Matt, your videos are what convinced me to get a 2022 road glide limited over the special or the ST. The amount of extra stuff you get for only about $1400-1500 is pretty awesome. I love this bike.
I bought my first Harley this past July and have learned more about them from this channel than anywhere else. Plus, I love the weekend trip videos!🤘Keep up the good work.
I know you appreciate feed back whether it is good or bad so here goes. I have a 2018 cvo ultra limited. I have been riding for 35 years, I started early :). I personally would not get the reflex defensive rider system, ABS braking is definitely a plus but controlling my speed and monitoring my bike lean I believe is taking away from the rider experience. I do 100% agree that harley needs to upgrade the suspension system to me it's a no brainer because when a potential cutsomer goes for a test ride that's the first feeling the rider will notice if they are inferior. I have always had a soft spot for the batwing and I could never go back now that I have owned 2 cvo's. So it is bitter sweet that they don't make the the ultra limited in a cvo anymore that's the bitter part the sweet part is my cvo went up in price LOL. Joking aside I do hope it's only temporary and that they come back with the option of the cvo because I won't be upgrading till then. I love the detail you put into your video's I consider your video's the go to for information and that's what I tell all the people I meet.
I agree completely on the rider defensive system, upgrading the suspension would accomplish much of what the system is meant to, maybe for new riders it could be an advantage but for me, like you, have been riding for 45 years counting dirt bikes as a kid, I'd much rather nothing interfere with the feel of the road through my bike. Well Said Sir, and I too hope they come back with the CVO Ultra.
I got the Ultra about 2 weeks ago and have done around 2,000km on it since then. Just had a stage 2 fitted to it a couple of days ago. I also got highway pegs fitted and have a rider backrest on order - otherwise it will stay fairly stock. I absolutely love the bike. It's a big, heavy machine, but handles great for its size and is extremely easy to ride. At very slow speeds in traffic, it can take a bit of getting used to, as it feels a bit top-heavy. I am 6ft 3 and I would definitely recommend the highway pegs for long distances on this bike, but it is such a comfortable bike to ride.
🛑🛑 Great Video Matt 😀👍!! I was one of the guys that said I would never own a “Geezer Glide”, but to honest, my CVO Ultra Limited has been the best Harley I have ever had. The storage, and flexibility of the bike; just offers so many different options. I’m Happy on the “Geezer Glide” 😂👍💯. Nice Mustache By The Way 👍
You easily one of the top 3 TH-cam channels! Your presentations are spot on. Next year I turn 65, going to treat myself to a big bagger, currently have a 21 RKS , and 20 Slim. Tough call on the limiteds or Street Glide special. Think you sold me on the Ultra Limited! Loved the Sturgis Blogs….your kids at end was your best addition yet! Keep ‘em coming!
Thanks Jeff! Treat yourself my friend. You sound like a long-haul rider - get the limited. I'll have to include my kids more. They love being in the videos. haha
I just bought a 2020 Ultra Limited after an anguished decision making process between it and the SG. The Ultra is so much more bike for the money. I do plan to add the removable tour pack. Thanks, Matt, for helping me with the decision.
Well said Matt. I have the ulta ltd. TK 2014 Rushmore. It's late November here near the west coast Canada. Riding in 45 F. weather and can really appreciate the ferring and leg guards . I really like the cruise control and the heated grips. The stereo is very easy to hear while travelling. Can put a lot of gear in the cargo space and all locks up. These bikes are built to last. Cheers.
Great video man, I hope you never stop making these videos. They’re awesome. We don’t watch them just once you like playing over and over again like we were working on the bikes in the garage and stuff. Yeah it’s entertainment.
I traded my Ultra Limited for a Road Glide Standard back in May. Then, I added all that tour pack stuff, including a nicer seat and speakers. It still didn’t have the lowers which I noticed a lot when the temperatures starting dropping. I bought soft lowers to get me by. But, the whole time, I was missing the ride with the travel on the shocks. And, like you’ve mentioned, the lower leg fairings with the additional cooling properties, my bike ran cooler. I really noticed that in Sturgis and on my trip there this year. My engine got so hot, it was pushing oil out with the temperatures over 100 degrees most days. I never had that on my UL. So, after looking back at all that, I traded my RG for an Ultra Limited once again at the end of the year. I know you didn’t cover the fairings in this one, but I am glad to be back behind the batwing fairing too.
In August of 2021 I traded my 2003 Road King in on a 2016 Ultra Limited. I'll never go back to a smaller bike. Love the extra storage space, ride, riding comfort, heated grips, heated seat. Wish I would have done this years ago. Get the Limited to start out with you will love the extra storage space, ride comfort and many more upgraded features. Love my lower faring's for blocking wind, rain, bugs. So many upgrades on the Limited you will be adding to your special. Once you have the upgrades you will never go back to a special.
I love the paint set, the black package, the whole bike, but I can live without the adrs, coming from someone who's been riding bikes since the age of 5, I don't want a computer interfering with the feel of the road through my bike, although I guess it would be an advantage for newer riders, although a high end suspension would help with the handling of the bike imo. Always a classy look at the new HD's Matt, can't wait til your 120th anniversary edition reviews my friend. Such a beautiful bike.
Good honest review Matt thanks, Ive got a batwing Ultra, just did a 4500 road trip, I have to say without a doubt its best, if you want serious long haul comfort, its the keeper 100%
Matt, great video. I purchased my 12 FLHTK in 2012 and never looked back. As a Geezer I don't care for the naked bike. I'm 72yo and been riding since 1969. I popped a Chubby when I saw the Full Dressed Harley. You can't wipe the smile from my face every time that I take her out. That 103 is like the Chevy 350, it pulls like out of this world. This bike is the best thing that I've done for myself in 50 years. Oh yeah, my other best bike was my 71 EG in green. It went like a scalded ape. PS, there's nothing prettier that a Black Full Dressed Hog!!
Another great presentation and description by you Matt. You are a natural, man. You Rock always. You have persuaded me to buy the Ultra limited. Makes sense. I'd be interested in getting the detachable tour pack. So the tour pack can come off for just getting around town. It can be reattached when going for the long roads trips. Great prices with all the features really. Looking to buying my bike next year. Within the next 12 months. Thank you for your great presentation TH-cam videos. Cheers. Tony from Down under. 😊👍🏽🍻🇦🇺🙏
Great Video Matt, thanks for sharing and explaining the differences. I bout a 2022 SG standard and bought all the extras you just spoke of and cost me well over 6K. Now I'm looking at a limited and trading in the SG.
Great review as as always Matt. I have a 2020 CVO Limited and love it. I’m 5’8” and 160 lbs, but skill is key. I’ve last slung it on HWY 276 in North Carolina and the Blue ridge parkway. The 117 has plenty of power for my skill set. What are those zipper gloves you wear?
Informative video as always Matt, I just bought a new 2022 Ultra Limited here in Florida. Spent weeks to decide do I buy the Ultra, Street Glide or the ST? After much back and forth I realized the Ultra is the way to go for what you actually get on this for the price. You touched on all the positive points but many fail to realize how good the lowers can be if you do any kind of highway distance. Controls wind fatigue, cold, reduces bugs and huge difference in the rain. For those who say to hot, put your legs up on the highway pegs (a must have) as the wind flows right up your legs to your body, no issues. Where I am in Orlando area the idea is as you say buy the Ultra Limited and then do the quick detach tour pack and add turn/running lights down below. The twin cooling makes a difference as the fan is definitely running when I come to a stop. AND yes the four speakers you do hear for sure with no passenger, makes a difference. Question for you, I can't find any data on the vent within the batwing in terms of the aerodynamics, and can I block the hole? I cant find anywhere an aftermarket product to plug this hole. I do believe given the bumps in the opening that we do have some aero effects for minimizing head buffeting and perhaps additional downforce at high speed. But, the other day in a heavy rain at highway speeds I sure wasn't thrilled with water that I perceived coming through that hole. Any thoughts on this, have you talked to a Harley engineer on this topic. Many thanks!!!!!
If you ride two up and travel long distances, the Limited line is the way to go plus you get more bang for the buck by far. If I had known now what I knew then, and as Matt mentioned, there is a detachable mount you can get then get another lower profile seat for riding solo and way cheaper going that route than buying a street/road glide and making it a touring model.
I bought a Road Glide standard back in May. The Reef Blue color as a solid color is what I wanted. Now, I did a stage 3 (119), bought the tour pack, the speakers, heated hand grips, etc… I know I paid more for mine than I would have with the Limited, but I have basically a 1 of a kind. I also bought a Saddleman seat with the blue stitching. That was a nice touch. The only thing I miss now is the lower fairings. I bought some soft fairings to get me through this winter, but I will probably get the hard, color-matched lowers next year.
I wish I'd done a little more research before I bought my 21 RGS. It was a great, beautiful bike (Billiards Red with black and black accents) but then I was in the dealer less than a year later and saw the RGL in Apex with Black accents and fell in love with it. I traded the RGS and the rest is history. I'd already spent a ton in upgrades on the RGS, which sucked, and I was building a RGL, but just didn't realize it. Already had the King Tourpack, heated grips, TPMS, Stage 2, etc. I uninstalled what I could, but took a hit. In the end, I'm ok with my choice, because I do really love the RGL. Great video and advice.
Got the same RG two tone but with the blacked out finish. Just love this bike so much. Had to wait a loooong time before i got to ride it after ordering, but i'm so glade i sticked with my decision . I got mine late nov 2021.
Matt, I did the same thing when making my first decision and bought the Limited. The only thing you left out was the limited has the rear crash bar that saves your rear bag paint if you accidentally drop your bike.. Great video !
You make a lot of sense on this video. I bought a Street Glide about 4 yrs ago and have slowly been turning it into an Ultra. I should have bought smarter. I didn’t realize just how rough a Street Glide rode with the low suspension.
I own an FLHTK Ultra 2019, my opinion, delete optional paint, add Legends front & rear suspension. Secondly, I agree with Matt where the value of the Ultra is best but he forgets to mention that if you load up a Special just like an Ultra, the resale value of a Special will still be the price of a Special no matter how much $$ you put into it, while the Ultra will be worth a lot more in resale value even if you keep it stock. That is a big financial consideration.
Another great comparison video!! Its easy to say just buy the cheaper bike and then build it up. The cost really does add up fast, even it you can do all the work yourself. I also find factory installed items always seem to fit and work better than ones installed later.
I picked up the Road Glide Limited in the Apex with blackout accents back in Sept. I am on the other side of the country, or I'd visited your dealership. I absolutely love it with one exception. That is the angle with the jiffy stand. It just leans too much to me. I had the dealer look at it just to ensure everything was ok. They said it was normal and it was due to the additional height compared to my previous Street Glide. I have to watch where I stop so it doesn't lean where it's a struggle to get back upright. The seat and bars are great and I don't see a need to replace. I've added a ton already but it doesn't need much. It really shines on the highways. I always watch your videos and if I ever get back close, I'd like to stop in. On occasion, I will go to Mission Viejo and Fontana which isn't that far form you. Thanks for all in the content you put out.
I have a 19 Streetglide special but I like how you said with the limited you can get the removal kit. Thats definitely the way to go! Great video Matt!
Great advice matt. The limited is not a good 1st bike choice. It's for a seasoned advanced rider imo. I've had 12 motorcycles. U can literally haul 10 huge bags of groceries! Its really amazing!
Awsome..thx 4 reaching out that was cool.. I'm at work right now..driver..I'll check it when I get home.. shout out from cold cold Philadelphia.. jesSe
ROAD GLIDE for me like how i cuts thru the air so much better, I've got a 2018 FLTRU with 75, 000 kms. on it, stage 2 with legend suspension fron and back, wish I had them since stock but best upgrade i've done
Wife and I each ride Softails, even long distances,. The baggers are not ours style, but the Apex models are freaking awesome. That paint and blacked out look is amazing. Do have heated grips on both the 2016 Slim and 2020 Street Bob. Not really all that hard to install. If you think you don't need them, don't ever try them. If you do, you will get them, they will now be a mandatory upgrade.
I’ve always had Ultra Limiteds but last year I traded my 2016 UL in on a 2021 Road Glide Limited. I like that the Batwing fairing provides more close up protection. This year on my northwest tour I noticed that the U-shape RG fairing as it wraps around the fork echoes back at you a lot of engine noise and road noise. The Ultra is much quieter.
Not in the market for one of these right now, but if I were I definitely would get the full touring version over the RG or SG. I would like to see a comparison between the two different fairings and how the wind protection differs between the two. I have heard that the batwing has more of a bubble for the rider since it is closer to them. The sharknose has a bit less especially for the passenger since it's further away. I haven't ridden either one, so I'm just stating what I've heard. I personally prefer the layout of the gauges in the batwing fairing over the sharknose. I also prefer the standard bags and would not get the RDRS. My biggest problem is that my favorite would be the Sand White in chrome, but that isn't an available option. I saw a SG standard set up this way and it was simply stunning. Thanks for another great comparison video Matt. Love seeing what the differences are in these bikes.
I got into Harley’s far too late in life , running a 1993 heritage that I absolutely love. I have a few elderly relatives who I may have to get a little closer too…..
Prefer the Ultra Limited because I like the fairing layout more. Everything is closer to the rider. Also like the handle bar positioning of the Ultra Glide more. Both look cool to me though. I do appreciate the additional storage of the road glide fairing.
Yes good comment about the bars, I have significant shoulder issues, operations and bicep, with my Ultra I can keep my shoulders down lower and tucked in to my body. Anything with wide bars and up high would be a deal breaker. Anyone with shoulder issues for sure should try stock bars on an Ultra.
Having tuff on my 2014 "Totally~Loaded" Project Rushmore.. Just waiting for the colors for the Anniversary Edition on the 2023... & a killer M.L. deal...
I have a 20 rg limited its amazing, 😊best bike I've ever had. I came from bmw, you know what i luv Harley Davidsons much more, btr dealer network and much more aftermarket accessories. U gotta own one 2 understand...
The kids were great that was a nice touch. In 2010 at 60 years old I bought my first Harley. It was a 2006 Ultra Classic with 8,000 Mi. We are 12 years down the road the bike now has 116,000 miles on it. I would not ride anything else. And I came from a Honda Goldwing.
Glad you got your boys in there at the end! Freaking awesome! So that Ultra Limited is almost the same as a CVO with the exception of the 117ci on the CVO? Oh and lowers, and tour pack.
I enjoy your videos Matt and this was another good one. My dream is to one day upgrade my 2002 Fatboy to a new Ultra Limited. That Apex paint scheme is really nice in my opinion. I appreciate both the Ultra Limited and Road Glide Limited but lean towards to Ultra Limited.
Apex really nice. It is awesome. 🤣 not a Bagger guy, but that paint could make me one to look that cool. I'll stick to Softails, but that is some nice biker porn.
The Limited's are sweet rides, I bought a RGS because I already had a Tour Pack that I used on my 2007 Street Glide but if I had to do it again I would probably go with the Limited, I have never been a fan of the lowers so that's the only negative.
I'll add my 2 cents. I mentioned in one of your other videos of veering from hd when I wanted a touring bike this past yr. I still also have my heritage which is such a fun bike. Next Gen touring bikes need better suspension and probably a electronic adjustable one as an option. All led.....turn signals!! Get into the 21 century with a wireless comm system standard and ditch the wired connection. This is debatable but I sure do love my electric adjustable windshield on my bmw. Make keyless locking an option on non cvo bikes. Indian checks off all these but....they don't have the fit and finish of harley and harley just can't be beat in the paint option area. For a premium touring bike these should be either available or standard. Harley makes great bikes and hoping they keep up with the competition. It's fierce.
Being a shorter rider (5'6") I have loved my 2015 Ultra Limited Low...but now what do I do? I feel way too short for the regulat UL...I feel like Harley forgot a "smaller" portion of the market.
I want a bagger, but I am only 5'7". I am told the heritage is a good compromise, but I would prefer the touring frame if it is a significant difference. Thoughts?
The country where I live, the Netherlands, is quit crowded with traffic, also the roads are more narrow up to very tight ountry roads. I would love to own a bike like the electric glide, but I presume it is not the best bike for these circumstances. Or is it though? Would you please be so kind to share your opinion on this matter?
First off, I don’t know about the mustache, Matt lol… so is the frame on my 13th anniversary limited the same as everything after 14 ?because I had a 15 road glide at the same time of the limited and it felt like the frame was bigger. Maybe it was just accessories that were bigger?
Hello friends. I prefer the Roadglide special. A beautiful machine. And the awesome colors and paint lines are more to see. It could have the 131 on board but so what... I would change the exhaust, the handlebar and the pegs, then it would be perfect. @Matt: your "Schnörres" is hot. ✌️😋 Peace and love from Germany
Matt, your videos are what convinced me to get a 2022 road glide limited over the special or the ST. The amount of extra stuff you get for only about $1400-1500 is pretty awesome. I love this bike.

👍Appreciate your audience, for watching I've got a Package for you .. Let's converse with the above name on Telegram ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

I bought a new 2022 RG Limited in Gunship Grey & blacked out , Stage 2 torque cam , w upgraded Screamin Eagle hi flow oil pump , billet cam plate , & Screamin Eagle Ohlin’s rear shocks , upgraded Rockford Fosgate speakers w/Amp! Luv this ride & the color!

It's hard to beat a Matt Laidlaw bike review. Fantastic job sir
You’re kids did a great job Matt....so cool that they’re already helping the old man out 3rd generation👍
i totally Agree the Ultra is more a long haul ready out of the box.

Your kid's did a great job on the closing sequence 😀👍
Awesome video Matt,so cool an cute to have your little one at the end❤
All about the tour pack. Once you have that storage space, you’ll never look back.
Its really amazing!
your right about the limited. will take your advice. anyone that buys a Harley is going to travel..
Awsome..thx 4 reaching out that was cool..
I'm at work right now..driver..I'll check it when I get home..
shout out from cold cold Philadelphia..

Your kids did a good job! Make sure they know your subscribers approve 🤘🏻
ROAD GLIDE for me like how i cuts thru the air so much better, I've got a 2018 FLTRU with 75, 000 kms. on it, stage 2 with legend suspension fron and back, wish I had them since stock but best upgrade i've done
I thought my 2017 Limited had 12 inch shocks. That was the length of Legends shock that I replaced Harly's Fisher Price shock!

That’s an interesting observation. Haven’t heard that before.
Both of these are fantastic bikes but have the RG Ltd myself. That Apex paint is absolutely top notch!! Thanks Matt for the review!
Nice man. Enjoy. Yea, the apex came out nicely.

Great video as always, Matt. Excellent job by your kids at the end !
Haha. Thanks.

Yea, I really like the fact that the screen is closer too.
ЭТО ЧУДО ИЗ КОСМОСА.!сшю!
Love the Apex paint!!!!
Nice review Matt, thanks. Ride safe from Sydney Australia 👍
Now that’s a sharp paint job
Great straight to the point video Matt 👍🏽
Andrew says it best in another video. All roads lead to the Limited!!
Yes sir.
Damn that is a great looking paint job
Great video Matt as always. I think Harley should make stretched bags standard on the Limited's.
I totally agree!!!!
@@kevincarnes7598 Wouldn't be hard to do at all.
Great video Matt. Nothing better than Harley Davidson!
Always 100% Matt. Like ice cream. There’s always something for someone. Life’s short. Just buy the bike! Ride safe and often. Peace

The kids were great that was a nice touch.
In 2010 at 60 years old I bought my first Harley.
It was a 2006 Ultra Classic with 8,000 Mi.
We are 12 years down the road the bike now has 116,000 miles on it.
I would not ride anything else.
And I came from a Honda Goldwing.
always thorough thanks again Big Guy. ☘🌵🌲
And i was about to mess up and get the special...thank you!!!! Thinking 2015-2018 more my price range??🙏🏼🙏🏼
Beautiful bikes. Love that paint.
Oh my! Strong!
Glad you got your boys in there at the end! Freaking awesome! So that Ultra Limited is almost the same as a CVO with the exception of the 117ci on the CVO? Oh and lowers, and tour pack.
Rgs look kewl cruising down the road...😊
Always great videos Matt but all I can see is that horrible Unfinished passenger pegs staring at me lol…
The stock seat is really not bad.
Great video Matt. See ya soon 🤛🤛

Once Again Great Information on a couple of.models.....Great Job Matt.

The Limited's are sweet rides, I bought a RGS because I already had a Tour Pack that I used on my 2007 Street Glide but if I had to do it again I would probably go with the Limited, I have never been a fan of the lowers so that's the only negative.

I have struggled owning Harley Davidson’s. Is it a weed or a flower? So I jumped to the Polaris Challenger.
I love my 2020 ultra limited.
I'm proud of u matt, ur a good boy!😅
Being a shorter rider (5'6") I have loved my 2015 Ultra Limited Low...but now what do I do? I feel way too short for the regulat UL...I feel like Harley forgot a "smaller" portion of the market.
I want a bagger, but I am only 5'7". I am told the heritage is a good compromise, but I would prefer the touring frame if it is a significant difference. Thoughts?
It’s a significant difference but they each have their strengths. Maybe look at the low rider ST as well
Great information!! Thanks
matt both models are great.
True.
I wanted the sg, but a dealership talked me into a rg...
Great video Matt! What type of video camera are you holding while riding? It looks tiny.
It’s the DJI. We just starting trying it out. I usually use GoPro. We are just mixing things up
@@MattLaidlaw ok. Thnx. I usually use a GoPro too. May have to try the DJI just for the size convenience.

Hi Matt, why doesn't Harley call the Ultra Limited the Street Glide Limited? Thx
If you trace the lineage of the ultra limited back 20 years it will make more sense.
@@MattLaidlaw Thx for getting back to me so quickly. Love the channel.
How much for reverse on the limited??
The country where I live, the Netherlands, is quit crowded with traffic, also the roads are more narrow up to very tight ountry roads. I would love to own a bike like the electric glide, but I presume it is not the best bike for these circumstances. Or is it though? Would you please be so kind to share your opinion on this matter?
First off, I don’t know about the mustache, Matt lol… so is the frame on my 13th anniversary limited the same as everything after 14 ?because I had a 15 road glide at the same time of the limited and it felt like the frame was bigger. Maybe it was just accessories that were bigger?
How tall is the shock that comes on the standard street/ road glide
Watching on my phone and had to skip into the video just to check that the thumbnail was you with that filthy stache haha.
Sweet bikes good video

Hello friends. I prefer the Roadglide special. A beautiful machine. And the awesome colors and paint lines are more to see. It could have the 131 on board but so what... I would change the exhaust, the handlebar and the pegs, then it would be perfect. @Matt: your "Schnörres" is hot. ✌️😋 Peace and love from Germany

I have a 2022 Heritage 114 that I'm not very happy with. I'm thinking about trading it for either a Road Glide Limited or a BMW R1250RT.
