Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. I do all my own work on my 1990 7.3 idi International. My brakes need to be pumped to stop and it's leaking right by the booster. Ordered the new part but I always like to watch a video first. Thanks again, just what I needed to see.
@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 trying to figure out if my booster is leaking or the master cylinder. its leaking where they meet right by the electric pump.. any ideas? rtv? :)
@robstuckey If it is leaking inside the cab by the Brake Pedal. It is the Powerhead Booster. If it is leaking at the Firewall. It can still be the Powerhead Booster. If that's the case. Observe your Brake fluid level. If you are losing Brake Fluid. Then I would say you have a Bad rear Seal on the Master Cylinder. I hope that helps. Thank you
Thanks, this was exactly what we needed. Can you tell me, if that sensor on the Master is disconnected (missing), will it cause the buzzer inside to come on each time the hand brake is released?
Thank you! The switch on the Master Cylinder need to be connected. It is there to notify you if there is an issue with the Master Cylinder. The Switch do not have anything to do with the hand brake.
@@josefilmspvd make sure that you are bleeding the two lines at the master cylinder one at a time. If it is hard at the pedal. Do it with the engine running.
Hi o would like to ask you a question about the brake getting hard and not being able to press down. I change the master and bleed the line and still the breke pedal is hard as a rock.
You may have air trapped in the lines. By you putting on a New Master Cylinder. Make sure you bleed it before you bleed your lines. When you bleed your line. Start with the one that is further back like the rear rear caliper.
@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 Thank you for the quick reply, I have already bled the lines in that order I also bled the master cylinder and also I have great power steering, which makes no sense withe the problem I'm having.
Do you have a video of the following: I removed the parking brake housing to change pads. And I see oil coming through by the spline that the brake bolts up to.
Yes, You need to lift the frontend up and do not start the vehicle. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right. And re-check power steering fluid before starting engine.
how do you know if the issue is with the hydroboost or the master cylinder? do they work independent of each other or is the hydroboost similar to the brake booster in GM's?
If the Hydroboost is bad. You can have hard steering and hard brake pedal. A bad Master Cylinder can show signs like soft brake pedal and delay brake respond.
My brake light warning with the !P on the warning and a continuous beeping. Please help. Nothing comes up when you look for fault codes on truck or scanner.
@Joe Lara If you have screwed the end of your PB Lever all the way in. Inspect your cable and make sure the PB Lever is not broken. If they are fine. You will need to pull off your drum. Sometimes a leaking transmission rear seal can disable your parking brakes.
Hey sir, I sent you an email with some questions regarding the hydroboost system. Is the email in your about section still your most current email to contact you on?
Question, does a hissing noise like if air was coming out of the system be signs of a bad unit? Truck brakes , however there a loud hissing noise when I go beyond half the pedal, I believe the rear brakes aren’t engaging correctly also? I had to replace a rear tire and the pads arent worn and the rotor doesnt even have any markings on it like it has been used.. any insight would be greatly appreciated please
Normally fluid leakage , increase in stopping distance and hard steering are the signs of a bad Hydrobooster. I never heard one making a loud noise like an Air Brake System.
did you locate the issue? i have a similar issue my hydroboost comes on when i apply the brake with the key off, but it never powers on with the key on engine off. I think my issue might be the sensor on the top of the hydroboost, i do not have any wires plugged into the sensor and i do not see any plug that matches the sensor in the wire loom.

Awesome 👌
Thanks again for the help!!
What is the bolt on the front of the master cylinder for. The one on the very front
Great job
I have fluid leaking under the dash ( inside truck ) would the master cylinder cause that or the booster you replaced.
Thanks and great video
Good question, the Master Cylinder is fine. It will be the Booster leaking Power Steering Fluid inside the cab.
are you pumping the brakes as you would in a car, pump pump pump , hold at the bottom then ? then release the pressure?
Yes Sir 👍
@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 the pedal is super hard so it tough to bleed out, ever ran into that

I don't think that I have made a video on a leaking Transmission rear Seal yet.
Is the electric motor suppose to run all the time as long as key is on ?

Yes,

Mine is leaking under the Reservoir not bad but bad enough is there a couple of rubber grommets underneath the plastic reservoir, thanks
If you are talking about the Master Cylinder. You will need to replace it.
Mines is leaking between mater cylinder and powerhead what could be the issues its leaking brake fluid
Sounds like your Master Cylinder rear seal is leaking. I would replace the Master Cylinder.

Check your Brake Warning Switch on the bottom side of your Master Cylinder. I have found them to fell or be broken.
After i did all this my brakes are a little hard. Am i missing something?
Make sure all the air is out of your Power Steering system and your P/S Fluid level is correct .
Would this have anything to do with the PB not engaging at all?
No Sir

Why didn't you just separate the master cylinder by the bolts between them instead of loosening the the brake lines...?
Where can I buy a good oem one other then at the dealer for $961
If you have a local Fleet Pride Store. I would try them.
