While the price of ticket is higher than other trains, Vande Bharat is usually a complete sellout in most of its routes, especially the Chair Class. This is because there's an increasing middle class population in India, who prefer faster more comfortable rides. And either way, its way more cheaper than Airfare and at par with AC Busfares. Although I agree the food in VB needs major improvement, in terms of standardised quality and taste of meals.

Indians should be very proud of their Vande Bharat Express. These locally-built rakes are the fastest trains in the country and will significantly reduce journey time with investments to its infrastructure. The modernisation of Indian Railways is just the beginning... 🚆 Despite this, they need to improve its customer service. I don't know why their breakfast service is multi-fold longer than a conventional service in any long-distance in other countries. 😕
Dude in india the problem was never with the trains but rather with India's century old railway tracks. Now india is stuck in such critical condition that neither it can install an entire modern generation railway lines by removing the old tracks nor a train can continue to run on this old tracks with it's full speed for longer time. Thus india is building corridors like rrtc or freight corridors.
Fun fact :- before the train named vande bharat. It was known as "train 18", for being completely manufactured in 18 months. Now vande bharat is going to have a sleeper set ready. With non-ac(aka the one with open windows) launching in few months. And AC sleeper set in july or august next year.
Indian trains have improved and how. First time I travelled in an Indian train was when I was a kid, trains were not known for punctuality then so it was late by 5hrs and it was short journey of 170km and it took about 5hrs. That same route I have taken countless time as a kid. My parents were poor, so that train was our life line to visit relatives as time was not important but economics of travel was critical. It took us less than 100R (for 3 tickets) for the journey. Train was packed in general compartment but was happy as I got seat right away as I was kid, so someone got up and gave seat to mum and me. I always loved train. I havent travelled by train for almost 2 decades now, but went recently by train and was pleasantly surprised as train was punctual (well late by 43min) but journey was clean, fast (compared to my memory) and on time. We have great expectation from Indian railway and I hope we get faster trains soon.
About the improvement in punctuality, that is thanks to improvements in the tracks and in signalling. And it is still a work in progress. By the end of it, I suspect most trains will be dot on time. Major upgrades planned in coming years include a complete switch of Route Relay Interlocking system from electromechanical relays to solid-state electronic relays, tripling and quadrupling of tracks on trunk routes and doubling of most other tracks, relaying of curves and strengthening of bridges to remove temporary speed restrictions, etc.
@@mdhazeldine Speaking of perspective:- Swiss have a 5000 km of rail tracks of various gauges. That is the amount of broad gauge tracks Indian Railways lays in one year. Total length of Indian Railway tracks is 125,000 km. Swiss have around 5200 wagons in their total rolling stock inventory. India produces 6000 broad gauge LHB passenger wagons every year. Not even counting metro rolling stock production or other cargo wagons, etc. Total passenger-km (in Billions):- Swiss: 21.70 India: 1157.00 It is impressive that the Swiss have 100% electric railways. But not nearly as impressive when Indian Railways also makes the same claim because of the sheer difference in scale. Perspective is indeed very important. Tiny networks can easily change their situation within a few years. Massive networks like India's take investment of tens of Billions per year over subsequent decades to bring that kind of change in.
Bro air India sucks when I flew business class it was horrible barely any inflight entertainment and yeah I flew from Delhi to sax now I always fly emirates buisness
In a democracy like India where nobody is satisfied and feel jealous of other's success, this is a huge achievement. Even in democracy you can never keep all people happy, but India still tries to do that.
I agree with you, the complimentary breakfast should not have taken so long. May be it happened on this train route. I have travelled between Howrah and Puri in Odisha where complimentary breakfast was served within 20 minutes of starting of the train. Serving of food depends largely on the traditions of the area where these trains operate.
Howrah-Puri vande Bharat food service is very good. I saw the review in a Train journey vlog channel, who previously criticized the food of Howrah-Patna OR Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat train service . IRCTC is not consistent with its food services across all Vande Bharat
It was served in 20min in the video too it's just they started early and slowly but cleanly delivered he says they started 5min after boarding and took 15min to serve all of the things so ya not bad if you can't control yourself after looking at the food and get impatient than that's your problem they served the dry stuf First and hot stuf later so no decrease in taste either . They have to server a lot of people

India should take pride in their own built new train and I think there will be pent up demand for such trains. It is not terribly fast, but better than what is the norm.
Yes I agree. But the huge network of 67000+ kms can't be upgraded to high-speed, it requires huge capital. Btw some major routes are being upgraded & orders for around 400 train sets are placed which are of sleeper version.
During the trials the trains reached speeds of 180+ kmph and have potential to reach 240 kmph max bud due to our shit tracks, it's not happening, even maintaining 130 kmph speed constantly is a big surprise. But I belive tracks will improve definately.
@@Artivule They can work on certain sections like Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Katra, Delhi-Amritsar, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Howrah, Banglore-Chennai, and other routes. If they suceed to do that then they can earn more as of now people don't like to travel in trains because of speed and poor Infrastructure.
Vande Bharath express is never claimed to be a high speed train it is a semi-high speed train with a recorded top speed of 180 kmph but it’s only permissible to 160 kmph and below because of the old tracks that haven’t been upgraded yet.
180 kmph is 112 mph, so it really isn't high-speed. But it beats most the trains we have in the US, so I am impressed. I am pleased to see India progressing now, and hope they don't try to emulate China. The world needs a large democracy that modernizes with all their citizens included, not just the 7% elite party members like in communist China.
This video has made me so emotional😌. Hailing from Bengaluru, this is a route that I had travelled innumerable times in my life with all the possible service combinations - except this one (Vande Bharat is in my list though). During my first job in Chennai, we used to travel every weekend home to Bengaluru. I remember a discussion with my friend wishing we had bullet trains that would make this journey in a couple of hours so that we can travel everyday back and forth and the infrastructure/legal problems India has to overcome to have such a train service. Now - 10 years later - we have this. The day is not so far away when we will have the equivalent of Shinkansens.
The orange / saffron colored dessert along the food is called - Kesar bat. .Kesari bat or kesari baat is a sweet Indian food that is common throughout the country. The classic ingredients used for its preparation are semolina, sugar, ghee, water, and milk. The sweet is more commonly known as Jonnadula Halwa in certain parts of northern India
It looks pretty good. Way better than other types of Indian communal trains I've seen, and it's locally made! In Indonesia, we also make our own trains and light trains. The average train speed is also around 120 km/hour. Unfortunately, we are an island nation that is not yet connected for rail transportation between the main islands.
But you guys have Chinese Bullet Trains.. that's great having a bullet train but not Chinese. As you mentioned you're an island nation and you need faster trains... explore and ask your government to make a deal to buy Indian Vande Bharat and Indian RRTS Modern Trains. 🎉
Love this. Proud to see a westerner's perspective of indian train journey. Also brings more pride to know that these trains are made @ Chennai. Way much valuable compared to those here in UK. Great food by the way. Typical south indian. Looking forward to travel in one of these.

Have you ever travelled on the LNER in England. I did on first class. The seats were excruciatingly uncomfortable, the staff were rude and the food service just abysmal. I have also travelled on trains in Japan and they were just incredible. Hopefully Indian Railways will get better and since government run entities are generally poorly run, it may be an idea to partially privatize it by listing it on the stock exchange. That may be a way of establishing some accountability without which the trains and the service will deteriorate within a few years.
India has already worked on this, some of the parts of railways are already run by private companies for example: ticketing and food services are already privatized. Rolling stock maintenance is usually in the contract when the government purchases them.

Nice vid! Good job with a proper review. The step-wise service of food-delivery is perhaps designed to help passengers occupied. Also, if everything comes at the table at once, passengers will require a large table. Providing such spacious dining space would only be in the realm of luxury trains. Also, it makes perfect sense to serve tea at arrival. Then a soup before the meal. Then the main course and the rest. I think the delivery is very well thought ought if you subscribe into the idea of not overwhelming the passenger as well as keep everything streamlined, as well as make it an experience. If all that meal is thrown at me at one go, I would be totally overwhelmed not knowing what to open first, in what order to eat or drink the stuff, not to mention the limited space. So, good idea serving in steps, IMPHO.

Indians should be very proud of their Vande Bharat Express. These locally-built rakes are the fastest trains in the country and will significantly reduce journey time with investments to its infrastructure. The modernisation of Indian Railways is just the beginning... 🚆
Despite this, they need to improve its customer service. I don't know why their breakfast service is multi-fold longer than a conventional service in any long-distance in other countries. 😕
Thats because they serve in stages, tea first, then light breakfast, then lunch
This is a bit unusual, but I agree there is a wide scope for improvement in train services. This should be top class airlines style.

As each route is double tracked, punctuality will improve
That's hilarious that 43 minutes late is "punctual" to you. The Swiss would have a fit :D I guess it's all about perspective though. haha
@@mdhazeldine From hrs it is minutes now. So thats progress!! Also train reached destination on time.
@@mdhazeldine Speaking of perspective:-
Swiss have a 5000 km of rail tracks of various gauges.
Total passenger-km (in Billions):-
Swiss: 21.70
India: 1157.00
It is impressive that the Swiss have 100% electric railways.

They have to server a lot of people
less food less stress for your stomatch
The train starts at 5.30 AM , most people don't prefer breakfast so early so they started little late.

Well i am extremely glad that e this reveiw is completely unbiased. As someone who has travelled on these trains on the same route i also have some issues but over-all it was amazing.😊
The meal service in Indian railways is as follows: 6 am: Tea/coffee & biscuit. Breakfast is normally served around 8 am. Starting with Corn flakes (only in EC / First class) followed by vegetarian option (which you were served consisting of Pongal, Dosai with Sambhar & chutneys, a sweet (called halwa) & tea/coffee. The juice is an alternative with the cookie. This may be strange for foreigners like you in India but NORMAL for us in India. Great video .
14:54 small corrections bro.
If you check the ticket in Vande Bharath express it always been waiting list. People can afford this train.
hes a westerner he wont directly aoppreciate the train or service no matter how much is given to him west will be racist towards india forever
@@theanimarium9612yes people are racist towards us but it's just karma that indians have been and are racist towards low caste and Muslims so yeah we are getting what we deserve
If everything is on the waiting list who has got the confirmed tickets bro ?
I really enjoyed the video , i think it looks really good 😊.
Sorry to disappoint brother but the top commercial speed of vande Bharat Express is similar to a non ac sleeper train (130 kmph). It's just a modern looking train. But hopefully you've enjoyed your trip ❤
Do you have some inferiority complex?
Wasn't it 160kph?
It is not expensive (as a citizen of india) for this price this train is great
Don't take internet seriously, it's not a high speed train by any metrics.
India is going through a rapid infrastructure transformation. You'll have excellent changes in next few years.
