It also looks like they are setting John up to revive the Green Lantern corp, which is what Kyle Rayner did in the comics.

Neither statement contradicting the other considering there's multiple Lantern colors ontop of fact Hal can have the greatest will power yet still not be the strongest Lantern.
I think this makes sense why Hal Jordan wasn't recruited in Zack Snyder's Justice League because he became a supervillain himself and became the master of Sinestro.
They animated how Hal Jordan became obsessed in the comics after his hometown was destroyed in some conflict. His sorrow, pain, and anger let Parallax subdue the Green Lantern.
Not only did they change it, but the pretty much gave him Kyle Rayner’s. DC is basically saying they cannot make John Stewart an awesome character without taking something from other Lanterns.
The most disappointing part is they took Kyle Rayner’a origin and modified it to fit with John. Personally I wish they would be more creative with John. Cause at this point, DC is saying that John Stewart cannot be interesting on his own.
All the green lanterns get fucked continuously. Hal, John, Guy and Kyle never get their due. Hal is always killed off, John gets ignored since JLU, then is barely featured in the dc animated universe, to only get killed in lava, Guys only appearance is the green lantern animated series. Kyle is ignored by dc animators like always.
I feel sorry for the Green Lantern Members being killed especially The Females like Arisia Rrab, Laira, Sheriff Mardin, Princess Iolande and Soranik Natu

In a time when we're learning more about the pernicious and longstanding effect of racism - and when we're increasingly choosing to practice empathy - DC missed a golden opportunity to bravely mark American and world progress on the matter. They should've been faithful to the vision of Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams when they courageously introduced John in 1971's Green Lantern, Vol 2, No 87. Instead they copped out and grafted this brilliant, Black, Detroit-born-and-bred, battle-tested and likely warworn USMC Sergeant into Hal's origin story. 'Dat ain't cool. One of the enduring beauties and strengths of our nation AND the Green Lantern Corps is its diversity. I'll watch, because I love John and the Corps. But, please, beloved DC: Do better.

The Green Lantern story is very complex. That's why it's hard to make a good film. A Green Lantern Corps film would have to be built like Star Wars. Starting with an action packed fight against all the other lanterns and villains. Of course, Blue Lanterns would also have to be there. That would be very action-packed and then you could start revealing the whole story. If there are only isolated action scenes because the story is so complex, it bores the audience and you won't find a continuous storyline. Btw, I am a Lantern fan for more than 40 years now. John's awesome but there are others who deserve to be brought on a wider screen. What I never liked are clumsy characters in the Corps. It doesn't fit an elite force. Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer) solved that perfectly with Zenitsu Agatsuma.

I just watched the film today and I can tell you that they really capture our Oliver Queen being a douche
Stewart origin in the animated film was actually a bite off from Kyle Rayner back story.
I despise the Parallax story and have no interest in seeing Hal go bad and be killed.
