@@finnheimberg7350 In desktop yes Intel is still faster on the gaming side. In laptop gaming though the Ryzen 4800h is faster than the 10750h in gaming scenarios. This is also a pretty apples to apples comparison though even if the 10750h generally warrants a $100 price hike on the laptops that feature both of them.
@@finnheimberg7350 In laptops, due to lower TDP, 14nm Intel chips perform drastically worse than the desktop parts. On the other hand, the efficient 7nm AMD Ryzen chips in laptops, perform very close to their desktop counterparts. This is why Intel is making 10nm chip for laptop but not desktop yet. But unexpectedly the yield is so bad that they can't go beyond 4 cores in their 10nm chips. Intel chips perform worser in almost all aspects in gaming laptops now, but they still sell it by unethical marketing.

Was on the fence about whether to buy a gaming PC or laptop and this video sold me on the laptop. I bought the 2060 the next day and 2 months later, I still absolutely love it. Plays AAA games flawlessly, doesn’t get too hot, Turbo is quiet and the display is brilliant.
Definitely recommend.

Especially when you can find a Helios 500, which has a desktop R7 2700 and Vega 56 in it, for cheaper. I used mine as an actual desktop for a few years and now it's been bumped to portable desktop duty on the go.
Got mine for 999$ last October works just like day 1 all I need to do is clean the dust and bam 80* on load

The space used to be for a hard drive. I own the previous version which looks almost identical and is fitted with 2 nvme drives plus a hard drive. Gotta love how easy it is to work on, no special screws, no need to disassemble to clean fans or upgrade anything.

have the helios 300 and its a solid machine. the stuff they are putting on the triton is something i wish they had available went i was shopping like having an option to upgrade that empty drive bay for a larger battery. would have been the perfect machine last year but hopefully they listened and are making it available this time around. i agree the fans are loud but the temps stay cool and dont thermal throttle. one heck of a work horse for daily computing and plays games well. just a strong laptop with the hardware you want and not as many frills/extra gimmicks to raise the price tag.

I have a 2020 model as my daily driver the thing is still holding up quite well!
I owned Predator Helios 300 GTX1660Ti. One thing for sure is the fan will be really loud if you are playing games with stock thermals. Gpu/cpu temps around 85-90c with turbo mode on (OC and max fan) when gaming. After i delid both and undervolt the cpu, gpu temp barely reaches 60c and cpu temp ~70c with OC gpu and custom fan speed (almost silent).
Yes, they are good, I've owned 2 predators thus far and I highly recommend them to anyone that needs real desktop power in a somewhat reasonably priced laptop! Half the time you couldn't even build a desktop spec'd like this for the same or less money!
I have the 2019 version. 9750 & 1660...it's just brilliant. Best laptop I've ever owned.
How are your thermals? Does the turbo mode in the fans really help?
@@seb.evidente7328 I just got mine yesterday but the 2019 version too and so far I only tested Valorant. It runs hot around the turbo button for 55-75c but I'm not sure if that is accurate. The good thing is that it has a CoolBoost feature that I think helps the laptop to cooldown the temps fast while idle and after you game. You can control the fans and customized also each fan.

The Predator boxes are cool, I've kept mine to use as a base for the laptop when I use it on the bed or on the floor

Yep same here. I game but I like to have all around performance. Sure Intel is slightly better in games but they also have a higher tdp. I'd trade a few fps for better battery and better all around performance anyday.
Edit:not to mention amd is cheaper at the same performance tier.
Seem like Acer also redesign their cooling fan from both sticking together on one side to each separated corner now from the 2019 triton 300. This way it will reduce the heat further with dedicated fin and exhaust just like they did with their 2020 Nitro line. Good job!
I have a similar model Acer, it came with a sata ribbon cable that sat in that hole next to the battery.
We've finally progressed to a time where turbo buttons actually make computers faster, and not slower! Yay!

The space on the bottom corner is for a 2.5” drive. Acer laptops come with a small sata cable and there is a proprietary connector above the battery.
I have being using a laptop fro Acer for 8 years now, just bought the bottom cover recently, but the rest of the laptop looks good enough, so, even when it isn't made of the best materials, are good ones

I really like Acer for providing support for 3 drives. More drives are much appreciated. Usually laptops don't provide more then two. It's cool. You can install games and windows on different drives and use one as a cache drive for video editing apps or spread the data between them and prevent choking.
In Malaysia we have the Predator Triton 300 that was released last month with an i5 9300H and the RTX 2060. I guess different variants are released for different regions/countries.

I did the long screw trick one time xD on a microsoft gaming keyboard, still working after 14 years, holes still on place to remember.
I like how Acer placed the charging port on the back side of the laptop unlike the Helios 300 2019.
The cable blocks the hot air coming out of the left side and it grinds my gear.
Honestly I’m not much into laptops but this looks like something decent. AMD might’ve been a better choice, but this might be fine as well...

My Nitro 5 has a very similar configuration and that is indeed a 2.5" hard drive bay. There should be a SATA connector in the box that you have to hook up manually.

The Helios 300, which is very similar to this one (phisically speaking), and it has a HDD at that empty spot you guys showed right to the battery.
Bought the 1660ti model few days ago and forgot about this video, found it back just now. This model hsd an I5, 1660ti and 16gb of ram with a 120hz display. I really dont have a single complaint so far about it to be honest. I just love it

Graphics card punches above it's weight, with far better thermals then my old 1070 laptop (runs about 65 to 70 celsius AFTER benchmark tests....idles 40 to 50) Built in one button overclock which does noticeably increase performance. 2 M.2 slots and 2.5 drive space. It's a quality laptop. I would purchase again

I have come to embrace mini display port since it was the standard on apple laptops for a long time, so almost everyone in our office has a mac with mini dp, and my Windows machine does too making it easy to plug in to any projector in the building with the same adapter.
Mini DP is an absolute must for VR (e.g. Oculus Rift). For me, it is the reason I bought Acer. The ultimate portable VR experience, so good for parties.
Dave 2d and short-circuit launch a Acer laptop video at the same time. Coincidence I think not
Dave 2D's Acer Concept D 7 ezel Pro is slightly more interesting than this Helios though, in my eyes.

Mini display is important if you own a Rift S, I do and I used my current laptop with it. Provides me with a very portable VR gaming setup.

That standard power connector is also huge if you travel to Europe, Japan or Australia. Allows you to spend $3 on a cord rather than having to lug a giant adapter brick.

@@huzcer It's only a cliche because it's true. Also, thinking that a gaming laptop is used only for gaming is such a narrow-minded perspective. Video editing or live-streaming are two examples where you'd want more cores (which Ryzen often gives us unlike Intel), and sure, it may not make much difference to gaming FPS but it will definitely make the price tag higher without increasing the performance. More for less is always a good selling point.

You can add a HDD there. I recently purchased Acer Nitro 7 only SSD model. They gave a HDD connector ribbon in the box which I used to install HDD.
