It was not the first time Simeone did it. So surely, Simeone knows what he does very well.
EZ SLIDE it does because taking a striker away when you NEED to score is a HUGE risk to take because you are at Anfield, leave a 20 year old doing most of the work to score that goal and by putting a CDM you essentially want to soak the pressure and hope for a counter. That’s why it was a huge risk

Let me tell you two facts:
- Games are played until the end. Take a look at 13-14's UCL final. It was an ATM's victory until Sergio Ramos' header just at the 93". After the draw (in a pretty close match until then) they ended up losing 4-1. Completely, utterly destroyed by that RM side
- Atletico Madrid had even a harder night at the Allianz during 15-16 UCL semis. They're used to this level of pressure. And no, even if tough, Anfield is not the toughest atmosphere in the history of football. Just be more humble

A knockout tournament isn't about "being the best team in the competition". Otherwise we'd have a double round robin just like in the league. Bex Clue The UCL is about being the best team in the competition, it’s about showing your dominance against the other best teams in Europe rather than showing dominance against much weaker teams such as Liverpool in the premier league, the only thing about the ucl is that you do need a bit of luck to win it

I think second favorites are City - not half as good as in the past two seasons but still good enough to win on a good day - as long as they don't make unforced errors in the back they're still arguably the most dominant team going forward.
City not making unforced defensive errors is a bit unlikely but possible - it's just a handful of games.
Third option would be Barca - as long as Messi has monstrous games thorughout the rest of the competition. But that happening _every game_ is even less likely than City not messing up defensively, which is why they're third.
PSG is the dark horse.
At the end of the day though, "being favorites" doesn't mean too much. Even the best team in the world isn't unbeatable. And any team can get knocked out due to having a bad game - maybe even just a span of bad 10 minutes. That's the nature of this competition.

Naseerul Kabir I’m a Barca fan but i think man city has the best chance, as good as Bayern looked against Chelsea, U can’t forget Chelsea are a average team this year and throughout the season Bayern have looked vulnerable to some low table bundesliga teams and I don’t think psg have a good enough defense to win the competition. Barca as well have been playing too slow and too dependent on Messi so idk. City have defensive issues too but when they’re at their best I think they’re better than any of the remaining teams left in the ucl. Almost forgot Real Madrid... Madrid are a good side but don’t have anything going forward and have also lost to some low table la liga teams.. atleti are really good defensively but they lack attack.. I think someone will eventually breakdown atleti and knock them out later in the competition, juventus are another contender but have looked very bad defensively at times in serie A and the ucl recently and lack creativity a lot of the time, I think someone will knock them out in the quarterfinals like last year against ajax
