CFMOTO recently unveiled their new inline four cylinder 500SR Voom which seems like a direct shot at the Kawasaki ZX4RR. It's a 78HP bike with a relatively light curb weight ant with it's retro styling it's calling back to the early 90s. If it sticks to the CFMOTO pattern, they'll under charge and over deliver. This is a company that the rest of the motorcycle industry needs to pay attention to.

People want "cool" motorcycles. Meaning, they need to stop building single cylinder bikes like the DR650, and start putting a parallel twin on every motorcycle, even the small 250cc trail bikes. This is 2024, and they have been building the exact same single cylinder trail bikes since 1984, that's 40 years with no real change. A parallel twin is smoother, but more importantly it sounds amazing and is incredibly exciting to drive. The fun factor of a small parallel twin is priceless.

First of all Z650rs is overpriced. Looks nice but shouldn't be over 8k. Cfmoto is just going to get bigger. New riders are going to get a 300nk/450nk/450ss as a beginner bike have a good experience and stay in the cfmoto ecosystem. The Big 4 need to open their eyes

I bought a transalp 750 last year, which comes with nothing basically. After u add heated grips, fog lights, crash bars, luggage u are talking 13-14k, but for 10k I could have gotten the cfmoto, which is tubeless and has cruise control. Why did i pay 4k extra for...less? Only one reason, the brand name (and my stupidity perhaps) would I currently buy the transalp again over the cfmoto? hell no. I would buy the cf, have a better bike and spend 4k elsewhere

As someone looking in to grabbing a smaller displacement "fun bike" the Zx4-RR is extremely attractive...but that price is painful. If the 500SR sits at a nicer price point, I'd be disgustingly tempted to pick one up. (Assuming they even make it to the US)

Let's not forget insurance. The ZX4RR is an expensive little bike to insure. More than likely because it's in the supersport category. Let's see what the VOOM is classified as.

    • @langhamp8912
      @langhamp8912 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@jerrymorales6501 First year insurance can be goofy; insurance companies generally don't have enough data to properly judge the risk of such bikes. For example, my Yamaha XSR900 was given high insurance premiums, and then dropped into the low risk category. The Suzuki GSX8S (which I was looking to buy) had low insurance for the first year, then doubled afterwards; apparently the GSX8S was being crashed in huge numbers.
And Suzuki's GSXS1000, which is similar to a GSXR1000, has some of the lowest insurance rates in the motorcycle industry.

You hit the nail on the head. Let’s be realistic. The A2 restriction much as I loathe the idea of restrictions in general is well thought out. 48 hp is more than enough to get a bike up to speed and break every speed limit in the country.
The Honda 500 CC parallel twin engine is widely panned as one of the least exciting engines available in the small displacement market. As the owner of a CB 500 X I can attest that that statement is 100% accurate. Regardless, even with my 300 pound when fully geared ass on it, the bike easily hits 90 miles an hour according to the GPS.
As riders we don’t actually need 100+ horsepower bikes. I own three of them, but I don’t kid myself that those bikes need 100 hp. Although it certainly does help the Goldwing get out of its own way at 900 pounds.
For the majority of riders, just looking to get out on two wheels and have a good time with a bike that looks nice and has a reasonable degree of modern technology, the current offerings from the big four are actually pretty awful.
Seriously why do I need to pay $15,000 to get into a bike with cruise control?
The CLX 700 has cruise standard and you can buy last year‘s model all day long for 4500 bucks (5500 bucks out the door with all the dealer fees)
I’m an old man so I could give a shit about phone integration, but I understand that people under the age of 50 do care about that kind of thing and all of CF Moto lineup offers it .
Were I in the market for a new bike I have a really hard time, not walking into the nearest CF Moto dealership and giving them my money.

    • @langhamp8912
      @langhamp8912 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

I would hope the major consideration of anyone buying a performance standard/supersport would be doing trackdays on it, and for that racetracks seem to suck the HP right out of most bikes.
This is my list of bikes from the big four that I think are reasonable powerful, do OK on the track, have modern tech, and are reasonably priced.
      Yamaha MT09/XSR900
      Kawasaki Z900
      Suzuki GSX8S
      Suzuki GSXS1000
      Honda CB650
All those bikes have ABS/TC, make decent power and can handle trackday duty. Also, all these bikes are fairly cheap to insure.

I agree with you that others in the industry ignore CFmoto (and a few other Chinese manufacturers) at their peril. I was considering a CFmoto nk450 and Ninja 400, but ended up going with a lightly used QJ srkr550 (aka Benellie Tornado 552R). While at first I was not completely happy with it, I did some minor adjustments and got the rear shock preload adjusted to my weight (220 lbs/100Kg), adjusted the clutch free play and lever position and removed the giant crash bars the previous owner put on for some more reasonable (smaller) drop bars. Now I’m very satisfied with the motorcycle. I got 60 hp, dual disk front brakes 270 crank, KYB (semi- adjustable) suspension for a lot less than a Ninja 400 and the same price was an nk450 in this market. While some minor adjustment (not repair) was needed, if you can buy a bike from a reputable dealer in your area that can access parts and take care of any small issues/adjustment, than I think a brand like CFmoto represents really good value. If there are no dealers or a way to get parts (if you’re handy at wrenching) then I would still go with a more established brand. At the very least, the traditional players have to watch their game to make sure they stay competitive.

Living in Greece with way shorter commutes than almost anywhere else in the world, it actually makes more sense to get a smaller (under 900cc) bike and with that in mind I am all for getting a CFmoto which is much cheaper that the rest. Currently got my eyes on a 450 MT but that 500SR is a beauty.

I own a CFmoto 650GT and let me tell you: I'm very happy with my purchase ❤, I love that bike. Yes, it's a bit heavy to daily it but that's a bonus when when you're on the open road and it's also not that fast (fully loaded it will do 180kmh/111mph, without top case and bags 200kmh/124mph) but I wasn't looking for a super fast bike anyway! I wanted a mid-cc that I could daily, looked cool and that I could take for long rides comfortably! ...and I got it $60K MXN ($3,300-ish USD) cheaper than a Versys 650!!

I bought a brand new 2022 300nk as my first bike. The bike was good for a learner, but when I was looking at upgrading, it got a gremlin in the ecu. It would shut off when I came to a complete stop.
The shop replaced the ecu under warranty but it still took two months.
I may have had a lemon. I have a cbr600rr now, but the km's are getting a little high, I'm keen to see what the new 675sr will be like and get that new bike feeling again.

I really like the style of the 500 voom. Another reason to consider this bike, is hp/ weight ratio. For some particular situation, I have been riding a small 250 machine, ínstead of my other 1200 cc bikes. And even I miss the big power, the light bike makes me feel very secure, and in heavy traffic it’s the way to go. So maybe this new 4 cilínder 500, will have the best of both worlds

So I own a 2022 Yamaha XTZ690 (Tenere 700). I have taken this bike to hell and back including 500 mile road trips, Enduro single track and mud work. I even sunk it in a small lake and had to drain the cylinders of water, it still started and I rode it home. So with all that in mind, my biggest concern with brands like CF Moto is are they reliable and rugged? Can I trust that it'll not only get me out there but also take me home?

CFmoto is pumping out these bikes with literally no R&D like the big 4 Japanese.... They're just throwing copies of other brands motors in a cool looking new bike. Highly doubt they can handle the abuse and high mileage + parts availability when the models constantly get replaced.

hello spike, I think it's nice to have companies like CF MOTO that give a breath of freshness to motorcycles and not stick to one shape because then production is cheaper which, as you mentioned in the video, doesn't necessarily translate into price. Over the last few years, only KTM has been different than everyone else, and recently they joined it suzuki work the sharper features . I believe that CF MOTO, with its apricots and prices, will attract the attention of many motorcyclists who will want to have their motorcycle. 😎🤜🤛

KLR’s single would be hard for my 80% freeway rides. Just need a comfortable, simple, cheap to mantain but keeping some fun into the mix. Used to own also the CBR 600F4i back in the days! Now rather keep my temptations to ride too fast at bay.

There is a disconnect between what the customer thinks a motorcycle should cost and reality. Customers never want to spend their money, which is fine, but companies also need to make profits. It's a struggle as old as time.
There is a longer explanation but the basic idea is that innovation comes at a cost, copying is cheaper. The market needs both.
Kawasaki does not make money on their new motorcycle sales. They don't make much off of service or parts. Honda and Susuki are in the same situation.
Look at these companies public earnings reports. Most of the money is in financing, followed by service, followed by parts. Used bikes are more profitable than new ones. They are trying to just not lose money when they sell a new motorcycle while hoping you come back for oil changes.
That is the reality of the market for decades.

It's outrageous that all main manufacturers only seem to target horsepower when making new bikes, they increase capacity to keep getting gains in spite of the increased restrictions (like bikes that in most European countries can be used only half a year at best will produce a lot of pollution) and consequently increase price to keep getting a profit.

First off, love the Beau intro. But I did vote $10-13k in that poll. For me it’s the bikes that come equipped with what I want without sacrificing anything. I’d gladly spend what I bought my 21’ MT-09 for $9.5k for the MT-07 if it had they same suspension and brakes, slipper clutch, and upgraded swing arm with rear link for the shock. Maybe closer to 100hp to keep up with its competitors. While I do enjoy the electronic suite on my MT-09 I don’t need it with an MT-07 so they can go back to their previous lcd dash, no need for dbw w/ bi-directional qs. Just give me enough to ride it sporty in the mountains as a heavier human. The closest thing to that is the 790 with upgraded WP suspension which I’m pretty sure is as or more expensive than the current MT-09 that has everything as the 990, although that 990 really has my attention if I could trust the engine

This is the first chinese company that is super serious about making good bikes and is bringing the heat to other manufacturers that have been withholding features that cost them nothing on their lower end bikes.
