- We are shocked by modern jakarta indonesia! Today, we explored the jakarta central business district SCBD and dove right into the modern indonesia! We discovered the fancy indonesian malls and the biggest malls in indonesia at the same time! We also at the famous indonesian fast food chain richeese factory and did our first time eating richeese factory taste test! as well as taco bell indonesia taste test!

Actually Grand Indonesia is not the biggest mall even in Jakarta itself, the biggest mall in Jakarta is Mall Kelapa Gading in north Jakarta and the biggest mall in entire Indonesia until right now is Pakuwon Mall in Surabaya, East Java

There are central park mall & taman angrek mall In west Jakarta; kelapa gading mall, ancol beach, PIK (out door interest places) in north jakarta, pacific place, senayan city mall, senayan park mall, SCBD in south jakarta you have to visit. You can try the public integrated transportation as busway, MRT, LRT or train to go to the other interest places in jakarta.

welcome to Indonesia. plaza Indonesia is like a second home to me, as i grew up in the area, and watch them being build, when riding my bicycle when i was little. and now...i visit Plaza Indonesia or grand Indonesia at least twice a week. Enjoy 😁
I think it looks like you have left Jakarta already, but if you are still in Jakarta, I suggest you visit "Taman Mini Indonesia Indah" (TMII or Taman Mini). One day tour arround TMII you will feel like you have explored Nusantara (The Indonesian Archipelago).
To get there I suggest you use the LRT JABODEBEK Cibubur Line, from Dukuh Atas Station, get off at Tamini Station, from there you can take the free shuttle bus which will take you to TMII.

When I still lived there in 1997 ( Im jakartanese now living in germany) Jakarta was already a megapolitan Posh City, but not a lot of blogger that time Visited. Jakarta has always the biggest mall and water Park for kids. Food Center and so much more

go to Semarang and Solo/Jogjakarta by train (Executive or panoramic), and then head to Surabaya, then you'll know what living to most ethnic Javanese really looks like. If you want to know what it feels like living outside of Java, take a flight to Balikpapan and head down to Samarinda or hop on a flight to Manado and Maluku Utara/Ambon for eastern archipelago Indonesia experience.

Guys there is are a bunch of malls in Manila that are like that Thamrin Mall (the Bazaar) if you like that sort of mall. Check out 168 and 999 Malls in Chinatown/Binondo.

The sidewalks at 35:10 are going to be revitalized in a few months. Jakarta's sidewalks are being rebuilt right now so walking is going to be better anywhere in Jakarta in a couple years. I don't get why it wasn't prioritized before but finally!

You're perfectly correct when you say that fast food is seen as "exclusive" places in Indonesia. They're a mix of convenience, "western", and luxury food, so fast food joints here always try to be fancy and tasty in addition to being convenient and fast. If you want to see the equivalent of cheap, quick fast food joints like in the US, you actually have seen one in Yogyakarta, that imitation "Popeye" franchise.

U can find normally in upper floor....
There are different types of malls in Jakarta, for different types of market. You can’t really compare Thamrin City with Grand Indonesia or Plaza Indonesia. Thamrin City wasn’t that old of a mall, it used to be jam packed, but then the pandemic hit her hard. A lot of the stores you saw in there also sold their products on line in marketplaces to survive.

Looks like you should try traveling around Indonesia outside of Jakarta, like my hometown of Tasikmalaya, which is still rarely visited by foreign tourists, hehehehehe.
You should go to Surabaya to see another face of modern city of Indonesia and it keeps many historic building and spot too
bro, try visiting Labuan Bajo, after that visit Toraja, located in South Sulawesi in Indonesia, and after that, go to Mount Jaya, Wijaya, Papua.
Labuan Bajo you can see a beautiful view of the lake
Toraja, we Indonesians call it the land of the clouds, has statues of Jesus and glass bridges and beautiful mountains and unique cemeteries.
Papua is very beautiful, lots of forests and you can go on adventures and lots of mountains, including Mount Jayawijaya

Actually you missed 2 malls near the stadium. 1st is astha mall, the new high end mall. Only walk 5 min from pasific place mall. Just posted cross the street from the garden you "fell off". After that you can cross the street agai to visit FX Senayan. After enjoyed, you can walk only 5 min to the side and meet the plaza senayan mall and senayan city mall. Every malls.
