George Meyer, bless you for sharing this with us. Breech’s kitten-with-a-whip Karen (so very unlike Judith Light’s dynamic Karen), and the exquisite Ellen Holly as Carla, who is gloriously stunning in this episode. I'm just enjoying the Mrs. Marsh toothpaste commercial followed by "Today on the 4:30 Movie- Five Desperate Women". Five Desperate Women was a 1971 ABC Movie of the Week w/ Stephanie Powers, Joan Hackett, Denise Nichols and 2 others as a college reunion on an island . One by one they are murdered! Who done it? Was it the "creepy" Bradford Dillman Or the HANDSOME Robert Conrad (hubba hubba ) ? This was the GOLDEN AGE of Made for TV Movies ! And I guess George Meyer is from the Tri-State area ? Not sure where else the 4:30 movie played. It lasted till a few years before Oprah happened . Long time rumor was that "Oprah Killed the 4:30 Movie" but truth be told- ABC had some other lame offerings before Oprah (The John Davidson Show? The Toni Tennille Show? Fantasy ? I cannot recall.) P.S. Mrs. Marsh had a LONG career and is best known as Cliff Clavin's mother on "Cheers". 9:54 Just caught the Vivian Vance coffee commercial funny and off-putting that she was "Maxine" and not Viv Vance ! My Goodness! Viv's skimpy career by the later 1970s was clearly to "pay the bills". She did a guest roll on Rhoda (and it kinda felt like she was going to be Rhoda's new funny neighbor - but it never happened). Viv died Aug. 1979 . 2 of her last visitors to her home in Connecticut (when she was bed ridden) were Lucy and actress friend Mary Wickes. They both sobbed on the limousine ride home- they knew this was the last time that they would see her alive. She had no children and not too much money when she passed; but she lived in a beautiful home and had a fairly new husband that cared for her (John Dodds).
Possibly; this episode aired after she had already been dismissed by producers. I believe her last episode was filmed at the end of March, and usually there was a 2 week gap between taping and airing.
@Veronica A. I saw an interview with Judith Light once in which she related that as she set out for NYC to embark on her theatrical career, she boasted that she would "never do a soap opera and never do a sitcom", which is all kinds of ironic given that she's most famous for playing Karen on OLTL and for being on "Who's the Boss?"
I could be wrong, but I had read that Dorian was trying to steal Joe away from Viki (the Rileys are already estranged - as this episode depicts). My guess is that Dorian was really trying to find Kevin in the hopes that Joe would like her better if she recovered his son for him. Of course, if that is the case, it backfired spectacularly, since once Kevin was returned, Joe immediately regretted leaving Viki and returned to her.
@@LannieLordThey had a "complicated relationship". I don't it ever would have happened with NP in the role, though. The chemistry between Strasser and Slezak made it possible. But I have read this Dorian was WAAAAAAY too cold and calculating for such a relationship with anyone. They made her too one-dimensional by being a villain only. Strasser could go in different directions.
The opening with the sun took me back to childhood.
Where did all the time go? I can't believe that ABC cancelled All My Children and One Life to Live.

This may have been Nancy Pinkerton’s last appearance as Dorian.
Possibly; this episode aired after she had already been dismissed by producers. I believe her last episode was filmed at the end of March, and usually there was a 2 week gap between taping and airing.
@@ericnelson9100Dismissed? I thought NP left on her own accord?
@@Charlie-hl7jr No, she was let go.
I heard Kevin Buchanan (Riley) was kidnapped as a baby
I forgot Kevin wasn't a blood Buchanan
Neither is Joey. Both are actually Rileys.
Where is Judith Light
She Became Karen Wolek Number Three After Julia Duffy In November 1977.
Exactly and Marco Dane
@Veronica A. I saw an interview with Judith Light once in which she related that as she set out for NYC to embark on her theatrical career, she boasted that she would "never do a soap opera and never do a sitcom", which is all kinds of ironic given that she's most famous for playing Karen on OLTL and for being on "Who's the Boss?"
@@christopherslappey1681Any clips of Julia in the role? Why was she replaced?
Julia must have been VERY YOUNG and TINY !!! Judith seems tall and more mature . The viewers must have been "Wha..?" @@brookehanley3659
a Year later Brian Kendall ends up killed in a hit in run accident and Karen ends up being somewhat responsible for it.
But Karen wasn’t driving the car. Wasn’t it Talbot?
Ethel mertz on commercial
Yep
Dorain hated vicki why would she help her
I could be wrong, but I had read that Dorian was trying to steal Joe away from Viki (the Rileys are already estranged - as this episode depicts). My guess is that Dorian was really trying to find Kevin in the hopes that Joe would like her better if she recovered his son for him. Of course, if that is the case, it backfired spectacularly, since once Kevin was returned, Joe immediately regretted leaving Viki and returned to her.
Dorian liked Joe, and so she was sometimes forced to inadvertently "help" Viki to stay in his good graces.
Later into the 1980s - they TOTALLY lost it and made Dorian and Vicki friends again . Like WTF ? Really ? @@pensiveczar2239
