China and Indonesia have discussed potentially extending Indonesia’s high-speed railway, after Chinese Premier Li Qiang took a test ride of the line in the capital Jakarta on September 6, 2023. The launch date of the Beijing-funded project has been repeatedly delayed. The railway is now set to open sometime in September 2023.

Even with over runs and delays a train network is still worth it. It's better for the environment than planes and its a much more comfortable experience for the passengers. It's win-win!
hsr is a mass transportation ,riders in one train are probably equal to 40-50 flights depending on seatings of the plane.
To be fair, over the 3 years of COID-9, everhing is delayed.

So where are the nay-sayers a few years ago when the say it is impossible to build HSR in Indonesia? I want to see the look on their faces now.
I was disappointed when Jokowi finally chose China over Japan in the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train project. This choice turned out to be the right one. If you look at high-speed train projects in other countries where Japan is the construction consortium, you can see that all the road projects are in delayed or even not running at all. In addition, Japan refused when Indonesia asked for ToT (Transfer of Technology) requirements in the project proposal. But China even agreed. For China, there is no need to be too stingy in technology transfer. Because actually railway technology in China is also the result of German technology transfer. With a touch of Chinese and German technology, we can see that China is now capable of building its own high-speed rail system. In fact, more than 40,000 km have been built throughout mainland China. Longest in the world. And now they are bringing their high speed train technology to Indonesia, they have even transferred the technology to Indonesia. In the next few years, the largest train manufacturing company in Indonesia, P.T INKA, will be able to produce its own high-speed trains as the result of transfer technology. Currently, the company is even developing a train with a speed of 180 km/hour (semi-fast train) which will probably be used in the future high speed rail projects on the islands of Sumatra and Sulawesi which already have track gauges that are suitable for high speed trains.
Can't wait seeing Indonesian Made high speed train in Sumatra and Sulawesi. In Sulawesi, the train top speed running 160 km/h. But operasional only 120 km/h. For Sumatra, i think needs build New track. Because the old track only 1,062 mm gauge.

The most important thing is that Japan requires lenders to provide sovereign guarantees and is unwilling to take any risks. The Indonesian high-speed railway is a risk guarantee provided by Bank of China.
When the Chinese Premier comes in and take a ride himself, this really shows the commitment effort the Chinese government has put into.
Congratz to Indonesia to having the first HSR in ASEAN, even SG and MY couldn't have it 🤣
Once the HSR is linked to even more places like Surabaya and maybe Sumatra in the future, Indonesia will become an even better country to live in.
There won't be so much overcrowding in Jakarta and hopefully, more people will be spread out to live in the other cities.
SG doesn't need HSR though. Its too small
Singapore just needs to have one HSR connection into its city. With HSR, it can link all the way up Malaysia to Thailand into China. Trade and labour issues will be greatly improved.

As Indonesian myself I am glad that Indonesia finally have HSR, even with the overbudget and a little delayed, we need to remember that HSR is build not for profiting themselves, but to boost growth of the region that their serv, if every big City in Java island like Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Jember, Banyuwangi, Semarang, Cirebon are connected by HSR, every residents that need to travel in between big city can cut time and more convenient for them to either go to next business meeting or take a leisure trip because they have more time to spare. I wish Malaysia has a high speed train to connect from North/Thailand border to South/Singapore border. Then a east/west connect from East Coast to West Coast. Then I don't have to fly or take a car/bus from city to city. The problem with road is that you get traffic jams.
According to the Chinese plan, the Pan-Asia railway network will stretch from Kunming and Nanning in China all the way southward to connect Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Burmese, Malaysia and Singapore.
but malaysia canceled the project bacause of USA. LOL
Malaysia doesn't need HSR yet, it's better to focus on dealing with the invasion of foreigners
Even if it runs at a loss, it's the future of transportation amid concerns over fossil fuels and severe problems faced due to climate change.
Well done 👍
Congrat to Indonesia government and people. Greeting from China ❤
If we look back at the Indonesian government’s decision a few years ago, and then look at Japan’s current predicament in building high-speed rail for India and Vietnam, the Indonesian people will definitely feel extremely lucky. Because the Indonesian government chose China's high-speed rail.
💯 true
Then why not continue partnership with China? Successful results should be rewarded with continued partnerships.
nothing is perfect, but indonesia is advancing... no need to be pessimistic as described above
Hope better planing for next phase. Jakarta metro area more than 30m population with this railway will help people connectivity. i will try this HSR next month and maybe sold my car. i can't with the traffic.
Congrats to China and Indonesia.
My administration is focused on space missions to the moon and wants to request the transfer of toilet technology to the US. 😢

Lagi dibangun bro.
SEA needs to have high speed railway too and interconnect one and another!

China, India and Indonesia are the real king pin in their regional power. I think they should join together as a big player squad and MAKE ASIA GREAT AGAIN..

A new standard to our world
Unfortunately Malaysia cancelled HSR to be connected from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, why?
China is building railway system everywhere. Why no one ask India to build?
india is busy with its CGI moon landing
Wsfc Mumbai Ahmedabad bullet train project
Cz last time they still had massive train accident haha
Meanwhile China claiming Indonesian territory
they don't want people to be riding on the roof top of the train :c
Is the US gonna tear down the train to see got any western tech inside the train wheels or not?
Nice
Absolutly agree if this HSR extend to Surabaya.
ASEAN region needs more Investments in Hispeed Rail Networks.
Fast trains would not be necessary if the plane flight network were cheaper

Indonesian artist should customized the paintings on each train, make them more lively and pretty.
how many hsr has Japan built in recent years comparing with 44000 km China has built? Japan has lost the capabilities. their skilled workers and engineers have retired. they mostly just maintain the hsr in Japan .
also they don't want to share their technology to others that will make them easy lost to any bids for country who hungry about for the technology of HSR except India because they have sentiments to china
@@sangperebah5649It will take India 10 years to complete 500 km HSR. How long will it take to build 42,000 km as China have today. Because of elections, the Indian government can't afford to become unpopular due to land acquisition. The biggest enemy of India is the democracy they inherited from Britain - not China.
Japan will initially export 10 trains to India. India will then use this technology to manufacture trains.
Japan conducts durability tests on various types of trolleys using durability testing equipment at speeds of 500km/h. After completing the durability test, we will build a 400km/h vehicle and test drive it.
There are only a limited number of areas in Japan where it is possible to drive at 400 km/h, so it may be exported. The train's inclination when turning a curve may also be around 6 degrees.
Japan achieves the world's best quietness. China's HSR cannot meet European regulations due to noise.

Hasn't it launched last year?
We have been hearing how India will over take China since the start of 1990's.

that's better than the cooperation between India and Japan, how many km have they built? 50km?
Mantap
They got plans with connection to some countries what connect to.
Congratulations Indonesia on your achievement, and wise country leader.
Wonderful
The chinese have got the tech but also the experience do make a huge difference too so costs comes down and the time to complete the project on time, so if you let the british do it for you the costs will go over budget and the project might never finish like uk's hs2.
The Japanese have lost the skills
Isn't it better to improve railway infrastructure in other island? Especially at sumatra where quality of normal roads still worse than java island. Reducing effectiveness of logistic between region. "Indonesia tidak hanya di jawa"
But... most of the business is in java island. Hence you see lot of office building here. Its only make sense if they build HSR in java. But hey, at least we took a baby step. One at a time.
Indonesian govt is at the point of no return. the existing Jakarta-Bandung line is way too short (150 km approx.) with plenty of mode of transportation available, combined with a rather expensive ticket of the said HSR, and the fact that the HSR's terminus stations are located far from the city center of jakarta and bandung all add to the malady of the HSR project to attract more passengers.
Should the line is not continued to Surabaya (500km east of the capital), it will bleed PT KAI's (State-Owned Enterprise of Indonesian railways company, the lead of the consortium and the only provider of railway services in Indonesia) finance flow. Continuing the line to Surabaya will require China's assistance again, but this time Indonesia's bargaining position is low and China may offer higher interest rate. Thus, Indonesia gradually falls into debt trap.
I think once the Trans Sumatra Toll Road is completed the expansion of the railway will began
PRIORITY = TRANS SUMATRA TOLL ROAD FINISHED 100%!! BE PATIENT!!
Ibu kota aja mau d pindah.
