I agree. Sounds like a new part required and they need to wait on delivery. But as you say great they are being so thorough but massive disappointment for the park and guests 😔
@tayo0404 I’m super excited to get on it hopefully next month. It’s the people who paid to travel that I feel sorry for. The park can give fast track or free entry but they can’t cover travel/accommodation. 😔
The ride will have countless sensors. They won't have them in a 'parts bin' so a several days turnaround makes sense. If there was a track issue, it would take several weeks at least to manufacture, transport and install/test.
Yeah I know there’s been talk about track and structure but I can’t see that being the reason. Given they predict the 29th I’m with you that it’s gonna be a part they’re waiting on.
Sounds like they have just got unlikely with a part breaking/ wearing out too soon. Will be interesting to see, is whether this is something that happens regularly due to a design fault of the ride or if its just a one off.
Yeah the fact they indicate it’s out until the 29th to me sounds like they are waiting a delivery. As you say whether it’s a one off or a flaw remains to be seen but I have faith in Mack so I’m sure it’s just a faulty component. 🤞
I was planning to go thursday but probably gonna go friday or saturday now to hopefully let the queue times settle a bit since i havent been before and want to do all the coasters!
@reecehayes1259 depends when it reopens. If it’s this Thursday then maybe. But if it takes longer then there’s a chance it’ll still be really busy. They do have a single shot fast track for about £20 if you prefer to avoid the queues.
It is disappointing to see Hyperia closed but it's good that safety is being prioritised. I've booked flights and park tickets for a one day trip in early September, as we came in April initially which was of course, too early. Hopefully as it's a random weekday the coaster will run, it would be a big disappointment if it wasn't as Hyperia is the only reason to go back. So I can totally understand everyone's disappointment this weekend.
Completely agree, whilst disappointing I have to praise the park for taking a very difficult decision. Safety is alway a priority and I'm sure they'll have it back ASAP!
I was there yesterday the day they announced the closure and throughout the day I noticed people doing lift checks so I think it’s something to do with the lift hill
I had my trip planned for June 5th from the get go so I'm crossing my fingers it will be open by then. As much as the fomo is strong for opening weekends, it really dpes pay to wait a bit more until major teething issues are sorted out and when queues are more reasonable
We’re going on 1st June. Not 100% confident it’ll be open but I hope it will!! Was hoping the wait times would be a bit lower a week after opening. But it’s gonna be a manic day if it opens 1st June !!!
This might be really random but when I went on it just after waiting 7 1/2 hours, it just turned 4 o’clock, and I remember hearing something from the lift Hill but the train was not even on it yet, so maybe it was that loud banging sound?
This is why i don't go to coaster openings. Luckily i wasn't planning on going until the end of June anyway. I don't know why people insist on being the first but i still feel bad for them
Yeah it’s a tricky one. As I’ve said I’d love to experience the atmosphere of opening day and see all the enthusiasts. But at the same time it’ll be the same ride weeks or months later so I’ll just wait a little while
I do feel for the park but pleased they did what they need for safety. But why didn't they think of anything that can go wrong and make sure they have the stiff to fix it. So I think it's serious as they said before 29th but will update about after the 29th. I have been deliberating coming next week for the second time ever or to my beloved Blackpool I've been visiting 100s of times since I was under 1. I've heard about the big one van from people not on social media. But yeah blackpool will celebrate the big one being 30 with a record of being the uks tallest running coaster. I think the opening was done fantastic. They really did learn from voltron and think. Let's not do that. But let's see the future of Hyperia. X
I don't think I'll plan anything now until end of the season depending on how temperamental it is tbh. I do feel for all involved in getting this day ready for them. They really did smash it. Sadly today will always outshine with the negatives and yesterday will be forgotten... I just hope all parks! Even alton with the reborn opening the need for crowd safety and organisation. Out of everything hyperia... Thorpe has proven it can be done. X
I doubt it is. This isn’t Mack’s first rodeo. I think it’s just an unfortunate situation probably from one faulty component 🤷♂️ but I doubt we’ll ever know the deets
I do feel like they opened Hyperia to soon. I'm not concerned about the safety. I'm concerned if it can break down after one day will this ride keep on having issues. I feel like they should have waited a little longer before opening this ride.
It’s not uncommon for issues to happen when a new ride opens but it is a huge disappointment. Let’s hope they fix it soon and it remains reliable like you said 😀
The thing is. No testing can test for 12 constant hours of operation. But the park can learn and other parks can learn and maybe do a 12 hour constant test run. Thorpe will lose alot today and not only finance... but the whole coaster technological world can learn from the likes of hyperia and TT2 to make sure coasters are truly ready. If it was structural which it's possible when you look... the world of coasters can learn from this too and evolve from this.
They were testing it for like a month before it opened and I don't recall such rigorous testing before they opened their other rides to the public so I don't think it was too soon at all and it made sense to open it on the significant date of the parks 45th anniversary.
I think Mack rides owes the park an explanation. is it not fit for purpose? the park has now lost a big chunk of bank holiiday weekend money due to this early failure. I also think if there are special extended hours for 2 days to celebrate a new ride, including an Alice video all the stops should have pulled to make sure it’s operating and work including checks at unsociable hours and posting online at silly AM If not running to avoid thousands flocking down on Saturday to hear the news.
It’s very disappointing and I guess we’ll never know what the issue is. Unfortunately no matter how much planning and testing you do issues can arise. I assume it’s been a faulty component somewhere and they now have to wait for a replacement. As you said this weekend would have had A LOT of people coming just for this so many very upset/annoyed people 😔
Thorpe Park wouldn't be advertising re opening on Wednesday if that was the issue, the update would have said "indefinite" as that would be a major track part that needs to be replaced. My guess is a faulty component on the lift hill that needs to be replaced
2:57 wait a minute.... THAT'S ME
Must be a serious case but props to Thorpe for working on it immediately and noticing the issue
I agree. Sounds like a new part required and they need to wait on delivery. But as you say great they are being so thorough but massive disappointment for the park and guests 😔
@@coaster_dad It's sad for those who wanted to ride it for the first time today as I went yesterday and got 3 rides, it was amazing

Saw someone said it's probably because of the over running of the run
Lots of theories floating around but I guess we’ll never know for sure. 🤷♂️
I managed to ride opening day… it was insane and instantly became my number one. I’m looking forward to riding again in June 🤘🏽
Amazing. I’m hoping to get down in June too. I hope they get it back up and running quickly 🤞
I was planning to go thursday but probably gonna go friday or saturday now to hopefully let the queue times settle a bit since i havent been before and want to do all the coasters!
Ah fingers crossed the outage doesn’t last any longer. I’m sure you’ll have a great trip. Lots of good coasters at Thorpe! 😀
@@coaster_dad hopefully hyperia will be back to it's full self once it re opens! I was planning to vlog my trip so fingers crossed hyperia is open!!
Do you think the ques will have died down a bit by 6th June?
@reecehayes1259 depends when it reopens. If it’s this Thursday then maybe. But if it takes longer then there’s a chance it’ll still be really busy. They do have a single shot fast track for about £20 if you prefer to avoid the queues.
@@coaster_dad thankyou. I don't mind ques. 3 hours I think I could handle.

Sadly. But hopefully only for a few days 🤞🤞

Managed to get on it a second time around nine and we could hear a strange sound coming from the track.
Yikes 🙈 fingers crossed they get it fixed quickly
At least you guys have a potential reopen date. We got 😂😂 indefinite. Maybe it will open again this season. Don't hold your breath, Ohio.
Ha ha. Yeah I’m hoping the fact we have a date implies a part being delivered. Fingers crossed for both rides 😉🤞
barings or chain on the lift hill ???
Anything is possible. I’ve heard people say lift hill, air gates, exit gate, structure… chances are we’ll never find out. 🤷♂️
