30mpg is not terrible mpg, especially for a big car with 328bhp. I'd say that's pretty darn good.

Okay Vicks how is a 4 door 3 series BMW more practical than a 5 door door hatchback. ..The extra door will make this far more practical....You just don't like anything but BMW..

I agree , and for a fact i know the 335i is not more economical.
I've just gone from a 330! to an S5 Sportback and the s5 has way more room, even headroom in the back, its a much bigger car
Wish there was an RS5 Sportback. Wish they came to the U.S.
I think this is the first Audi that actually trumps BMW's counterpart
I dont understand how an EVO can be compared against this car. In the U.S. that just doesnt make sense. S5 sport back should be compared to the Passat CC, Mercedes CLS, and the X6 (relatively speaking)

@drewfj are you in the States? The UK gallon is larger than the US one, so their MPG numbers are a little higher. The UK gallon is 4.5liters, while the US gallon is about 3.8 liters. A liter is a little more than one quart. So the difference between UK vs US is almost a quart of gas.

I love the gearbox, despite wanting a manual. Launch control and paddles for when you want a giggle, D and ACC on the dual carriageway. Steering is good too, light in traffic. PAS turns off at speed so you just feel the road. One downside is, for an understated S car, it does turn heads. Nice when it's female, unnerving when it's a dude looking at you (the car) going phoawwww. Gets 20 MPG if used but does 60 in 5 flat with Launch. The fuel tank is too small.

Maybe I'd get the 2.0T Quattro instead of the full-blown (literally) S5. I believe a manual is optional (for less money) and you save money for those expensive options.

Only if the designer added a sun roof that the only thing missing. ..so rare...I'm hurting for that missing part.

The problem is, BMW doesn't offer anything like the S5 Sportback. If you want something like the 335i, you have to consider the S4!

I Prefer the Audi. Beautifully crafted. Nice lines, nice drive, and they are built to last.
Any Sports based car that doesn't offer manual transmission. I don't think twice about turning my back on it. Completely castrates the essence and joy of driving pleasure.

3Series more practical ? I test drove both before buying the S5SB. The boot space is about the same if not more for the S5 i'd say but the flexibility of the S5 is better. And to be honest, the S5 drove better than the 335i...i don't know how she gets the idea the BMW is more dynamic.
I think thats more marketing than reality. Only real downside of the S5 is its fuel consumption together with the small fuel tank.
@IPGAuto That's funny, because according to JD Power, Audi A6 is the most reliable car in its class. Lexus GS is at the bottom. At least you can see how credible these surveys are.
to me, this is the perfect car... i love the s5 coupe, but its just too unpractical. plus this is one of the best looking cars on the road. saldy, its not available in the US, where I live.
It is criminal no to offer a manual transmission. It is my number one "decision making criteria" when shopping for a car.
Well, Victoria... I prefer the S5 Sportback. The 335i is too... common.

@iedei I'd like to see where you discovered that "Audi's are consistently faster than BMW's due to better traction and better ability to put power down". Quattro isn't as advanced as a I think you think it is.

I have an A4 Avant. It's ugly! Unlike my S5 Sportback when it finally gets here. And like the A4 Avant, the S5 Sportback has a massive boot! I agree with Vicki about the extras. Adaptive Cruise Control, Sat Nav, B&O and a few other trick bits raised the price to 50k (M3 money) but hey... like Vicki it's pretty and you can fit kids in!
@edmaluf Why is it criminal? Most people who can afford these cars can't be bothered with a manual gearbox and it's likely that even if you could afford one, YOU wouldn't buy one with a manual, anyway.

The BMW 5 GT is designed to be a GRAND TOURER, this is supposed to be a Coupe... there is somewhere in there a big diffrence that YOU MISSED... Do try to keep up at least with the name of the cars if not they'r actual purpuse.. Come on... i'm sure you can do it.. :)

The A5 Vesrion of Car drives well and is well refind, except for the 2.0T motor which is a total let down, It burns as much as oil as a twostroke race bike

Everyone fails to talk about the BMWs biggest draw back the shit diff, it's either a never selected extra or a M car for a slip diff so in the real world (cold and damp) it cant put its power down. I own a quick BM and it's fun but I really want traction so am looking at what Audi to get.

And exactly, Audi fails to surpass BMW. Bmw's are exclusively designed for sports based craftsmanship that is hard to surpass. Reason why they are defined as the Benchmark of sports cars.
