That is the *exact* section of road that I learned to ride a bike on, waaay back in 1998. At the time I was the proud owner of a brand new Suzuki Intruder 800 while stationed in Monterey as a brand new slick sleeve Marine. I've been retired from the military for almost a decade now, and haven't been back to that area in 25 years now. Still beautiful. Really great area for motorcycling.
This is what the Fast Johnny should have been. Bigger engine and better suspension. This one stands up to it's name. But this would overshadow the CVO.

You don’t need all that to enjoy a nice ride. I had a 96ci Toad King with a gear cam kit for 11 years and I loved it. I now have a 107ci street glide and it has all the power I need. Spending extra money for just a few more horses mean nothing. For me it was about having HD on the gas tank. Motor work for me is religious oil changes.

You know what I like about that bike…. The power, warranty and factory tuning. I didn’t hear a single decel-pop which is a huge step above my indy-built 124”!

In your opinion, what would you recommend to a customer....., to install a factory built screamin" eagle 135 or a blueprinted 135 with a balanced Dark Horse crank, timpkin bearing upgrade, carillo rods, forged pistons, S&S cam chest and cam, with new cylinders and cnc heads? I'm also thinking in terms of reliability and longevity.. Researching different builders I have heard the exhaust valve seats leak in factory M-8 Heads, the lifter rod cover base blocks made with plastic inserts etc. etc. I suppose the obvious answer would be how much do you want to spend.. but aside from the idea of cost what would you want in your bike?

Unfortunately, the slide won't be cleaned up for a while. Caltrans (state road maintenance) says that even after almost 6 months, the whole area is still moving down the mountainside. But, this is not unusual to us locals. Every winter the highway will get closed by mudslides, or rockslides, or the entire side of a mountain falls to the ocean. Just a few years ago, a slide was big enough to change the geographical, and oceanographic navigation, maps of the coastline. Most unfortunately for your time in California, this current slide cuts off the best part of HWY 1, where most of the best twisties, hairpins, and views from heaven are. Tail Of The Dragon ain't got shit on HWY 1! Oh. You should have stopped to get tacos at the truck. Yeah, that good.
I dig it.. just don't get the need for it on a cruising bike.. Now my Dyna or my Sporty yes .. All day make them into street rippers.. But a cruiser, i don't get it..
@shawn_1000 so true! And the sad thing, this one has all the extra California smog crap on it on top of what it would usually come with. I couldn’t imagine pipe, tune and throw in a good cam!

FYI I caught an old video you had on Sergeants solo saddle and wanted to give you some info. I've run several of there seats and they take a while to break in for sure. I also felt that I was setting too far forward on my Low Rider until I got about 800 miles on. Now I'm setting nice and deep in the saddle just like my Shovel Low rider. For comparison sake I'm a guerrilla in human clothing and can not even imagine being so low in the saddle to actually have the need to look through any bagger windshield........... 🤪

Nice bike. But the CVO is still my pick of the litter. I would like to see this engine an option for all the line up. Not that it matters but Harley is pricing alot of us out.

I did a stage 4 on my 96ci 08 roadking and it puts out 125hp and 135 tq and sounds way better than these new Harleys,I'm not impressed at all but beautiful bike
It doesn't come stock in any bike. You have to put it in. Should fit a m8 softails (street bob lowriders etc) But you can build one of them out to 150ci +, anyway
Hopefully aftermarket will come out with integrated led light fairings similar to new cvo fairings. Super Duke offered a radial new headlight. Glad Harley has developed special lighting of their own easily recognized from afar like Porsche special headlights. I would buy a new CVO just for the cool Fairing as so unique and separates you from the sea of other bikes. Remember when Audi first arrived with their LED DRL’s 15 years ago. The rest are still trying to capture. MB lights up Their STAR on the front grill.
White letter tires would have set that Fast Johnnie off from an appearance perspective🤩
Agreed, but at least it is really easy to make that a reality. They sell tire paint pens, so just a little time, and you'd have it.

How will a stock primary hold up to a 135 upgrade? Assuming it will not be drag-raced and mostly normal riding.
I wonder if part of the sportier feel is that the handlebars are not as tall and pulled back as the Roadglide.
