As a KISS fan since 1976, it’s still a thrill to still be part of the ride. This was pure joy to watch, and was great to hang out with Gene and just get a taste of what he does and what makes Kiss happen. What a ride it’s been for all of us!

I don't think, even us die-hard long time fans really appreciate just what was and still is involved in keeping the band on the road! At the end of the day, it was kicked off by four young New Yorkers. Their determination and focus was incredible. Can you imagine just how many times the threat of ridicule and resulting loss of credibility nearly pushed them to give it all up?! Thank heaven they didn't!

I worked a KISS concert in 1990 on the Hot In The shade tour at Battelle Hall which on the the second or third floor of the original section of the first built Columbus convention center. the hall is still there but the convention center is massive now. I was and still am an IATSE stagehand. Gene was there all day. He was there during load in just watching. He was there all damn day. He never left until after the show. He watched every one work. He watched every single thing that he could. He sees where very cent goes and that is no lie. He probably doesn't do that anymore but he certainly used to. i know because I have seen it. He was sitting on the loading dock watching us unload the trucks first thing in the AM. He watched all the rigging up. He watched every single step of the process. He knows what is hanging over his head and what he is standing on. He understands the entire process. I can just imagine going over expenses and settlement bills every night. I'm sure he is very involved. From hard core rock and rollers to it's all about the kids. Greatest show on earth. You did it Gene. You beat Barnum and Bailey.

There are many vids of KISS online. But when I saw this was NHK, Japanese network, I had to check it out. Sure enough, a great documentary production. Even when we were in grade school and part of the KISS Army, we used to go to Japan Town to the Japanese bookstores and buy the glossy high quality magazine that were thick like a phone book, with tons of great photos of them. Much better than the newsprint stuff in the states like Creem and Circus magazines. Even the Runaways had really nice magazines in the Japanese newsstands. No censorship. Garters and all. LOL. Thank you for sharing this Amadeus.

That was awesome! Gene has always been my favorite as he is a personal hero of mine. Way back in 76' when I first saw KISS on American television, I gravitated towards his demon persona on stage. But it was Gene as a person, off-stage, who helped form an identity for myself as a maturing young teen and man. It was his confidence and intensity on stage that carried over to my own outlook on life. So when he talks about his mother and the horrible predicament that she had to claw her way out of, coming to America with Gene in tow, it opened my eyes to what I always saw in Gene, going passed the make-up, you can see the man inside; a dedicated father, husband, and successful musician and businessman. "Everyday above ground, is a good day".

Clean living and a lot of luck. Of course it helps when you can afford the best health care and get checked up thoroughly 4 times a year or when any little thing doesn't feel right. Most of us have to wait 2 or 3 months to see a specialist. then if we think he is wrong and need a second opinion we are already half way dead because the cancer spread during the 2 to 3 month wait to see the specialist. @@haywoodyoudome I saw some good shows round that time. Good length, good set lists, they sounded good, and they seemed to be in good shape. They have progressively gotten worse since then. I opted to sit out the last of the continued farewell (again) tour, because it just seems overpriced, underplayed, and misdirected. I may be in the minority, but I don’t need the spectacle. I’d rather they just come out without the makeup and the costumes, and just play the music. That’s what I’ll miss about seeing them live. Just realized how awesome Gene's bass sound is. It's just a tight rock sound, no added effects that is noticable playing live. A lot of bassists have this loose and flimsy sound even in standard E of even tuned down a whole step. I want a bass to sound like a bass. Not against reverb or a delay added to it. Without the punch of the bass the guitar doesn't stand out as much.

You can clearly see the video is spliced because on some parts he is playing the Axe Bass and other he is playing the Punisher. All of you that are so critical, why do you even care?
