I was a lonely kid most part of my childhood. I'm turning 31 now. When I was 5, 6 or 7 we did not have all these videogames and laptops and PC's. But I remember the day my grandfather gave me a green gameboy (the first model) with a red tape, the charizards one. I guess being so young and lonely made me travel into that world. I was a player and adventurer, travelling through cities and caves, capturing monsters. Pure nostalgia.

32 from Texas. Pokémon Red was one of the only things I had in common with the other kids at school. Probably the only reason I made any friends at all. That and Yu-Gi-Oh once that started picking up steam a bit later. It’s weird hearing this soundscape again in my 30s. The world around us changed so much. It seemed to last so long, all the adventures I had in those worlds, larger than life. Yet now, it feels so distant. Like an old cassette tape that pops and skips but keeps on playing.
It did seem to last forever then, now everything seems gone in an instant. It’s tough (nearly impossible imo) to tap back into a truly peaceful state of no worry and pure bliss which occurred for me when I played these games. I’d say Hoenn is probably my favorite region. Something about these tunes you can just feel inside. It cannot be replicated or felt quite the same again as each first playthrough.
Pokemon Emerald will forever be my favorite Pokemon game, and the all time best Pokemon game in the franchise. Nothing will ever change my opinion on that!
I agree, generation 3 was and is still my all time favorite. Fantastic music, incredible art direction, perfect balance of brief tutorials and story beats without getting in the way of gameplay.

My parents used to hate the noise from our gameboys in the car so I always just muted it by default to not have to deal with having to remember to turn it down when they were near. I played Pokémon endlessly and didn’t know each game had different music and noise effects for almost a decade until I went back and replayed them in my first apartment. It wasn’t until my roommate asked what gen had my favorite music and I didn’t know what he was talking about.
@@cs5250 To be honest: It just wasn't a big deal to us at the time. I was a kid so I was just happy to be playing the game lol I'm sure if I had asked they'd have gotten them for me, just didn't think to. I also eventually got an ipod and just used their headphones to listen to my music, at that point I didn't have any nostalgia about the soundtrack since I just never really listened to it.
i was 11 yrs old when i played pkm emerald for the first time. i will never forget how i instantly fell in love with treecko, how i didn't wanted to leave fortree city, how it took me hours to find sootopolis city, how extremely beautiful ever grande city was, the amazing feeling after beating the league, catching rayquaza and how i found latias a year later, in route 119, completlely out of nowhere and i just couldn't believe it. what an amazing game and an amazing generation.
the title itself is nostalgic. still remember the days when i was in elementary school playing my friend's gba after school. good old days. I'm 29 now.
I didn't start with Gen 3, but somehow, this is the most nostalgic generation next to Gen 2. The music in this game is extremely memorable to the point where, in your head, you can see the things you were doing in the game when this music played, and the region itself was such a new and exciting world. Miss those days as a kid.
Playing pokemon Ruby at my dads place while it was raining outside is literally one of my best childhood memories so already bc of the title I gave this vid a like. Thank you.
I still remember the moment in 2003 when my father bought me pokemon ruby and he got into the car with the game in his hands. I also remember that I played it all night until I got my first badge. What an adventure since then, certainly one of my best childhood memories.
Same ! They gave it to me and I played the whole way home, then went to my room, then deep into the night. I'd play under the covers with a cardboard pipe to breathe
Hoenn music always helps me calm down after a panic attack or just from stress in general. It's like being a kid again, especially hearing the surfing theme. Spent many hours just exploring the sea so that song holds a special place in my heart.
I legitimately cried a lot this because of the nostalgia. I remember a day my parents were stuck outside for a while at night and it was raining hard and i was a kid and alone at home, just playing pokemon emerald, coincidence that i was at fortree city too at that time.
Growing up, I didn't have a lot of friends. It never bothered me because I had this bestfriend. We used to play Pokemon FireRed and used to tell each other our progress at school. It was really fun. I would catch a rare pokemon and tell him about it next day at School. In a couple months, its going to be 3 years since his passing. I really miss him and hope he's in a better place.
I didn;t have the chance to play pokemon in my youth since we couldn't afford to buy the consoles. I only played Emerald on my Gameboy Advanced and I didn't even understand how to play the game. About 1 year ago I decided to try and play one game from every generation on mobile emulators (currently I am playing Pokemon Moon in Citra PC). This was the best decision I have made in my life since I got to live a part of my childhood that I didn't get to experience. I play to finish the game and each one of my pokemon team from every generation holds a special place in my heart. I am looking forward to getting a switch so I can collect a lot of pokemon in the latest games, and I am proud to call my pokemon "family" and these games will forever be my home.
Go on, boy. POKéMON family are here to support you. I've been playing my entire life and I still do when I have the time or energy (f*ck the adult life and responsibilities).
I remember my first Pokemon game was sapphire, I was like 8 when I stole it from my sisters then boyfriend and he thought he had lost it. im sorry bro wherever you are, but that was the best thing I had done as a kid. Coming back to this fills my eyes with tears...
Pokémon Ruby was my very first, and it was my first great video game love. I sadly never got to finish it because my cartridge corrupted (old copy handed down from my sister), but I still have so many fond memories of this game and its soundtrack. So many rainy days were spent curled up in a blanket just playing this game. So many hours were spent caring for my team. Though they never made it to my Pokémon Home, I'll never forget them, or the memories we made together.
Ahhh making secret bases in rhe rain ❤️. What a wonderful feeling to have cone fleeting back. A reminder that there are things you haven't discovered yet, that may make you feel this way. Just continue to live, so that you may find them 💪🏾🫶🏾
I had the pleasure of listening to this for the first time today while doing some paperwork at work. Thank you so much for this wonderful compilation. The Hoenn games have long been my favorites in Pokémon, and it was great to take a brief stroll back for just a little while. God be with you out there, everybody. ✝️ :)
The impossible hunt for Feebas (Barschwa in German) to have a Milotic on Route 119. Hahahaha... those were the fun times during my childhood. It's funny, that I am still looking up such things online even though Nintendo ruined the games for me long time ago. Thanks for the gem!
Omega Ruby was my nostalgia I know it’s not the same as the originals (I’ve also played a fake Ruby and legit Emerald that my uncle had) and I will agree that the original soundtrack is more nostalgic, but Omega Ruby still gives me a flood of nostalgic memories , playing an old 2013 game on my 3DS. It just reminds me of simple times. Now I’m going to high school and it just feels like the world is changing so fast. I wish I could go back, maybe just one day. I didn’t know I was making memories, I was just having fun
Pure nostalgia! It takes me back to the days of coming home from school and turning the game on and playing for the rest of the day! Those were some of the best times of my life.
27 Marine, listening to pokémon and remembering how my lonely little self wanted to go out into the world from his little farm town so I can meet other pokémon trainers. I had ran around while playing pokémon everyday out there. I moved to new states but never cared about my surroundings. I delved into the world of pokémon. That's where my friends were. I was familiar with it. I loved it. I wish I could go back there
I've been actively trying to reconnect with my inner child recently through Pokémon. I used to love the games so much, and I was kind of worried I let the pressures and stresses of life take me over, I had nearly forgotten what I even liked about the franchise. I started to convince myself that I was just a dopamine chasing kid, and would have been swept up by any other video game series if it had gotten to me before Pokémon. I played the video, and upon hearing the first tone, I immediately felt myself begin to cry, and just let it happen. ...Whitney was so on point, nothing beats a good cry
I wish. The graphical transition to 3D from 2D sprites was in my opinion the single biggest mistake the franchise ever did. Worse than introducing temporary, generation-long gimmicks or any other mistake GameFreak did. There's so, so much more soul to the pixelated, low-res sprites of gens 1-5 than what the 3D sprites that came after could ever hope to capture. 5th Gen spritework is amazing, but I didn't like the way they were animated, so my favorites are those of 4th and 3rd gen. It's amazing what they were able to convey in 3rd gen by using sprites no larger than 80 by 80 pixels, with 14-15 different colors. And since the sprites didn't move, they had to convey the feel of each monster with a static pose, so they did their best to make them feel dynamic despite being still all the time. It just hits different, seeing a carefully crafted pixel sprite. Ironically, the 3D models move constantly, but feel much more static due to their lifeless animations. Most often those animations are just a 3D version of what I disliked about the movement of the (otherwise great) Gen 5 animations; They're just static parts moving independent of each other, creating the illusion of being truly animated. Similarly, the very limited audio chip of GBA forced the composers to be very creative in order to get everything out of the system, and the result is a surprisingly coherent and memorable OST that genuinely sticks with you. Just the diving theme in Gen 3 alone is better than almost anything that came after gen 4. I've always said, and always will: Limitation breeds creativity. Whether it's the limitation of a small pixel count or that of a weaker sound chip, it gets results because it forces the creator to find a way to portray a grander vision with lesser resources. And when they do, the end result is always spectacular.
GBA was my first console, and Ruby was the sole game my parents bought with it. One each for me and my older brother; he picked Sapphire. It was my birthday in 2003, only a few months after the NA release... Would that we could all go back.
gen 3/hoenn seriously was a magical experience. still keep playing it over and over again. the graphics were so beautiful, the music was phenomenal, the mons awesome..... I miss the old days where pokemongames were charming instead of having upgraded 3d graphics but lack the stories and keep lagging and bugging all the time. we sure had some nice adventures back when there were no cursed smartphones and social media. thx for this sweet nostalgia-trip
i- my heart. i started play ruby when i was first diagnosed with diabetes as a kid. i had just turned nine in the hospital and i was playing this game. it became one of my favorite games and this brought back so many happy memories. where has the time gone?
I’m 29 too! I started playing Ruby shortly after my parents got a divorce. I was around 8 or 9 as well and then I was diagnosed with cancer. This world was my safe space.
Pokemon silver was my first game, but the fondest memories are with Sapphire. We moved a lot within the same town and I always cut the time that we lived in the different apartments into stages of life. I think ages 8-10 were my favorite years and we lived in my favorite apartment and that's where I always played Pokèmon Sapphire.
For a long time my parents couldnt afford my brother and myself a game boy. A friend from school let us borrow his on condition we dont save any games to prevent loss of his own progress. My brother and i had it plugged on a charger, never turned it off for 24 hours, switching turns playing and the other one watching at the dinner table. We made it till the 3rd gym and then had to return it. 2 years later or so i got the game boy color for my birthday with pokemon gold. Amazing memories, filling up with tears again writing this
This feeling will always live on. Everything dies twice; when it physically dies, and again the last time someone talks about it. As long as we make this world live on, it will always be here with us 🔥💯
I used to pretend sick just to play Pokemon and grind for a lot of hours. How I miss my childhood, but glad to experience playing this types of games when I was a little.
Gen 5 will always be my favourite but gen 3 was the entry point into the pokemon world and, honestly, even tho I'm not sad about the past but rather very happy because it happened, I won't change my mind about aging being such a horrible thing when we start thinking about the good times and the nostalgia that, for example, these songs make us feel.
My parents took my DS when they grounded me. But they never knew that my friend had given me his gameboy so that I could play pokemon emerald. I felt like such a mischievous villain playing the game under the covers at 11:00 at night making sure to keep the volume low and periodically peeking my head out to make sure my parents weren't walking around.
Everytime I hear the Littleroot theme, it's like my mind is transported to a moment when I was 12 years old at my nan's house. My mum and nan are chatting away and I'm sitting on the sofa with my gameboy advance. Everything is so vivid in my mind, nostalgia is a hell of a thing 😢
That filter is pretty much perfect. If you played this on a GBA SP, you could see those little pixels when the screen was fully lit up. Very nice touch.
i'm 26 and my son will soon be 6 and he's also a big fan of pokemon and plays it on his switch. Seeing old pokemon games makes me kind of sad about how fast time flies...
This was my favorite region. I can't tell you how hard this brings me back to middle school years and playing with my friends. I remember always picking water starters throughout the series but loving mudkips so much.
I played couple of pokemon games but i spent more hours on this pokemon game the sapphire version i even had a friend who had the gamecube and the pokemon game to attatch jirachi and unlimited rare candies. i had emerald but i got it stolen my supposedly friends stole it from me i guess they were hating on me getting something so cool 😢 Good luck everyone out there in life!
Pokemon Emerald is getting the Pokemon Crystal Legacy and Pokemon Yellow Legacy treatment :D If you haven't heard of those two titles, they're improvement patches that makes the games as good as it can possibly be while keeping the spirit and identity of the games intact.
i think on this exact spot my team wiped out for the first time ever. My strongest Pokémon Exploud was poisoned and i had nothing i could do about it so i kept on going in hope that there would be a town nearby not knowing any of the map. Amazing.
Grew up with Red and Sapphire on my Gameboy Advance purple, and have closely followed the series my whole life. I adore Pokemon and these memories, the countless hours I've spent immersed in the world and community has meant so much.

I played Pokémon endlessly and didn’t know each game had different music and noise effects for almost a decade until I went back and replayed them in my first apartment. It wasn’t until my roommate asked what gen had my favorite music and I didn’t know what he was talking about.
Why didn’t they buy you headphones?
"Gameboys" @@cs5250
@@cs5250 To be honest: It just wasn't a big deal to us at the time. I was a kid so I was just happy to be playing the game lol I'm sure if I had asked they'd have gotten them for me, just didn't think to. I also eventually got an ipod and just used their headphones to listen to my music, at that point I didn't have any nostalgia about the soundtrack since I just never really listened to it.
I am with you on that. Used to play with no sound for over a decade. Now it's like a whole new world.
That REALLY sucks lol. Half the nostalgia of Pokemon is the music.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
No you are crying. I´m not crying.
You're right.

42:50 surprise cameo from my boy ❤
Haha I actually completely forgot I added that mudkip until this comment 😂😂😂
i was 11 yrs old when i played pkm emerald for the first time. i will never forget how i instantly fell in love with treecko, how i didn't wanted to leave fortree city, how it took me hours to find sootopolis city, how extremely beautiful ever grande city was, the amazing feeling after beating the league, catching rayquaza and how i found latias a year later, in route 119, completlely out of nowhere and i just couldn't believe it. what an amazing game and an amazing generation.
the title itself is nostalgic. still remember the days when i was in elementary school playing my friend's gba after school. good old days. I'm 29 now.
I didn't start with Gen 3, but somehow, this is the most nostalgic generation next to Gen 2. The music in this game is extremely memorable to the point where, in your head, you can see the things you were doing in the game when this music played, and the region itself was such a new and exciting world. Miss those days as a kid.
me hiding under the covers with my SP playing Emerald while my parents scream at each other in the background, so nostalgic
Mauville/Mossdeep is BURNED into my brain for the rest of time. Amazing.
Nothing like that first magical experience of diving
If I could go back, relive those years over and over again forever, I’d do it in a heartbeat
I still have my original Sceptile and a few others, over 20 years later.
This music brings me back to a better more simple time. Cheers to all the adults (and anyone else really) who still enjoy Pokemon!
emerald all theme music with the rain, who ever made this you are the best❤
Reading all these comments. All in the feels, bro
Omega Ruby was my nostalgia
I know it’s not the same as the originals (I’ve also played a fake Ruby and legit Emerald that my uncle had) and I will agree that the original soundtrack is more nostalgic, but Omega Ruby still gives me a flood of nostalgic memories , playing an old 2013 game on my 3DS.
I loved it. I wish I could go back there
So did you catch them all

Mauville+mossdeep will forever be my favorite song in any game ever
I've been actively trying to reconnect with my inner child recently through Pokémon. I used to love the games so much, and I was kind of worried I let the pressures and stresses of life take me over, I had nearly forgotten what I even liked about the franchise. I started to convince myself that I was just a dopamine chasing kid, and would have been swept up by any other video game series if it had gotten to me before Pokémon.
I played the video, and upon hearing the first tone, I immediately felt myself begin to cry, and just let it happen. ...Whitney was so on point, nothing beats a good cry
makes me feel some type of way. very melancholic but a little comforted
This unlocked some core memories
If I weren’t trying to find something to watch while I’m going to sleep, I would let this play on repeat 🥲
What I wouldn’t give to get an official sprite-based sequel to these games.
The routes with rain was such a big achievement to have finally reached after getting surf, thanks for the memories 🙏
I didn't grow up on this one but it has always had a special place in my heart from a musical standpoint
Playing this in the background throughout the day is like having a time machine 🥲
i- my heart. i started play ruby when i was first diagnosed with diabetes as a kid. i had just turned nine in the hospital and i was playing this game. it became one of my favorite games and this brought back so many happy memories. where has the time gone?
I hope you are okay and doing well. I'll be 29 this June. Are you also 95 born?
Lol diabetes noob
I’m 29 too! I started playing Ruby shortly after my parents got a divorce. I was around 8 or 9 as well and then I was diagnosed with cancer. This world was my safe space.
I started playing Sapphire when I was first diagnosed with ligma as a kid
Amazing memories, filling up with tears again writing this
再也回不到拿着gameboy无忧无虑的少年时光了 每次经过这个镇子的时候都想多留一会
Thank you. I never realised how much connection to this silly music and games I have.
Pokemon emerald. The sound track, map. Gym leaders, pokemon, all the best and happiest time of my life. So simple man
This is possibly the most nostalgic I’ve ever felt , so many late lonely nights & car rides in the back seat
Pokemon Emerald was my first Pokemon game (eventually also played Sapphire)--this soundtrack just feels so soothing to listen to.
I’m in on the downswing from a depressive episode…this is comforting.
Excellent rain effect. It'd go great with Star Fox Adventures and Super Metroid.
The time when Hoenn ruled my World and didn't have all that technological stuff was the best time I had❤️✌️
R/S/E and D/P/P eras were the peak of so many childhoods. Pure lightning in a bottle.
Everytime I hear the Littleroot theme, it's like my mind is transported to a moment when I was 12 years old at my nan's house. My mum and nan are chatting away and I'm sitting on the sofa with my gameboy advance. Everything is so vivid in my mind, nostalgia is a hell of a thing 😢
idk what this feeling is but it hurts in a nice way, like a spiky hug
Nostalgia. Its a great and awful feeling.
That filter is pretty much perfect. If you played this on a GBA SP, you could see those little pixels when the screen was fully lit up. Very nice touch.
One of my happiest memories from childhood is playing Pokemon Crystal during a rainy day.
i'm 26 and my son will soon be 6 and he's also a big fan of pokemon and plays it on his switch. Seeing old pokemon games makes me kind of sad about how fast time flies...
This was my favorite region. I can't tell you how hard this brings me back to middle school years and playing with my friends. I remember always picking water starters throughout the series but loving mudkips so much.
Ah childhood. If only I knew how good I had it back then! I'd cherish every single second.
I played couple of pokemon games but i spent more hours on this pokemon game the sapphire version i even had a friend who had the gamecube and the pokemon game to attatch jirachi and unlimited rare candies. i had emerald but i got it stolen my supposedly friends stole it from me i guess they were hating on me getting something so cool 😢
Good luck everyone out there in life!
pokemon Sapphire version will forever be my favorite pokemon game, and Generations 1-3 will always be special to me.
This is perfect. Will be listening while I'm at work. Thanks!
Can't believe i shed tears as soon as the music started. Tears of joy obviously.
Im 24 in Uni, listening and playing Emerald on my GBA, love the nostalgia.
Pokemon Emerald is getting the Pokemon Crystal Legacy and Pokemon Yellow Legacy treatment :D If you haven't heard of those two titles, they're improvement patches that makes the games as good as it can possibly be while keeping the spirit and identity of the games intact.
literally two seconds into the video and full body chills
I started playing Pokémon since Gen 1 but Gen 3 has my heart. I think I played it the most 😂🥹
i think on this exact spot my team wiped out for the first time ever. My strongest Pokémon Exploud was poisoned and i had nothing i could do about it so i kept on going in hope that there would be a town nearby not knowing any of the map. Amazing.
sootopolis city is one of my favorite themes, including the dive theme sooo pretty n relaxing.
You don't know how much this means to so many people
Grew up with Red and Sapphire on my Gameboy Advance purple, and have closely followed the series my whole life. I adore Pokemon and these memories, the countless hours I've spent immersed in the world and community has meant so much.
