Some shelters actually have a vending machine wich sell the "JakLingko" card, the card can be used in most transport in Jakarta but this vending machine mostly available at big shelter. and the Bank card (the one purchased in video) is the most easiest way, because it can be used to pay transport, buy stuff from Indomaret and many else.

Thanks for watching Chaw! While we were on the bus, it wasn't a time for particularly heavy traffic (it was around 1pm), but we can imagine if it were rush hour, the bus would be much faster than the road, because of the dedicated lane. So, good job Jakarta! The busway was affordable, clean and timely :).
And yes, after a few weeks in Jakarta, I am learning to stop mentioning the traffic... it's the 'beauty of the beast', and so better to use the busway and plan ahead. :)

10:48 so what's happened here was there were bunch of gojek riders who helped block the traffic to allow their gojek rider friend in the ambulance to pass that apparently rushed to the hospital because of an accident.
Those random cars who are not with the gojek's escorts convoy, get stuck. They should've wait because the light was already red. That's typical impatient Indonesian people.
Motorbike Gojek riders are known for their solidarity. Some people see it that way, and some people see them as arrogant. Opinions are split 😄

Surprisingly, no beer cans or coffee cups were left inside the bus like in Europe. Is the bus with AC too? Here, many buses without AC felt like baked in the oven at 40'C in the summer. Actually, It's quite a good system with tap-in tap-out in the bus stop, so only passengers with a ticket can ride, no headache with a ticket controller fighting with people without a ticket.

Depends on the hours you go, sometimes busway faster (when its traffict hours in the streets like in the morning or evening) but other time, its faster to go by gojek motorcycle. If you go with your friend, order as much gojek for everyone. In the traffict hours you will feel so blessed to go with gojek.

as a full time jakartan who work quite far from where I live, transjakarta has been my primary public transportation. I have motorcycle, but screw that. I ain't going to sit on traffic for 2 hours with no AC with blistering hot jakarta weather.
if you want to see the effectiveness of transjakarta, you can take route 6 or 6A in the morning, the route going through dedicated lane all the way from ragunan to kuningan. jalan mampang prapatan raya is notorious for the traffic jam, but with transjakarta dedicated lane you will breeze through it

the thing in the intersection ( the traffic light ) happened because an ambulance passed by the red light ( which they're allowed if i'm not mistaken ) usually people followed an ambulance from behind so they can avoid the wait in the traffic light, thats why once the ambulance passed, you saw some drivers still followed in and caused bit of chaos lol that happens alot specially during covid, im surprised ivana didn't explain much to you or is it because she has minimal knowledge about her own country? just out of curiousity. cause i've seen some of your videoes and i saw a lot of time she had no clues of the answers to your questions. no pun intended.

Yeah I think it's kind of business deal with the mini market. It's one of the way for government to provide cheaper public transportation. By inserting all kind of business deal like advertisement, selling ticket to their business partner and so on. It also prevent people there to swindle by selling it at much higher price. People that are in hurry will definitely buy them but it's definitely not ethical.

    • @JetLagWarriors
      @JetLagWarriors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Ah, we used to have a big camera where we could adjust the settings easily - it was stolen in Peru. Now we just vlog on a GoPro - still have some customizable settings... although it's much harder on a tiny touchscreen... so in the end we usually just leave it, if it is just a short scene, like the one in this video, Anyway, thanks for your idea... we appreciate it. If we film a whole video indoors (like the McDonald's one), then we switch the settings up.

They have what is said to be the world longest BRT lines (250+ km). It was because they don't have adequate rail based transportation system. They have MRT but only 15.7 km long with 13 stations and LRT of 5.8 km with 6 stations, apart from commuter trains which are not adequate for a city of this size. In other cities BRT is just a supplementary system and feeder transport to rail based transportation system. But they are in the process of developing and constructing new MRT and LRT lines which will take a long time to finish. Hopefully when all the planned rail based integrated transportation system are done as the main transportation system, bus services will be just as feeders.

in a huge city where the traffic moves like a snail a BRT system is a cheap and awesome idea! its basically a micro train system if it has its own route free of competition from other types of vehicles! What the world could do is make these buses PHEV with not so large batteries? The dedicated routes could have a way to charge as the bus goes and on these routes the ICE could be switched off!

Yes, we're developing country and it's all in progress.
About Kebayoran Lama market, well, it's a traditional market, it looks so crowded & less managed, but it is what it is (tradisional market), there's so many people involved & contributed in economic activities, and so be it.

10:52 cant they just let the 3 cars pass, instead of trapping them like that? then traffic would be smoother for both parties.. you good, i also good.. 😅

Pesquise no Wikipedia?
