot?
Did a few games like that.

Loki, " So we have one missing glorify wheel art you call a .. chariot .. , .. and .. two stray .. goats. Brilliant ! So what's next O' wise prince of Asgard ?
Between Dael and Chris Hemsworth I now assume all the Norse Gods sounded Australian.
You're not far off. According to "The Almighty Johnsons" they all sound like kiwis. Just right of Australia.
@@Bones6391 I loved that show!
Even obviously British Odin and Loki?
@@dubbingsync British is just pre-Austrailian, which makes sense in the mythology because Odin and Loki are older characters.

My DM notes, taking up almost the entire page: "Giant with laser vision."

Love your content, whether myth, D&D, or ought else!
You know, I've never thought of the Norse gods as a bunch of frat guys, but it works so well 🤣
They totally were. Just look at some of their other adventures:
"Oh, let's all throw stuff at Baldr and see who can hit him!"
"Hey, bro, wanna come with me to the realm of the giants and challenge them to an eating contest, a drinking contest, a race and a wrestling match?"
The art of Thor's foot through the boat is the most amazing thing I've seen.
Live for how your passion for mythology shows in your story telling.
Daelthor running around screaming "why won't you break?!" is my new favourite thing. :D
Your acting on Thor trashing the pillars made me really happy, thanks
2 minutes in and you had me rolling around laughing at the Tyr crack - absolutely love these videos...
"I don't only do D&D"
Let's face it, this is basically a recap of an average D&D session
I can definitely see a divination wizard dismemberming some animals to divine where the booze at.
All of Norse mythology is just a Monty Haul D&D campaign run amok.
Dang, Thor could've knocked out 899 of Tyr's Grandmas with that chalice and she'd have been fine
"Tyr bro, don't tell my dad or he's going to hang me from a tree or something... high five?"
I don't really have anything to add, except this is one of the best stories from Norse mythology.
PRAISE THE ALMIGHTY ALGORITHM.
The half drunk frat boy dialogue was great. 🤣
"Lots of new folks around. I see you."
-waves-
Those illustrations were spot on!
Drunk Thor is best Thor.
"Tyr sticks up his hand" (and Fenrir does too) 😂
I love hearing a myth I haven't heard before, and Thor's foot making an appearance is just frosting on this story-cake. :D
Literally everyone in this story is so relateable. Every one of them is experiencing something we've all experienced at some point. I love stories.
Stories are the best
YES!!
I originally heard Dael tell this story on the Geek and Sundry Vlogs channel, and I couldn't find it anywhere. So glad to hear this story again, even though the delivery's different.
I think a bunch of the Geek and Sundry Vlogs were made private a bit ago, so I agree, awesome to hear Dael telling them again :D
I knew I’d seen her tell this one before but it became my favourite myth of all time when I first heard it. So I’m happy to listen to it again.
I found you due to Matt colvile a while back but Ive grown to love these stories. Your storytelling is amazing.
A very apropos video to wake up to after spending all night fishing for sea-monsters in Valheim.
I love your storytelling so much and especially since starting RuneQuest these Mythology videos have become more and more useful! Also, I love the shirt
Subscribed for the mythology. Stuck around for the mythology. Happy camper!
This simple but beautiful video may be the platonic ideal of Dael Kingsmill mythology videos
"Tyr throws up his hand..." LMAO Tyr is the best, my favorite norse myth is of Tyr and Fafnir just being pals until Odin does what odin does and ruins things, and Try looses that trusty hand
you mean Fenrir, Fafnir is the dragon killed by Siegfried
Now i really want to adapt your Kraken encounter dnd video for a squabble with “The serpent that circles the world”
Oh my god Thor is just the WORST PARTY POOPER.
This could literally be a hollywood comedy with Thor being an absolute dork and getting the single worst outcome of every situation xD
'Dude, where's my kettle?'
Hymir’s Bull: *eats grass peacefully*
Thor: YOU GOTTA FIGHT! FOR YOUR RIGHT! TO PAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTY!!!
This is a brilliantly told story. Just the best. Dael, you're amazing.
That Thor cauldron shimmy...
Thor and the Æsir in “Cān’t Håerdlî Wáįtė”
This is the first time I’ve seen ZERO dislikes on a video with more than like a dozen views lmao, Dael is just that good of a creator.
This is like the prologue to the next Hangover moving, "Hangover: Thor"
The drawings were so, so excellent
So adorable. I wonder if Dionysus might have had a bigger party. You should do a comparison.
this reminded me of a Demetri Martin bit with the music and sketches. I loved it!
One of my favorites, well told by one of my favorites. It was a good day.
Hooray! Back to the Norse frat of World University, never a dull moment. Uncanny, really.

I like how you say they, but it's really all Thor XD
I love the animations and enthusiast way you relay these stories.
More myths!
Shame on TH-cam for not notifying me of this. I love your myth content!

The background is very clear, but you're a little bit blurry. But the story was very good! I like the part with the chalice.
The only way to make this better would be if someone acted this out, Drunk History style

Attn marvel.

Can't really blame Tyr there, 900 heads of G'ma nagging. . .yeesh. . .
I've never been this early to a video. Also can I go to the Asgardan party. For the adventure in the middle of it.
Hiting us with the early morning mythology dael.
The reenactment doodles are just the best! The cherry on top of a very delicious cake!(And you love cherries the best)

I don't remember this tale from Gaiman's book. Why would he leave the most important story out? WHY!?
I mean the one where he SK∅L'd the ocean was pretty boss, but what do you do once you're done with the Ægir?
900 grandma kisses! Haha
