    If you're not a professional, then you are testimony to all of us that being a professional isn't necessary to create beautiful, unique miniatures out of humble and often unexpected materials, meaning that we none of us need be wealthy to afford to own wonderful mini works of art...

    A beautiful piece of miniature furniture! Your store reminds me of the grocers' shops of my childhood, before everything was pre-packaged. Sugar, flour and dried pulses scooped into strong brown paper bags, bread wrapped in tissue paper, cheese cut with a wire and cured meat and bacon cut in a slicing machine! Memories in miniature! ❤

      I thought the same. My grandma had one of these stores, and a cabinet like that, but in chipped ivory color. And in a bin beside it was the salt in a block and you had to chisel it off, in little triangle shaped paper bags. I think, I am really old. But I absolutely love this.

    Instead of having to glue layers of card stock together you can use chipboard which comes in many different thicknesses. Sometime you can also get off cuts from a frame shop of the matte board they use.

    • @Lauras-tinyview
      @Lauras-tinyview  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thank you so much for the tip I appreciate it. Absolutely great advice. The chipboard is really the best option. Unfortunately I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders and cutting through thick chipboard would really flare things up for me. Plus I’m trying to keep my cost down.

    This wall unit turned out amazing. It looks like a real one made out of wood. Even your knobs look real. How long did it take you to make, if you don’t mind me asking? It turned out so well, I can’t believe it was made out of paper, it just amazes me. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

    • @Lauras-tinyview
      @Lauras-tinyview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much! 😊 I don’t mind at all. I really wanted to get this video out there so I had something besides weathered wood videos lol. I worked for about 2 1/2 days solid. But probably about a week if I worked slowly on it. I also precut my pieces on my silhouette cutting machine to speed it up. But the cutting machine is not necessary. It’s just basic shapes that can be cut by hand. Cutting by hand it would take maybe a week and a half. I used to do that all the time making 1/6 scale furniture but my arthritis doesn’t allow it anymore lol.

    • @Lauras-tinyview

      Thank you very much!! 😊 I usually look at real pictures of furniture for inspiration. So I might like something on one piece and something else from another. That way I customize it the way I like it. Then let’s says it’s a bookcase I will look at the height width etc of real furniture and do the math to get the scale I’m working in. Which I try to stay 1/16 scale. I wish I could work in 1/12 scale but I live in an apartment and have to keep it small. I would work smaller scale but then I would have issues seeing it 😂. I sure hope I explained that where it wasn’t to confusing.

    A lovely piece of furniture.

    • @Lauras-tinyview
      @Lauras-tinyview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I thought about that but figured it would get confusing. I work in 1/16 scale and 1/12 is the most common. I am not math strong to convert it to everyone’s scale lol. So I thought it could be good inspiration to inspire others to draw up their own measurements.

    • @candacemackey7545
      @candacemackey7545 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Lauras-tinyview That scale is different. I have an antique dollhouse. About 120 years old and I think it must be close to that scale. It’s too big for 1/24 and too small for 1/12. So it’s sitting and waiting for inspiration. I’m not math strong either. 😉 If I was I think I’d work in centimeters. I will use yours for inspiration. I’m already thinking.
      Have a Merry Christmas.
