I just got one last week. I bought the 42.5 mm though. No complaints so far. It’s a really nice watch. I got white on white. I’m hoping I still love it as much years from now. I do wish it had the micro adjustment on the clasp. That would be really nice. As it sits its still a very nice watch. Perfect crown action. Smooth as can be.
I have had mine 5 years. It had to go back because I wear it every other week and winding the date forward broke an internal part. Gutted because I thought it was bullet proof. I took nearly 9 months to get back to me because it was send back with a misaligned Crystal and the bezel wouldn’t turn and we went into lock down. So a bought a 1861 speed master and absolutely love them both. 2 great watch collection
The trick to getting a good fit with the older Planet Oceans is to order an additional half link. The half link is actually around a 2/3rd link in size so by removing a full link and adding an additional half link I was able to get a perfect fit.
Have 1 had to get a new micro adjustable clasp total headache , then the new clasp is 20 mm my strap is 19 mm so have to get it without diver extension r it wil pop out pissed off with omega mine is the 42 mm
Nice review! I’ve the exact same watch too and it has been 10 years now that i own it. Just to correct an information: the 8500 movement is completely in house made in Omega, not made by ETTA at all, but obviously sharing technology with other Swatch Group brands, but it is made in house in Omega.
I bought this watch nearly 2 years ago and absolutely love it, the dial lights up when it catches the sunlight and looks gorgeous. I’ve worn it in the sea paddle boarding, sea swimming and in the pool, the thing I really like is it’s more of an everyday watch, not like a highly polished Rolex that I’d be too worried to wear in case it gets scratched or I get mugged. I’m not a guy who works in an office environment so I can’t wear it everyday at work but it’s a watch to wear around the house after work and all weekend. With the 60hour power reserve it you forget to pop it on the wrist it’s still good to go the next day or day after. I do think 🤔 mmmm I would like a Rolex but their too small and prissy and I can’t see any other watch coming close to my planet ocean XL.
That's my grail, for sure. Amazing how watches have improved, even considering the Ward/Zelos models you just presented. I have that Crafter Blue (went with the stainless bezel, blue dial), and I love it! Congrats on the slim down as well! I shed about half that a year ago, and, it was a pain to resize a hundred watches, lol.
Great video about a great watch. I've had my planet ocean 8500 45.5mm for 7 years and I love it, its a big watch but so comfy, sometimes I think it's time for a change but it never happens 🤔👍
last year in Japan (Mega Don Quixote) i saw a similar Planet Ocean but mid-size 38mm (hood for my 6.25in wrist) all in Platinum, probably a new old stock for only $3k.. original tag price was at $8.4k in 2012.. i will get back to it after this pandemic, and hopefully its still available.. 🤞🕺🎉
I've always thought the lume on the Planet Ocean would be really good. Was surprised when you said it has terrible lume. I think it looks pretty good. Must be the blue luminova they are using which isn't as bright as the usual green lume that they used on their older watches..
Your ceramic bezel isn’t actually scratched... take a pencil eraser and rub it for a bit. I’ve had similar marks on mine and found out later that they weren’t actually scratches
I'm a hopelessly devoted Omega fan, but in all honesty, I don't know why and how they can maintain the Planet Ocean along side the 300m Seamaster. There's just a lot of overlap there. My speedy moonphase has a very similar profile (but smaller) to this planet ocean model...the PO is about the same size as my 300M chrono, which is a chunky watch! I completely agree on the band comfort and also agree the clasp is way too small. I wore the hell out of my speedy and even though it doesn't get a ton of wrist time today, I've frequently considered selling it, but I'm glad I've kept it around for nearly 20 years. I plan to have it serviced soon and maybe it'll make the rotation since it's now back in vogue! Don't sell your PO..you will regret it. As far as Omega goes, I have two more models in my sights..the ceramic Gray Side of the Moon..just an amazing watch..and the "surf and turf" the Aqua Terra GMT World Timer.
Omega can maintain the PO because some customers are no big fans of the Seamster 300. Like myself. I don’t like the waves on the dial, I don’t like the hour and minute hands. I don’t like the look of the bracelet (New and older models) of the seamster 300. But I love the PO 43.5mm. And that’s why I love Omega. They offer more choices than other brands so everyone can find something they like.
Just got mine back from service. super happy with the watch. regarding the clasp I switched to the new one (the "micro on the fly adjust" one) it fits. Its a keeper for sure. awesome review man! keep it up! :)
how much was the service? Did they find any extra issues that needed repair? how long did it take? the turn around time really bothers me. Ive been told minimum 12 weeks, maybe up to 6 months - I really don’t buy a watch to be watchless for up to half a year..
@@jonw8uk1 the service was about 700$ I think (at Omega) and it took 7-8 weeks, 6 months just sounds crazy. cant imagine that a 8500 movement would take that long.. but it came out great and no problem came up so it was the standard service fee. But they warned me when I turned it in that the covid is putting delays on spareparts so they thought that it would take longer then it did. but if you cant or dont want to wait that long. try to find one that has been serviced.
Micro adjustments?! Give me a break! Have the newest clasp with it, never ever use it, except to play with it sometimes. As with the rolex sub comparison- PO is murdering the SUB in every aspect, except the thickness( and again, it’ s 600 vs 300m)
You'ii regret it big style if you do sell it plus for its dimensions i think it suits you quite nicely & the lume ain't that bad he is an old boy after all but i get it ..its a 6k swiss premium sports watch but i 'd forgive that short coming. About time i sub'd as well as i do like the interesting array watches you bring to or put on the table 👍
Still awesome in 2022 and will continue for years to come. :)
you can easily remove the scratches on the bezel by rubber for pencils.
Bought this because of skyfall, built and feels like a tank really solid I like it.
One of my grail's. I'd take that over any Rolex, any day of the week. Just my preference. Love the heft of it

I got the newer model with calibre 8900 43.5mm black dial, very solid watch and beautiful

What colour dial did u get ? Blue or black?
@@davidarchangels6500 hi david, I chose the black, didn’t want blue as I find black more versatile

This is my grail watch. It's more affordable compared to rolex or AP, just need to save up lol
I have a 2018 and the lume is awesome and stays visible all night
120 click bezel. nice video i enjoyed. i have the 8900 version 43.5 in blue and love

Beutifull watch Chris, interesting to see how the use of ceramic for bezels has evolved..
I agree with Mr.Becks, below. I am more than happy with the lume on my 10 year old Planet Ocean -which is the same model that is being reviewed here.

I think the luke is great too compared to my speedy
I have the 2020 version of the Aqua Terra with the green dial and it has the new 8900 movement.
I have a 2017 box and papers mint with adjustable clasp 42 mm in black UK
For me is the best diver in the world

Hmmm I can try that would be great if it worked
@@WatchChris good luck!
Did it worked?
@@WatchChris Bump - did this work? I've heard similar stories suggesting the "scuffs" are deposits from whatever hit the bezel.
There is also the 42mm. I have the titanium one.
Great review
You have some watch collection. At that size, i'd need to wear it on both wrists.....
Lol
My grail and I have it. I don’t lust after any other watch.

@@chamixone Just go to any Omega dealer and order through them. Cant remember what I paid. but its worth it, really usefull. hope this helped
The solid centre link looks great, why did Omega need to change it
Just bought a seamaster 300 broke right out of the box. First Omega first luxury watch. Maybe last
broke what - what is the rest of this story?
How the movements hold up ??
No micro adjustment clasp , on it have one f headache ,£230 pounds omega have it on the new model but not on aqua Terra r globe master yet

When you're talking about replica are you talking about fake ? Nice watch 👌 just to big for me seems like watch sizes are trending down .
Yea fakes I saw a video on a fake PO it was insane how close to mine it was.
This is the original box. Mine is identical.
Unboxing? Of a watch you’ve had for years? This isn’t an unboxing ffs!!!
Beautiful watch, much better than a submariner
May ask how you lost 60lbs
No micro adjustable clasp had to buy 1 as the new model has omega needs to shape up as is on Aqua Tera,
Do a 42 mm
I'm selling mine it's a 2017
Still good in 2020?
Why shouldn‘t it be?!
No 43 it's 42
Best replica is from VSF factory, they also replicated the movement. It cost 348$
Replicas are for losers.
