- We're on a narrowboat in a storm! After several fallen trees, Silver Fox gets trapped on the Stratford Canal by Storm Ciara as we explore Britain by Narrowboat.
We begin in Illshaw Heath, visiting the gorgeous Wedges Bakery before cruising through Hockley Heath towards the Lapworth Locks.
At Kingswood Junction, we have to decide whether to continue down the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal towards Stratford or bear left onto the Grand Union Canal.
We get trapped by fallen trees after Storm Ciara sweeps through, the first major storm narrowboat Silver Fox has been caught up in. But where do we end up?

Keep heading south fellas , only 22000 locks to get to the beautiful Basingstoke Canal. It's not that long though , about the length of a babies arm. Keep up the good work.

Port side, hurmf, port is always on the left side of the pointy end of the boat, when looking towards the pointy bit from the blunt end or stern. This is irrespective whether you looking forward or backwards. So the Christmas tree factory was on your starboard side. Just saying, use it, or dont use it.

Strange thing those xmas trees (to the south :-) ) never seem to grow .... every springtime they still seem to be the same size they were last year... wonder why?
You are correct - the trees were on their starboard side - but as Colin said "Your port", so he was correct, as the trees were indeed on the left/port/red light side of our screens.
@@davidcollins9512 Starboard is always on the right side when facing foward towards bow...of any boat. The terms are used to stop left/right confusion.. unlike, camera left/stage right.

Yeah, the CRT have been working their backsides off this last few weeks. Hundreds of fallen tress, landslips, and even part of a canal lock system washed away 😬

I missed your last couple of vlogs, good to see you still maintaining your high standards.
Good to see you got yourself serviced by that nice mechanic. Those recent storms have caused havoc all over the country, causing misery to many people. The good side of it is that in Yorkshire situation, you can visit almost anywhere you want in the country, there is enough water for Silver Fox. Be careful on the Avon, you might find the current particularly strong.

We're stuck on the North Stratford Canal ourselves at the moment. I'm sure there's no connection, but the broken lift bridge that's trapping us is one featured in this video (bridge 28). The C&RT website initially said there would be an update on the repairs next Monday, but has now updated the update date to next Wednesday.

You pay for a licence. It varies on the size of your boat.
A strange question, when you are trying your engine at 800 rpm , can you guess what the revs would be of the prop? Thinking about alternative propulsion source.
