My favorite is the signs. With a game that effortlessly bends the idea of a fighting character, there is an thin line between a bland, run of the mill character, and a character you feel is too outstanding. Then there’s Mojibake snorting that line and asking for more.
One of the fun parts is that, I believe, a lot of the signs are from different creators. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the signs are their own small "running joke" or "meme" specifically for workshop creators. An original character concept that inspired others to make ideas of the same theme but they all somehow deliver different ways of executing... an inanimate object mixed with pure eldritch horror.
He has plenty of content over it from a couple years back and has been a part of the community since very early on, would definitely recommend checking out some of his videos on it
so glad that rivals is getting some love, that game is absolutely sick and deserves the attention 100x more than ssbu. it handles very similar to melee, but it has some of its own unique mechanics, like hitfall: fastfalling during hitlag, you're airborne and your vertical velocity is 0 during the freeze frames, so it allows you to fastfall, absolutely amazing for diverse and creative combos, which leads to the game having this uniquely offensive and aggressive neutral game. it also has "gatling combos", which is their unique version of DACUS that only works if the dash attack lands, you can cancel all of your dash attack's ending lag by inputting a strong attack during hitlag it also doesn't have shields, but it has a buffed version of powershield/parry, where the parry-ist gets 0 lag, and the other player turns gray and goes in slow motion for about one second to land whatever counterhit or riposte you'd like to hit (for some reason in ssbu you can't really land much from a successful powershield, I'm glad RoA buffed it a lot) there's also not really grabs besides a few command grabs, so all RTC's are light attack strings, it's usually better risk/reward to go for spicy reads, it makes the game VERY fun to watch and even more fun to play once you get into the "rivals mindset"

There are already 2 and they are really great, it saddens me how many people care more about meme trash then the actual well made content fans made just for fans, there is currently no other fighting game remotely close to the level of satisfaction that 999 actually really interesting characters brings, ROA dwarfs smash yet all people often cover are the memey ones. Not to mention every character made has updated ongoing versions to further balance and change them including Villager Palutena Greninja Incineroar Bowser Mario Luigi ect.. with new moves added to the old ones, don't sleep on Roa Steam workshop .
That sentient suitcase has a pretty cool rougelike gimmick. Basically, hitting neutral special will fill an xp bar. Once it’s filled you can use down special to choose one out of three upgrades. There are also secret upgrades that you can get access to with certain requirements, such as performing a technique during a match or refusing to get a certain upgrade for a while.
One good thing about this is that with so many characters you can’t possibly memorize stuff like frame advantage or which characters counter who as that would take years of your life. All you need to do is pick a character and be the best at it

while i'm definitely excited to see what rivals 2 will bring, i just KNOW that customized mod support for characters like this will be difficult to impossible to implement, and that's a damn shame. rivals of aether is kinda magical like that.
