The Hawks can only afford to trade one of them. Atlanta doesn't want to start from scratch. It takes time to build chemistry. By the way, Trae is the main reason State Farm sells out!
and he's also the main reason why they lose. hawks should be a 50 win team by now with the roster they got. he's a ball hogger, takes 25 shots a game and doesn't play any defense at all. i'd keep dejounte and trade trae but nobody wants trae so they're stuck with him.
@@bunduman18 The Hawks have gathered talent that can't dribble or create for themselves. They have too many bad contracts. Trae has improved defensively but isn't great. No team wins with one star.

What is exactly is the rush? What does Atlanta have to lose? They’ve been a joke for years, what’s a few more gonna hurt? Boston is looking like they’re going to be a dynasty for the next 5 years. Teams like Orlando and NY are going to improve every year going forward. Then you have teams like Miami, Philly, and Cavs, that’s are only one move away from being a serious contender, who we know are going to be going for that move this summer. Hawks are cooked. The only team in the east that they actually have a brighter future than is Detroit. What is the point in doing ANYTHING but rebuilding?
-You are completely right about Trae selling tickets. I’m not sure the Hawks can afford to not have an attraction for a few years. If we’re being real, this team needs new ownership and management even more than they need a trade.
Nobody watches games, they just follow twitter narratives…Trae puts up historic numbers dam near every season and all folks talk about is defense. Mind you, half the so called stars play a lick of defense. Trade Murray and get a bigger co- star and improve the defense around them
He is the biggest liability at defence. It may not matter during regular season, but if you want to win during playoffs Trae is not your guy. He will be exploited by the other team.
Valid criticism- but that’s an issue for a lot of teams, including one in the finals.
Isn't that what they've been doing since they drafted him? They make moves every year to make up for Trae's shortcomings and it never seems to much. Isn't there a word for doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results?
people aren't concerned about raw numbers anymore. Stats like AST/TO ratio, BPM, VORP, TS% are just as important.

Murray was more of a well rpunded player in san antonio but he is a bad fit on a offense focused team. He would have been a better player going to miami or new york, someone who is hard nosed

OU is not a bball school. Trae only went there because they promised him the green light. What can you do in the league with a small, shoot first, pass as a last option, gunner who plays no defense? That works on the playground, but it doesn't help the team win. Be real, there aren't 4 guys anywhere willing to play hard defense for 4 qtrs and stand around on offense waiting for rebounds.

i think murray would be smarter, bigger plays D (actually put in effort) And is on a cheaper deal so you can sign a couple more players. Use traes 40 mill to get another star. Bc yes trae has alot of assists but there short roll and lobs, not really setting up teamates in the best spots. So let murray handle initiate the offense and use the weapons instead of making them spot up in a corner or set a screen. I thought that would be the plan when he came from s.a , let trae cook offball while he gets him the ball. But obviously they had different plans.

Correct, tanking does nothing for the hawks here. Also if they trade Trae/DJ for picks, those picks will probably be from average-to-good teams looking to level up, meaning they won’t be high picks. Trading proven all-stars for picks in the 15-20 range is a ass backwards move

The Hawks are in a nice spot - they were a near .500 team last year, and they're adding a #1 talent.
It looks like it's a center joining the team, but even trading Capela isn't necessarily the right move.
Look at what Dallas did this year with Gafford + a rookie C Lively off the bench.
I'm the cautious GM type - I want to see my own guys given the chance to come together as a team before I decide there's a bad fit.
I'd wait until the regular season to make a trade, unless there's some obvious contract situations that need to be resolved.
Murray a better two way player and honestly we really haven't seen him get a chance to be the guy. Trae has his shot but clearly he is more a second or even third option. Probably needs to learn how to run an offense instead of just read and react assist
That would be idiotic. The reason they aren’t winning now is because they can’t draft. The Trae pick was great. Trae and Luka aren’t good at defense but Trae had upside and he’s getting better, plus that had an extra pick they wasted on Cam Reddish, then they got Hunter and #4. That was a bust. They can’t draft. So having the #1 in what’s been considered a bad draft is not a time to gut the team and rebuild. Keep Trae, trade or even cut Hunter and Capela. Get a vet like Jimmy Butler or Pat Bev. Trade down get Edey so they can have a post player, cause Sarr is 3 or 4 yrs away from contributing.

Spurs own Atlanta 1st round pick next year unprotected. If Atlanta starts over they might not be very good that pick goes to spurs even if its #1 again.
Those picks are usually Top 3 protected.

S.A and ATL have been in talks for trades for YEARS at least 2 years before getting rid of D.J…. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a quick trade draft day.. some of their picks back and 1 of the lottery picks for this year plus a body or 2

What undersized, inefficient, defensive liability guard has ever won a chip? I never understood why they traded for him. Same thing with Milwaukee and trading for Lillard. These type of players are such liabilities on D that it doesn’t matter how many long 3s they can shoot.
It’s incredibly difficult to win in the playoffs when your point of attack defender is a pylon
The problem with ATL is the lack of stability at the coaching position. No consistency in coaching. How can a team develop players with constant switching leadership?

Sarr can’t help. He has no offensive game at all and in the combine Edey measured better agility. Edey can give you the same D and 15 to 20 points a game.
Keep Murray until the deadline trade trae now. Murray’s on a good contract but trays eating up 50 mil
Trade murray, capella and Bogdan and number 1 for pg13 and DeAndre ayton, clippers get 7th pick and Murray and Bogdan, blazers get 1st and capella......it won't happen but it would make the hawks contenders in the east
The biggest difference between them is Trae will FOREVER be an absolute liability on the defensive end. He could score 50 a night as far as I'm concerned and I would still trade him. Championships are won on both sides of the basketball. Another knock on Trae is he's an awful locker room guy. Murray is big, long, and has shown real defensive potential in his career. I bet there are plenty of advanced stats that show Murray to be the better player.

See, you have guys are making WAY too much money. If the best player is making $50M a year and you cant bring the same value to the basketball court as he is to his team......then you need to take less money to off set that gap. If Jokic and someone lik eTrae Young or Dejonte Murray are making the same amount of money and Jokioc is the only one delivering, then you're simply overpaid. You cant be getting paid the same as actual superstars who are delivering for their teams.

They need to trade Trae. He's overrated. Dejounte needs to stay. He plays both ends of the court and is a good defender. He's not old so he fits with a rebuild. Trading for picks though......The Hawks drafted Trae, they drafted Cam Reddish, they drafted Deandre Hunter. Drafting well isn't what they do. The Hawks really need to work on their scouting department.

Most guys passing style is more like LeBron where there read and react assist guys and there assist are based on how they score. Trae would become a better facilitator under coach pop learning how to actually run a system. I don't think he is a efficient enough scorer to be your best offensive threat and probably needs to be more focused on being a Steve Nash than a Gilbert arenas

Quite honestly, the Hawks are in the perfect position to do a quick rebuild. They have the #1 pick, they have trade pieces in Trae, Dejounte, Bogdan & Clint.
They have young pieces like Hunter & Johnson.
Why not trade Trae to the SPURS for #4 & #8 picks, so they could end up picking 3 times in top 8, which should be 3 solid NBA players
Highly unlikely that any of those 3 picks end up being close to as good as Trae or DJ. People put way too much stock in draft picks these days vs. Actual good players

Tanking for assets doesn’t work. Plus the Spurs can pick swap for like three years. Trading him to a team that’s going to win makes no sense. A trade to the Spurs is just foolish. That will never happen.
OKC in the same boat as the Hawks. The Hawks have been further (farther?) in the playoffs and have made the playoffs more times in that span with all those picks. Who did OKC draft? They traded for SGA.
Why every other team “need time to figure it out” but the Hawks must blow up the team and tank after one season? It’s only been one season. They aren’t the Pistons or the Hornets completely devoid of talent. A few tweaks and they could make some real noise.
Also the draft record for Atlanta is painful to read. They are not strong at that at all. Gaffe after gaffe. There’s no confidence there. You can count the stars they’ve drafted in history with 1 finger(Trae Young). They’ve only had a handful of stars even play there…Dominique, Trae Young, Joe Johnson…..maybe Dikembe???
Keep relatively the same team, add the #1 pick, use free agents to fill in the gaps. Or trade other players on the team like Hunter or Bey. Build around the margins. If not, then star for star. You can’t trade these guys for draft picks.
