That's a Norwegian fjord and she sings in old Norse (the Vikings language). Fun fact: she's from the Faroe Islands and the North germanic language they speak today has changed very little from the old Norse times (due to the isolation those islands have endured throughout the centuries). It's very likely that if a viking were alive today he could probably be intelligible to the Faroese people up to a quite fair extent.

@@soleywolfgangsdottir Faroese is a form of Old Norse. To quote Cambridge University Language Centre - "Faroese is a daughter language of Old Norse, which is best known as the language of the mediaeval sagas". Not disputing what you say, Wolfgang's daughter, just putting it in context.

@@stephenbarlow2493 Well all Nordic languages except for Finnish and Sami maybe are daughter languages of old Norse. Funny thing is that Faroese actually used to sound alot closer to Norwegian and Danish than it does today. I'm not sure how it's happened but it seems there been a big Icelandic influence on the Faroese language to the point that my own family who left the islands decades ago, are no longer able to speak Faroese with the Faroes on the islands as the language has changed so much that my family honestly don't understand most of it anymore.

Faroese is probably more Danish-infected than Icelandic today, but still the closest to Icelandic and Old Norse you can get. A good example is a video where an Old Norse specialist (Jackson Crawford) put a Norwegian, a Dane and an Icelander to the test, understanding Old Norse. The link: th-cam.com/video/5MRfVHU9fr0/w-d-xo.html
I am sure that if a Faeroese had been "on the panel" he/she would have aced it like the Icelander did - after all, the Faroese are the only nation that can flawlessly adopt Icelandic when it suits them. The reverse is NOT true! We Icelanders have a devil of a time handling the sounds peculiar to the modern Faroese version of this old language.

This was from Stigen farm, but it's not her home. It's in a fjord in western Norway, where possibly Eivør's ancestors came from. The place is now a "living museum" and small groups can rent rooms or you can go there for day-visits or guided tours in the mountains and rent it for events like this. The website is "stigengard" with the norwegian TLD at the end (no). Eivør, now lives in Syðrugøta on the Faroese Islands, quite a special place, too: th-cam.com/video/EZEc-yAK4xA/w-d-xo.html

This geographical background is Norwegian - the rest is pure Faeroese Eivör. Believe me, there is nothing to compare. We Icelanders can selfishly claim a tiny little ownership of Eivör (she had vocal training in Iceland) and, as any faeroese, can speak flawless Icelandic. Frankly, the Faeroese are the only non-Icelandic nation to effortlessly get the Icelandic language (well, Old Norse, really...)
The drummer is a member of a different band playing at this unique venue, my bet is that this was the first (and last) time he played with Eivör, hence the exaggerated signals she gave him.

This is the first song/video of hers I encountered, and I was appropriately mesmerized by it. Seen a lot since...but was not ready for her latest song/video. Stunning as it is unexpected. th-cam.com/video/Afy_yTHpBt8/w-d-xo.html

The Lofoeten islands are one of the four most beautiful places I've managed to visit on the planet.

😂.. you have no idea who and what you are watching 😂…?
Well, maybe you have watched a modern Volve 😉 ?
No Eivor is not from Sogn/ west coast of Norway, she is from Færøyene and she sings in her own language.. but her formothers and fathers are probably from Vestlandet in Norway. Maybe start by reading a bit geography and history?

Yes, there's something in the water in Norway… Stunning, vistas, musicians, quality life, environmentally minded people, artists and all.
Angelina Jordan, Aurora, Eivor. Just to name a few. 🫶👣🌞
