I'm a female just turned 40 and applied for an apprenticeship with a house building company. Not sure if I will get it but I have been watching your videos and love them, learning so much! I want to really understand all the details and be able to work independently doing footings etc. Keep up the great work!
Charlie im a carpenter and i was like you 100 miles an hour then i had a accident cannot walk or talk but im a lot better now but am disabled now you must slow down a bit and think of your later years because there soon come round
Might steal a pinch of this advice Gary but most brickies don't usually see the later years that's why we're all 🤪 we know. A bad day can change your life forever that's for sure.
As much as I try to explain without actually being on a footing, a lot of the younger trowels I work with in London who also watch your channel struggle with and are keen to learn about building off of the engineer's pins in the concrete. I know how it's done (outside edges of the pins should run brickwork) but like me a lot of lads need to be shown how it's done. Go on, put 'em out of their misery.
@@maxpower1797 You'd be surprised. Five years ago I fucked off house bashing and went to London. Back then I didn't know what an ancon was but now I can fit them. For a lot of trowels in central London all they do are big commercial jobs and would be completely lost on a house.
@@evocarti Ancon is the manufaturer for fixings, which type of fixing do you claim to have learnt to install. I bet none of these lads could set out a basic rough ring segmental arch with trammel heads on the floor. Stuff we did when we where 16/17 years old.
@@martin2466 it’s the same in Australia. The volume builds are pretty basic,no real decorative stuff. I did some arches over 10 years ago but they don’t really do them now. I wish I got to learn more traditional stuff, I’m learning more off your tube than my apprenticeship
Hey Charlie, I've been mixing my muck with a paddle mixer because I don't have a cement mixer.. do you think my mix wouldn't be as good because the way a mixer knocks it up compared to a paddle?
Great video as always mate get the practice in for specmix 500 🧱 get up team collison and what gloves you got on there they always look the prefect fit

Changy is nit even as fast a Charlie coming from a bricklayer myself seen both Charlie wins that one even though it’s not necessary to compare

Its Friday, you been on the line of charlie again?

I’ll show it next week for you 👍🏻
Not rocket science is it, pin is the external corner of the building. Hang your trowels up and head to tesco please.

I always wondered what them 3 way clamps were for proper set up that 👍
You don't do it like that mate
Is there a specific course or certificate needed to start bricklaying and finding work? Thank you

Hi, any advice for someone from London (east) who would like to get a trainee bricklayer job? Thanks.
Where do you get your trowels from charlie???
Hello Charlie bro any magnet left??
Why dont you guys use saw horses and a plank for the brick / block so you dont bend over all day for material?
He normally does to be fare. He hates working off the ground and makes a big point of efficiency usually.
Bought a laser 4 months ago the driver dropped a pallet on the clamp and broke it 2 hours after I got it lucky the receiver survived.
Heads would come off
first 1st
I've been drinking your concoction to help me sleep. It seems to work but does it give you wierd dreams?
Yea 😂😂😂
Footings are not like that in the north east. I repeat nothing like that. Trenches, ankle breakers, can hardy get your feet either side blocks
Need to avoid that crap mate.
@@maxpower1797 we do mate, it’s brutal. Quite happy on the scaffold
thats what its always been like for me. they never scrape the middles flat.
@@man1cs171 shite init, be happy to drop on a footing if they were all like that
@@Stephenlightley I know. Would only take 2 seconds for a machine to drop some soil back in after its finished.
What would you do with ur profiles if the engineer didnt have it set off
You you pull your lines off the setting out profiles and set the profile where the lines cross
Stop corrupting poor Tom
....overhand...ewwwww just as bad as a left hander

I would love my House being built overhand can you do it all the way up
Bricklaying for ten years before I built a house off scaffold that is the way it used to be done
Hey buddy 👊🏻
