I've been lucky, I've never had a cat that was aggressive towards me, and there have been a lot of them!!! lol. But I sure understand about the reverse aggression!! Many times my cats can get aggressive, seeing a stray that happens to be passing by outside the window and yes, will jump at the closest cat that's near them!! When I see this I will quickly try to get their attention away from the situation, and so far none of them has ever came after me!! This was a great video with some good info, especially the part about punishing a cat!! I cannot count the times people I know had said they had to punish their cat or dog for doing something. A few even said they put them in a crate for "time out"!!!! LOL. Like do they really think that animal is sitting in there reflecting on what he did wrong so he won't do it again??? No, he's wondering why you screamed at him, cracked him with a rolled up newspaper and shoved him in a crate!!!😿 Some people are cruel and just have no brains at all!!! I sure hope those kinds of people watch this video!! 🐈😻
Oh yes, hearing stories like that makes me so upset! Punishment is a big no-no. I love the way you put it... it's not like a cat or dog would sit there reflecting on their behavior. 😹 And then they wonder why their pet doesn't bond with them. 😒 More people need to learn pet behavior basics.
Grand Master Ly if your cat to growl you when you want to hold her. There are two reasons why she growl at you. You might be holding her wrong by picking her up to fast. Cats don't like when people move to fast. And the second reason is without realizing you might be hurting her. You have to be very gentle while you picking her up. You also have to talk to her when you are going to pick her up
Cats have their own issues. It took my cat most of her life to be civil. The day my grandma passed away, she sat on top of me and did not bite me at all afterwards. Odd behavior modification
Wonderful information. I have had a lot of cats and they have never scratched the hand that feeds them. But my black cat Susie is always after my 2 dogs and the dogs are always stressed out and on the run from all my black cats. They even live in fear of even using the doggie door, but my Buddy has been more relaxed after taking CBD treats and isn't so scared of all black cats. I think Susie cat needs them too. 🐾
It just started and it's got me so upset, I love this guy so much. It happened after a smell. Hasent stopped hissing and growling. He is a lovey dovey cat always. Me and him were petting this morning and all the sudden he grabbed and bit hard. Hes not fixed.
My cat bites me when he doesn’t get attention or he wants something. I’ve tied that behavior to him getting his way so he continues to do it. He also will bite me if I touch him where he doesn’t want to be touched. He just expresses his wants by biting. He hates being ignored but if he doesn’t want to be touched a certain way or I didn’t give him water or food by a certain time he nibbles me to tell me. It’s his way of expressing his disappointment. He doesn’t bite hard or has major aggression. It’s his way of reminding me to care for him and when I don’t he gets upset as anyone would if you forget to feed them or give them fresh water. I now leave a faucet on a drip so he always have water if his water fountain is low. I also set a timer and moved the food where I can see it. He doesn’t like when anyone sits in his seat so I brought him a new bed so he has a couple of places to rest when I have company or If the dog or I am sitting in that spot. He is now less aggressive but he’s still young too. He also gets upset when he I don’t give him his favorite treats. I brought him more toys too.
@rosie676711. Yes! All of this. I think my cat thinks I'm annoying too because I want to pet him and for him to sit with me too much. He sits with everyone but me. 😂
Thank you, your is video is very simple fact based advice, for cat owners who need it, hopefully it can make problems go away so the cats 🐈 and their people can have a happy life
My cat will randomly attack us…like my mom or me will be giving him love and all of a sudden he will get pissed off n attack us- or we will tell him no and pick him up to take him off the counter and he will attack our face
Am happy to find this video and learn I am not alone. I even chuckle at reading some comments because I have the same cat problem! I adopted a 7-year old, declawed orange tabby two weeks ago. He adapted to everything with no problem, BUT he bites me for no reason. Draws blood. I've been to doctor and am on 2 antibiotics. So far the biting occurs when on my bed. (Yes, he's slept on my bed from day one.) I'm either petting him, or I move slightly, which disturbs him. He initiates the petting. I've never had a biting cat before. I hate to return him to the shelter, but am now wearing long-sleeve shirts to protect my arm and hide all the red marks on it. Any suggestions?
My family and I recently got a new cat. He is neutered and can be super friendly and cuddly but also very agressive. I know cats need time, love and patience to get comfortable with us but my parents wants to give him back to the shelter and get another cat. I’m sad, I don’t want the cat to go through that stress again, I know we could help him if we learned how :( I wish I could at least give him to someone professional who’d help him. :(
Hi. Wondering what happened with your cat? I'm just adopted a cat 5 weeks ago and he is getting more aggressive every day. I don't want to return him to the shelter, but it's becoming out of hand.
You are not on your own. I live in Germany and have adopted a 6 year oid black female cat from an animal shelter last year. Unfortunately my cat was mistreated by her previous owners. She has sufferred alot of stress and anxiety and had hardly any fur. In general, she is a sweet cat and loves sitting on my lap and loves to play. She is clean and housetrained. However, if I make a sudden movement or use a broom to clean for example; she becomes very aggressive, hisses and attacks me. I find this upsetting but I just walk away. I have consulted the vet but I simply have to give my cat time to adapt to her forever home with me. The good news is, is that her fur has regrown.
I'm here after my whole right hand is full of scratches & bite marks 😢 I fought with my cat and the results were very painful for me. Don't punish or fight with your cat, Hoomans
I don't understand alot in this video so I'll just say it Ever since I woke up my cat became aggressive like when I was just laying down in my bed reading he approached me and attacked me why?? Nothing happened the night before
Last night I went to pet my grumpy girl and she mowed at me that she didn't like so I quit. Then she followed me wanting to be petted so I did, then she started purring like she was enjoying it then she started to get aggressive and demanding tense etc. I had to sit her down it felt like she was gonna attack me. Yet she initiated it so I dunno, my other cats don't do this. I have been attacked in the past by an aggressive cat we had many years ago and it gives me anxiety that she could become worse.
It wasn't playful aggression like my other cats she was more or less getting really worked up when I was petting her as she was purring then she started to get mad and tense so I stopped.
Unfortunately this did not help me - my cat grabs me around the lower leg in the early in the morning I think he wants food but at 2am the shock of pain makes me jump and he draws blood. I have recently been infected by a wound. He is on a vet diet and I am getting near the ned of my tether he is okay if I walk to the kitchen but if i try to go back to bed then he will go for me.
Oh oh. I fucked up. I have a young insanely aggressive cat that can either be super cuddly or attack you non stop and make you bleed like crazy like I am right now. I didn’t know you were not meant to punish them. I have been punishing her for 2 months…..
can someone explain something to me? i got my male cat at i think three months, he lived in a house with his littermates but also a lot of children that played pretty roughly, but at our house he was pretty calm and affectionate at first. He did bite everything he saw, but we thought it would pass with time. Now at 5 years old he is very agressive, but only when you pet him beyond his neck. on his head its fine and he loves that, he will lay on his back and show his belly which is a sign of trust i think, but the moment you pet him anywhere that's not his head he will go full on agressive on you and bite and scratch with all he's got. But the moment you pet him on the head again its like nothing happened. I got a cat to cuddle with, not to be afraid of. Can someone please explain what/why this is and maybe how to fix it?
For people who have never had cats this was an excellent video! I even took away a couple of tips! But frankly, this was a basic video for someone like me! I've had cats all my life, along with just about 30 or 40 types of other animals! growing up on a farm will do that to you! Lol! But overall, for anyone who has never had Cats or any animal, this is a Great Starter Video! Great Job, Purring Journal! :)
help. My cat does this thing where she starts following me around, running in front of my legs and rubbing against me every chance she gets. If I’m not careful enough while walking or also half the time when I’m just standing, she’ll claw my legs. I’ve bled 2 times this week due to this already. This evening she started doing the regular thing, so i gave her the wet food (as i do every evening). She ate most of it, then came back to rubbing as i was walking by. We got her a few months ago from a shelter so she doesn’t rlly tolerate petting, but she’s fine with brushing with a brush, so i brushed her too. Then as i was walking away she kept rubbing against me. Then i stoped so she could rub without me tripping over. She rubbed a little, then suddenly turned around and clawed my leg. Hissed too without even looking at me. I used to think she did this due to getting spooked from legs moving or being in a certain position, but this came out of nowhere and seemed deliberate. What does it mean? Should i bring her to a wet?
Okay what if the cat starts attacking your kids for no reason and when they run away the cat follows and attacks. The cat did it to me last night and to my child. This is insane and I have no clue what to do
this just happened, my grandma was out on balcony and usually my cat followes and has his rolling in the sun moment, this time he was doing just that, but grandma called me, “look how cute he is being” and i ran to see it, i have no idea how he took it, he just lunged at me (usually when he is being aggressive, i am the one he trusts to be around) then right at that moment my grandpa came back home and once he opened the door, my cat ran for him, i though he’d either ran outside or scratch him, so i tried to follow but he turned on me once more and scratched my legs, he hissed at me too few times, i have no idea what triggered it, with a lots of effort, i went into a different room, he followed me and now he is locked in there. have any suggestions ? i didn’t hit him or anything, i know better than that, he is sterile too, so i don’t understand. he kept cring in the room, now it’s silent, knowing him, he either sits in front of the door staring at it or actually fall asleep
My cat is attacking me particularly when I take a shower. She will reach into the shower and scratch me or sneak behind me and scratch my foot. It isn't playful. She turns feral and howls and screams at me and I don't do anything. She'll stay this way for about 3-4 hrs then come up to me like nothing happened and purr and ask to be pet. It's bizarre and I absolutely hate it. It's actually dangerous. She'll also sometimes not let me feed her. If I try to approach the bowl, she'll hiss and howl at me until I go away. Later, she'll come to me asking for food and THEN it's totally okay to feed her.
I was just making my bed, the cat had come into my room a few minutes before, and then suddenly he'd jumped on the bed and started to grab the sheet. I thought he was playing at first so I tried playing with him but quickly realised he was being rougher than usual. I tried to calm him down, but he just got more aggressive. I even opened the window and door so he could leave but he just stood his ground on the bed trying to attack me whenever I moved.
Why does my cat scratch on the furniture only when I'm around? I'm told when I'm not home he doesn't do it. He uses his scratching posts and pads. As soon as I'm home he misbehaves immediately. I'm not aggressive towards him. He prefers men to women too. So weird
I cat sat a new cat for me but met him w/its guardian- 45 m after cat sit he swatted then hissed and followed me hissing about to attack as I walked away tried to be calm and then he bit me 2x- blood and Dr appt later- the cat never did that before she said. Scary
What should I do with my new puppy and the cat that I've had for a long1 time.the cat won't stop hissing and trying to scratch or bite the puppy everything she can .I think she is scared but idk
Is there an alternative to Playtime Sessions? I was first to suggest Playtime Sessions but my dad kept saying no because its a form of teasing the cat to get aggressive on you. every time I try to be playful with our cat I get punished for it. Again, is there an alternative solution to get her aggression out? Maybe she and I will get along better. Right now, the way she gets her aggression out is constantly attacking me when I walk by or sometimes when I look at her. Because of all the attacking I had to get multiple wound infections. So please tell me how to prevent it all without Playtime Sessions. I really want to be not scared of our cat. Vets are too expensive, so we are thinking of going to a vet once every 2 years. And in 2-3 months will be a year since she went to a vet last.
i few weeks ago i was playing with my cat and scared him REALLY baddly ( not knowing) and the next day he was fine with me and randomly started to his at me and slowly crawl to me and a perdotor to prey kind of way and he dosent go near me anymore and often puffs up his tail and hissing at me...
Well my mom's cat attacks her when she gets upset. It was my dad's cat he passed away over a year ago. But I mean he'll jump on her if she's crying and he hurts her. I'm trying to figure out what to do cuz I hate to get rid of her cat it was my dad's. I guess it's probably noise-induced aggression
Why has fear aggression suddenly become me, he's 3 and I've had him from young. Or its redirected because I just got fish, and he looks at the cats outside and then I'm the problem, it's just like my ex.
My cat I believe got Jelouse she didn’t just hiss and attack me she did this to her sister who she was born and brought home with together. I don’t understand . I bought my friend over and she had to bring her cat cause she got kicked out of her home and I had to bring the cat. They were separated in another room they left but I think she still smells the cat and may be mad the cat took her territory for a while. It was only two days. The other one doesn’t do it just this specific one.
Walking away doesn’t help. If I turn my back to deescalate he will move forward and attack me anyway from behind. I have never hurt my cat and do not understand why he’s so proactively aggressive. I literally give him anything he wants, toys, top quality food, automatic litter box, and try to make sure he has a stimulating environment. I have never owned a cat in 30 plus years of having them, who has been aggressive towards me. He is a semi feral rescue that I adopted when he was 4 and has been both loving and aggressive so I’m confused about what the triggers are. I have never owned a feral cat before. Sadly, he will be my last if this is their typical behavior. I have no idea why, but he seeks me out to be aggressive out of the blue. I walked into the living room from my study to lay down. He was sitting calmly next to me at my desk, he followed me to the living room and when I tried to sit on the sofa he moved forward to attack my legs. I said no and backed away to lay on the sofa to deescalate but he moved forward, jumped up and because I was low trying to lay down he scratched my face. I’m honestly very frustrated and ready to give him away at this point. This happened today hence why I’m online to find videos speaking on this topic. Next step is the vet to see if he’s in some sort of discomfort. He looks very healthy, shiny coat, long, lean, muscular and 16lbs. He’s not fat, tall, long with big head and paws. Wasn’t neutered until his rescue at 4, so he was a big cat from a lengthy life with testosterone. If it’s not pain aggression then I give up and I have never given up on a cat before.
Cats don’t need CBD… We had a problem when my partner started force-feeding CBD mixing it with my cat food and when she doesn’t have it, she becomes extremely aggressive. It took a long time to figure out why catnap is one thing CBD is another… Keep the CBD for yourself or your children not for your cats.
I adopted a cat over a month ago and she NEVER allows me to pet her. She bites and scratches me and im just fed up. I have scars on my hands from her scratching me so im taking her back, smh
so that didn't really help in my case! our cat i will feed her she eats then will turn around and hiss at me or take a swipe at me for walking past! she will go out of her way sit next to me and challenge me! she can get quite aggressive sometimes and i would have to lock her out of the room and she'll sit at the door growling! all i want to do is love her and she won't have a bar of it! she loves my wife tho!😢
Personally its wild to me that even if a cat is wrong u cant correct them because they dont understand punishment id say for some but my cat definitely know what that is and don't do the shi she knows is gonna get her punished
U need to show dominance to a cat or any other animal, or else it would not respect u, if u are polite and a softball your pet would feel superior to u and act violent and aggressive, I am not telling u to be violent against ur pet, but u need to slap it or throw cold water on it so it get to understand who is the boss, if anyone tells u anything else and you choose to believe it because u are a 🐱 then let it be, have u ever seen animals respect the weak and kindhearted in their group? Or the violent alpha?

I might be in a toxic relationship with my cat. My ex-husband left him with me. My kids and I think he (our cat) assumed many of my exes' personality traits. My daughter describes him as a mean drunk old man. He is a very large moody cat who will attack out of the blue. Like when someone passes him minding their own business, he attacks. Sometimes, he seems to hate the whole family, but he seems to love me, and I love the little asshole too. He hangs out in my room and often sleeps near my head. He gets up with me in the morning, he trills and meows at me, and he follows me around when he wants attention. He's only attacked me once. His ears are flattened a lot around people and he's unpredictable, so everyone is afraid of him. Why is he such a jerk to everyone?
I have had good, friendly cats and I have had nasty cats. Accept no excuses. Just get a good cat, and get rid of the bad cats. Don't waste your time or money.
This is heartbreaking to read. Cats aren't inanimate objects that you should "get rid of" if something goes wrong. As explained in the video, with time and patience, behavioral problems ARE treatable. I hope your troubled cats found loving homes.

Cats have their own issues. It took my cat most of her life to be civil. The day my grandma passed away, she sat on top of me and did not bite me at all afterwards. Odd behavior modification
Thanks so much very informative blog post!
Idk why my cat charges me for no reason like ill just be walking by and he willslowly walk towards me and then charge.
So I guess you reward a child if it smacked you to get its way?
Thank you, your is video is very simple fact based advice, for cat owners who need it, hopefully it can make problems go away so the cats 🐈 and their people can have a happy life
My cat will randomly attack us…like my mom or me will be giving him love and all of a sudden he will get pissed off n attack us- or we will tell him no and pick him up to take him off the counter and he will attack our face
Same happening with me and my mom.....! Have you done anything about it
Same with me as well. Please share if you have found a solution
What happened with u
Always Good info in video ! 😊🤗My cat 🥰😻😺🐈 is very easy going & I got my kitty when it was 6 months old !❤
Am happy to find this video and learn I am not alone.
You say leave the room but he attacks me after purring and headbutting me while I am on the toilet🧍🏻♂️
I adopted a black cat from the shelter she's aggressive level 3 I never dealt with paws being aim at me but not given up on her....I hope she changes.
Get rid of it Wtf what do you mean you hope it changes? You people make no sense
Has she gotten better? I just adopted a cat 5 weeks ago and he is getting more aggressive each day.
I'm here after my whole right hand is full of scratches & bite marks 😢
I fought with my cat and the results were very painful for me.
Don't punish or fight with your cat, Hoomans
Sounds like me. My orange tabby cat attacked me a week ago & I was scratched up & gushing out blood from head to toe.
Yep here with a bloody sore hand.. My guy attack when there's too much noise & stimulation!
I don't understand alot in this video so I'll just say it
Ever since I woke up my cat became aggressive like when I was just laying down in my bed reading he approached me and attacked me why?? Nothing happened the night before
My cat has started attacking me by asking for cuddles, then clawing me!😢😢
My cat get angry when ever I touch his food(like: the time when i give him treats or something) what to do now it’s very annoying😒
Ive learned something very important about my cats behaviour. So thanks a lot!
Lots got answered! Hes getting his ball's cut off and I'm going to lovingly laugh at him on the way in.
Oh oh. I fucked up. I have a young insanely aggressive cat that can either be super cuddly or attack you non stop and make you bleed like crazy like I am right now. I didn’t know you were not meant to punish them. I have been punishing her for 2 months…..
Sounds like my male orange tabby attacked me non stop & had put me in the hospital. I was all bloody from head to toe & scratched up
@@patricianguyen5545 how do you handle him now? Is he still with you? I recently experienced the same
can someone explain something to me? i got my male cat at i think three months, he lived in a house with his littermates but also a lot of children that played pretty roughly, but at our house he was pretty calm and affectionate at first.
What is the point of you commenting if you’re just gonna talk yourself up?
Our cat gets mad when we leave the house and will attack when we come home. It’s separation anxiety.
Okay what if the cat starts attacking your kids for no reason and when they run away the cat follows and attacks. The cat did it to me last night and to my child. This is insane and I have no clue what to do
Why am i watching this, i dont even have a cat?
this video is so hellpfull😄
I love my baby but a tabby cat will get mad at times when they can't get their way.But were doing fine❤
this just happened, my grandma was out on balcony and usually my cat followes and has his rolling in the sun moment, this time he was doing just that, but grandma called me, “look how cute he is being” and i ran to see it, i have no idea how he took it, he just lunged at me (usually when he is being aggressive, i am the one he trusts to be around) then right at that moment my grandpa came back home and once he opened the door, my cat ran for him, i though he’d either ran outside or scratch him, so i tried to follow but he turned on me once more and scratched my legs, he hissed at me too few times, i have no idea what triggered it, with a lots of effort, i went into a different room, he followed me and now he is locked in there. have any suggestions ? i didn’t hit him or anything, i know better than that, he is sterile too, so i don’t understand. he kept cring in the room, now it’s silent, knowing him, he either sits in front of the door staring at it or actually fall asleep
I love cats.
I pay rent to my cat for living in their house they rule everything here.
My cat was lying on the floor stretched out and relaxed I walked around her and got popped with her claws ? Thoughts
Why does my cat scratch on the furniture only when I'm around? I'm told when I'm not home he doesn't do it. He uses his scratching posts and pads. As soon as I'm home he misbehaves immediately. I'm not aggressive towards him. He prefers men to women too. So weird
I cat sat a new cat for me but met him w/its guardian- 45 m after cat sit he swatted then hissed and followed me
hissing about to attack as I walked away tried to be calm and then he bit me 2x- blood and Dr appt later- the cat never did that before she said. Scary
My cat is out of control :,)
don't shove your hand in their face all the time. most of the time it's an accident, and a misunderstanding
Any updates on your cat? I'm in the same boat here :(
The only time that my cat hisses is when our second dog is with us..( she gets stressed out )
I have to remove her from the area where he is
Mine does it too can't sleep she's lunging so at a loss
if you spay or neuter your cat bc of aggression plz do not tell them that they where spayed or neuterd it will make them more aggressive
Am I the only one watching this to understand why I am aggressive towards smb?
Cats don’t need CBD… We had a problem when my partner started force-feeding CBD mixing it with my cat food and when she doesn’t have it, she becomes extremely aggressive. It took a long time to figure out why catnap is one thing CBD is another… Keep the CBD for yourself or your children not for your cats.
CBD for animals should only be used when discussed with you and your vet, sometimes it helps with certain medical conditions
Can you do a video about facts on Bengal cats?
il, mio Leo diventa aggressivo solo nel gioco.. ma non mi ha mai creato problemi di nessun genere..
My cat literally not my face
I adopted a cat over a month ago and she NEVER allows me to pet her. She bites and scratches me and im just fed up. I have scars on my hands from her scratching me so im taking her back, smh
No seriously, my cat attacked me for no reason
My cat during feeding time : I❤U
My cat rest of the day: How would you like to die😂
so that didn't really help in my case! our cat i will feed her she eats then will turn around and hiss at me or take a swipe at me for walking past! she will go out of her way sit next to me and challenge me! she can get quite aggressive sometimes and i would have to lock her out of the room and she'll sit at the door growling! all i want to do is love her and she won't have a bar of it! she loves my wife tho!😢
The cat's not agressive but scared
Why do humans put up with cats?
BUILDERS DONT LIKE IT WHEN CATS SHIT IN THE SAND THEY ARE USING CATS ALSO DONT LIKE IT WHEN BUILDERS USE UP ALL THE SAND THEY WERE SHITTING IN
Not true
Personally its wild to me that even if a cat is wrong u cant correct them because they dont understand punishment id say for some but my cat definitely know what that is and don't do the shi she knows is gonna get her punished
😾👍
U need to show dominance to a cat or any other animal, or else it would not respect u, if u are polite and a softball your pet would feel superior to u and act violent and aggressive, I am not telling u to be violent against ur pet, but u need to slap it or throw cold water on it so it get to understand who is the boss, if anyone tells u anything else and you choose to believe it because u are a 🐱 then let it be, have u ever seen animals respect the weak and kindhearted in their group? Or the violent alpha?
I am done I am fed up my patience has run thin to the point of nonexistence no more I am not going to take the cities any longer. No, no no no more nevermore.
I can't think of another pet who displays 'petting aggression'. They are half-feral
The cat is the probelm

I'm sorry if my pragmatism upsets you, but any critter i invite into my home either he goes along with the program or he is gone. The good cat or dog or bird gets fed, is treated with kindness gets his shots but if he he bites the hand that feeds him it is not worth the grief.
@@MrRShoaf yeah people love animals too much. One hiss and you're gone.
@@ThePurringJournal nah homie is right! If I’m gonna invite and care for something in my home, they gonna respect me and my rules
