Then draw on top of every frame of the 3D animation by hand like usual 2D animation. I think that's the technique used for this scene, the computer-smooth camera interpolation gives that away.

I was that one guy in dodgeball who could dodge every single possible attack, no matter the orientation, speed or maneuver. However, I could never catch a single ball, so I was the life support of my team.
It was so bad at my elementary school our coach had a rule where if I was the last one standing for more than ten minutes it defaulted to a win for the other team. Was it a fair ruling? Probably not but dodgeball days were always fun for me because my side would always treat me like a king for the remainder of the day.
The dodgeball thing happens to me too; My class had a (modified) dodgeball for winning a competition. The game was like normal dodgeball but if you are out, you go the opponents ‘dead’ area, and in this area you can still get people on the opponent’s side out (so you have to dodge balls from both sides). I was one of the last standing. Three balls are thrown at me (or more idk) from both sides. Dodged the first, dodged the second, but I saw I third from the corner of my eye; I had seconds to react. I dodged it by mere millimeters; I felt INVINCIBLE. Then I felt it, a dodgeball to the face. But how, I asked myself; turns out that another was thrown straight at me and hit me in the face. The dodgeball to the face didn’t count, but the opponents knew to attack when I was confused. And that (to the 1 person who read this whole thing) Is how I lost that dodgeball game
Pretty sure this game is called trench :) when youre out you go to the opposing team’s “trench” and people from your team can run across to the trench and retrieve the teammates from the trench but if they get tagged, theyre out.
I've always thought the "catching" rule in dodgeball is really stupid. If you don't have ridiculous strength to throw fast, dangerous (injuring) throws, you have 2 options: A: throw at their ankles/lower legs with really bad odds of hitting, or B: throw at them normally and suffer a 50% chance that they catch and you're just out. It really makes the game suffer from excessive injury, gatekeeping, and a lack of cool dodges.
I have memories of high school dodgeball, being the last one on my team, standing perfectly still with my eyes squeezed shut waiting to be hit, and NOTHING touched me. this happened multiple times. Then there was the time that the star football player threw a rubber ball directly into my face at full force.
I remember in, like, middle school, being really good at *HALF* of dodgeball (the "Dodge" part). I was surprisingly nimble, and I almost never got hit... but i had absolutely *zero* arm strength and *zero* aim. Basically, whatever team i was on never lost... but if i was the last one left we couldn't win, either, and i'd end up stalling the game till the bell, lol.
