Don’t remember Hal for not having a house or a job or that car he has is probably co-signed by Carol. Remember him for the planes he flew. Also the reason he has nothing is because he just doesn’t have the will to, because he doesn’t even know what will is.
It has some good stories but overall it doesn't seem that great. That's only my opinion. I'm kind of hoping the comics will pick up or get more interesting.
I'm reading Action Comics which is pretty good (Power Girl!) but Green Arrow seems like it might actually have some promise of a great story! And the John Kent story is crazy how they've tied it back to the Injustice universe.
Dawn of DC is getting me back into buying DC comics I've only bought Superman so far the first three issues but I love it but I'm a big DC fan but I quit buying because of social justice left-wing stuff being shoved down my throat but I'm trying to get back into it you're awesome Sasha You're also beautiful if I wasn't with the girl in my dreams you'd be my dream girl

I'm pretty sure that's Merlyn, not The Spider, in the Green Arrow image. Oh, and to add something to the conversation, I've read almost all of Dawn of DC and I have been loving it. Superman has been a real standout due to it's grand sweeping tone, but I also really enjoy the tone Waid/Mora bring to Shazam. Green Arrow also gave me the warm fuzzies with the family moments.
For Green Arrow, I like that we finally get to see Lian Harper reconciling with her dad and for her to meet the fraction of the Green Arrow Family after so many years. I hope that we get to see the entire Green Arrow Family interacting with each other very soon. I also hope that this series will expand as ongoing because of popular demand. Also, Linkara of AT4W is going to have a field day with this because Lian remembering her entire history (including the Green Arrow Family and interacting with Roy Harper Arsenal).
Right Lewis is going to be very happy about this. Too bad he doesn't talk about recent comics. This is what I come to this channel for. It fills a void. I'm glad Roy got his daughter back though I wish they could've kept her a kid she was adorable.
As someone who reads trades from the library, I like having a good six months to a year to figure out which comics I'd like to get into. Less risk of spending money on something that completely bounces off of me. Especially with how expensive single issues are getting. Right now I'm reading 70s/80s The Vision and Scarlet Witch so the complete opposite end of the spectrum but when it's collected the new Superman looks up my alley.
For batman brave and bold, I hope they use it as an opertunity to put a spotlight on lesser popular heroes like the cartoon. it introduced me to characters like kamandi, red tornado, guy garner, animal man, and even blue beatle!
I've read most of the Dawn of DC titles so far and I'm really liking it. I like how it feels like we've bounced all the way back from the days of "dark, gritty and streamlined continuity" and now we're just embracing all of the fun and hope that superheroes have to offer.
For Superman, I prefer the pre-Crisis version on how Lex Luthor moved from Smallville, Delaware to Metropolis, Delaware (with him building LexCorp with Superman’s help in 1986, or 25 years before Dawn of DC, referencing the Man of Steel miniseries). Also, Silver Banshee being Jimmy Olsen’s latest love interest is the Jimmy Olsen Silver Age stuff I’ve seen. I thought that it’s Marylin Moonlight being Jimmy Olsen’s love interest because of the Jimmy Olsen luck. Either way, good for him and Silver Banshee finding each other.

Excellent video! It's my feeling that DC is slowly, agonizingly slowly, building happiness and excitement with Dawn of DC. It doesn't get the big rush of n52, Rebirth, or even Infinite Frontier, but it's dropping solid titles that people are mostly liking. A few duds, like Leah Williams on Power Girl, but mostly interesting and exciting. You should tweet Jeremy Adams to see if he can get Hal to trip - I'm sure he would do it! :)

For Shazam, I like that we get to see Billy Batson Captain Marvel’s (or the Marvelous Captain’s) original pre-Crisis suit and the mention of pre-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Junior. Let’s hope that this series will restore and mention the Marvel Family’s pre-Crisis and pre-Flashpoint history and continuity from Captain Marvel’s introduction in December 1939 all the way up to the present. Also, the mentioning of Mark Waid and Dan Mora, Sunny and Rowdy Sparkle (from the ‘70s Shazam series), Whitey Murphy and Cissie Sommerly (from Fawcett Comics), and Victor Khusaf (from the Power of Shazam series).
As for what's happening with Lian Harper, Ram V picked up her storyline in the pages of his "Detective Comics" run, where she is currently on the run from the Orghams' Azmers with Solomon Grundy. My guess is that we are going to see her regain her memories since it is clear that "Green Arrow" #1 takes place after the events of "Detective Comics".
While I understand that many newer comic readers (which I generally consider NOT fans of comics, but more fans of… new characters, often because they are too scared to try and dive into comics the way old fans will, because admittedly, it is A LOT to process and read and buy) probably are more into things like Spirit World, which I do not intend to read, I think DC is finally realizing for the most part, that they need to get back to their bread and butter. The characters that made their universe popular for years, instead of just cranking new character after new character, often pushing those old, classic characters to the side to make way for the new characters they created, and often times hiring writers that do not seem to have the love for the old DC comics that many of the fans have, and instead wanted to make a name for themselves by creating new characters that fell flat with old readers for various reasons. This seems to be editorial being more aware of what fans want, by giving those characters that people really want to see their books back, and really focusing on them. Obviously we know there will just about always be Batman, Superman, and Flash, but Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern (with both Hal and John, and hopefully Guy and Kyle show up some soon as well, as those 4 are the “Corps” characters). But then books like Steel or Hawkgirl, which aren’t necessarily “fan-favorites”, but that are characters that could easily be built up more. Steel has a lot of potential to me personally, and Hawkgirl does too, and hopefully her book will bring back Hawkman as well, and have fun with some of their villains. Power Girl I think could be fun, but I don’t know how to feel about the mental powers thing, and then Fire and Ice could be fun too. And then we get Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, and Wesley Dodds, which was an unexpected surprise, but a welcome one! All-in-all, yes, very back-to-basics for the most part, but that is very much a good thing, and I am happy for it.

Not to put too fine a point on it but it's interesting to see Power Girl not written and drawn by men primarily for the male gaze because she has been subject to that to such an extreme in the past. The character has so much potential that has never been realized.
I am absolutely enjoying DoDC and am looking forward to adding more books. I was down to buying only one or two DC books a month before this. If things go well, I could be up to 7 or 8.
I’ve been reading about 70 to 80% of the new dawn of DC titles. I have to say I agree with your interpretation. Everything seems very back to basics and back to the familiar. Which, considering where the universe is now after dark crisis, a good thing. Titans have come out and I haven’t read that yet, same thing with wonder woman 799. Apparently 799 is supposed to set up for issue 800.
I haven't checked out the new Shazam comic, but what you've said about it has me smiling! I'm also a traditionalist who still calls him Captain Marvel, and love that he's back to a more classic version of the uniform! And yeah, the Captain is a decent compromise for now, with the hope that it's just a step in the right direction. I just may have to go buy this comic!

I’ve read every issue of dawn of dc and it’s the best initiative in years. Superman and Batman is peak. Love the series like cyborg and spirit world which are trying to give lesser spotlighted characters more attention.
I've come back too! Been a long time since I read DC but it started a year ago with Poison Ivy. Now look at my list! Green Arrow & Lantern, Superman:Lost, Shazam, Doom Patrol, Spirit World, The Vigil, City Boy, Stargirl mini, Titans, Peacemaker and a few more to come. This is very unusual for me but I'm enjoying them all for the most part. We'll see if they can keep it up.
This sums it up for me. GL #1 Hal Jordan is trying to get his job back at Ferris Industries while hitting on Carol like he was Guy Gardiner. We cut to him sitting in his trailer where he lives now and the OV reads "Now you're hiding out in your brother's old trailer wondering how you're going to survive with fifty bucks left in your checking account..." Uhm... you have a power ring. You use it to dig up a diamond the size of a baseball? You use it to find 50 kilos of gold or platinum? Bring back a dozen interesting meteors and sell them to a university? Offer to drive a Tesla to Mars for Elon? I mean, this is TV Barry Allen level brain dead! And it never really gets better. As for Kara Zor-L... maybe they need to speak Girl to Power.
Ive been loving Dawn of DC and, like you said, a lot of i think has to do with how much the writers seem to actually get their characters and understand why people like them. I also love the more casual good vibes theyve been having too and im fine if they get more serious later, but taking the time to reground them and have some fun i think will only make me more invested in anything that happens later in their stories. Also Im not too worried about Wally since they've been marketing his own comic right? But yeah Titans is one of the DoDC series that im not entirely sold on yet which is a shame because I'd love for there to be a series with these characters that i really like and care about. I'm just not sure yet if this is the one.

I'm very excited to see where everything goes with Hal and Captain Marvel. I especially loved that they're bringing back older stuff for Captain Marvel because I fell in love with the character from things where he was a solo character and a lot similar to the older characterization (ie Shazam Power of Hope) and the newer stuff never really does it for me.
At this point I think undoing everything going back to just before Infinite Crisis and continuing on from there before DC decided to start resetting its universe every couple of years, is the better way to go. Too many bad fan-fic writers were allowed on board to screw everything up with their made-up head canon. Also, resetting everything because Lord forbid characters should be allowed to grow and change with their audiences, yeah, enough of that, too. Peter Parker began in the 1960s as a nerdy high school student and grew up (albeit more slowly) with the readers, as he went on to college, got married, tried to juggle having a normal married life and his superhero duties while trying to hold down a job teaching, those were important milestones in the fictional life of the character and the real lives of us who read the comics. We grew up, some of us married, some of us went to college, some of us got jobs right out of high school, some of us had families, and we passed our love of the comics we grew up with to our children. But Marvel and DC decided that growth and learning are bad, hence the endless reboots and retcons and narrative messes resulting in having to reset everything all over again because audience reaction was negative (and for good reason). How about not messing with working formulas to begin with, peeps? Retcon One More Day out of existence for all time. Batman is allowed to go down on Catwoman. Hal Jordan is allowed to grow from bumbling hero whose life is a mess to responsible adult who can actually succeed in life. Superman is allowed to marry Lois Lane, have kids, and face the perils of being Superman while trying to be a good husband and father. The X-Men are allowed to fight for a better future without endless CW-level drama.
He was possessed. Or mind controlled. Or was some villain in disguise. Or was not "our" Green Arrow, but the Green Arrow from an alternate Universe. If none of these is true now, they probably will be at some point.

I love that Lian is alive and that her dad is back to a costume based on his best suit which acknowledges his Native American heritage. I reallly felt it was a misstep to kill Lian and Sin off just to reset the board for Ollie like Roy and Dinah can't have lives lest they orbit him.
I’ve been reading Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent, Unstoppable Doom Patrol, Superboy, and Green Arrow. This past week I picked up Titans and Cyborg, and I follow Nightwing which I think eventually is going to be considered a dawn of DC title. And my best friend is following Spirit World so I read her copy of issue 1. I’m relatively new to following single issue comics so this event has been so convenient for me and totally welcoming. And, unfortunately for my wallet, I’m really enjoying all of it so far. Green Arrow (for everything it’s doing) and Titans (for my curiosity) are probably the standouts for me but Doom Patrol was also a very pleasant surprise
As I'm in a "wait for the trade" period it'll be awhile before I dip into any of the new DC lines. None of them are tempting me yet but I do suffer from DC reboot fatigue. At the moment I've been working through Kieron Gillen's Die. I felt it's RPG roots would be fertile soil for Gillen (his love of the medium is very apparent if you subscribe to his email newsletter), but the weaving in of Tolkein, WW1, the Bronte's and other facets has been wonderful.

Pretty funny that (as a complete newbie to comics) used this launching point as an excuse to go to other launching points lol. I’ve started reading the 90s JSA and JL books and also started a bunch of New 52 books. Although with that being said, it’s funny that Dawn of DC books is considered a launching point but after reading a few books, it feels like I’m starting in season 7 of everybody’s lives. I believe some lines are continuing from their Rebirth reboots(?) and it can feel that way. And I never took DC books to be so mystical. Super and Bats fusing bc of a green lantern ring, demons, cosmic self insert oc’s lol.

It has some good stories but overall it doesn't seem that great. That's only my opinion. I'm kind of hoping the comics will pick up or get more interesting.
I'm reading Action Comics which is pretty good (Power Girl!) but Green Arrow seems like it might actually have some promise of a great story! And the John Kent story is crazy how they've tied it back to the Injustice universe.

I managed to read Spirit World and I really liked that one too. That and Green Arrow have really hit the spot for me.

Oh, and to add something to the conversation, I've read almost all of Dawn of DC and I have been loving it. Superman has been a real standout due to it's grand sweeping tone, but I also really enjoy the tone Waid/Mora bring to Shazam. Green Arrow also gave me the warm fuzzies with the family moments.

For Green Arrow, I like that we finally get to see Lian Harper reconciling with her dad and for her to meet the fraction of the Green Arrow Family after so many years.
I hope that we get to see the entire Green Arrow Family interacting with each other very soon. I also hope that this series will expand as ongoing because of popular demand.
Also, Linkara of AT4W is going to have a field day with this because Lian remembering her entire history (including the Green Arrow Family and interacting with Roy Harper Arsenal).

As someone who reads trades from the library, I like having a good six months to a year to figure out which comics I'd like to get into. Less risk of spending money on something that completely bounces off of me. Especially with how expensive single issues are getting.
Right now I'm reading 70s/80s The Vision and Scarlet Witch so the complete opposite end of the spectrum but when it's collected the new Superman looks up my alley.
I definitely suggest the new Superman run. Great stuff.
For batman brave and bold, I hope they use it as an opertunity to put a spotlight on lesser popular heroes like the cartoon. it introduced me to characters like kamandi, red tornado, guy garner, animal man, and even blue beatle!
I've read most of the Dawn of DC titles so far and I'm really liking it. I like how it feels like we've bounced all the way back from the days of "dark, gritty and streamlined continuity" and now we're just embracing all of the fun and hope that superheroes have to offer.

For Superman, I prefer the pre-Crisis version on how Lex Luthor moved from Smallville, Delaware to Metropolis, Delaware (with him building LexCorp with Superman’s help in 1986, or 25 years before Dawn of DC, referencing the Man of Steel miniseries).
Also, Silver Banshee being Jimmy Olsen’s latest love interest is the Jimmy Olsen Silver Age stuff I’ve seen. I thought that it’s Marylin Moonlight being Jimmy Olsen’s love interest because of the Jimmy Olsen luck. Either way, good for him and Silver Banshee finding each other.

Excellent video! It's my feeling that DC is slowly, agonizingly slowly, building happiness and excitement with Dawn of DC. It doesn't get the big rush of n52, Rebirth, or even Infinite Frontier, but it's dropping solid titles that people are mostly liking. A few duds, like Leah Williams on Power Girl, but mostly interesting and exciting. You should tweet Jeremy Adams to see if he can get Hal to trip - I'm sure he would do it! :)

For Shazam, I like that we get to see Billy Batson Captain Marvel’s (or the Marvelous Captain’s) original pre-Crisis suit and the mention of pre-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Junior. Let’s hope that this series will restore and mention the Marvel Family’s pre-Crisis and pre-Flashpoint history and continuity from Captain Marvel’s introduction in December 1939 all the way up to the present.
Also, the mentioning of Mark Waid and Dan Mora, Sunny and Rowdy Sparkle (from the ‘70s Shazam series), Whitey Murphy and Cissie Sommerly (from Fawcett Comics), and Victor Khusaf (from the Power of Shazam series).

As for what's happening with Lian Harper, Ram V picked up her storyline in the pages of his "Detective Comics" run, where she is currently on the run from the Orghams' Azmers with Solomon Grundy. My guess is that we are going to see her regain her memories since it is clear that "Green Arrow" #1 takes place after the events of "Detective Comics".

It’s kinda been a delight! I’m enjoying the jump back in and I adored the Robin story with Lazarus.
While I understand that many newer comic readers (which I generally consider NOT fans of comics, but more fans of… new characters, often because they are too scared to try and dive into comics the way old fans will, because admittedly, it is A LOT to process and read and buy) probably are more into things like Spirit World, which I do not intend to read, I think DC is finally realizing for the most part, that they need to get back to their bread and butter. The characters that made their universe popular for years, instead of just cranking new character after new character, often pushing those old, classic characters to the side to make way for the new characters they created, and often times hiring writers that do not seem to have the love for the old DC comics that many of the fans have, and instead wanted to make a name for themselves by creating new characters that fell flat with old readers for various reasons. This seems to be editorial being more aware of what fans want, by giving those characters that people really want to see their books back, and really focusing on them. Obviously we know there will just about always be Batman, Superman, and Flash, but Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern (with both Hal and John, and hopefully Guy and Kyle show up some soon as well, as those 4 are the “Corps” characters). But then books like Steel or Hawkgirl, which aren’t necessarily “fan-favorites”, but that are characters that could easily be built up more. Steel has a lot of potential to me personally, and Hawkgirl does too, and hopefully her book will bring back Hawkman as well, and have fun with some of their villains. Power Girl I think could be fun, but I don’t know how to feel about the mental powers thing, and then Fire and Ice could be fun too. And then we get Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, and Wesley Dodds, which was an unexpected surprise, but a welcome one! All-in-all, yes, very back-to-basics for the most part, but that is very much a good thing, and I am happy for it.

Not to put too fine a point on it but it's interesting to see Power Girl not written and drawn by men primarily for the male gaze because she has been subject to that to such an extreme in the past. The character has so much potential that has never been realized.
I am absolutely enjoying DoDC and am looking forward to adding more books. I was down to buying only one or two DC books a month before this. If things go well, I could be up to 7 or 8.

I’ve been reading about 70 to 80% of the new dawn of DC titles. I have to say I agree with your interpretation. Everything seems very back to basics and back to the familiar. Which, considering where the universe is now after dark crisis, a good thing. Titans have come out and I haven’t read that yet, same thing with wonder woman 799. Apparently 799 is supposed to set up for issue 800.

I haven't checked out the new Shazam comic, but what you've said about it has me smiling! I'm also a traditionalist who still calls him Captain Marvel, and love that he's back to a more classic version of the uniform! And yeah, the Captain is a decent compromise for now, with the hope that it's just a step in the right direction. I just may have to go buy this comic!

I’ve read every issue of dawn of dc and it’s the best initiative in years. Superman and Batman is peak. Love the series like cyborg and spirit world which are trying to give lesser spotlighted characters more attention.

This sums it up for me. GL #1 Hal Jordan is trying to get his job back at Ferris Industries while hitting on Carol like he was Guy Gardiner. We cut to him sitting in his trailer where he lives now and the OV reads "Now you're hiding out in your brother's old trailer wondering how you're going to survive with fifty bucks left in your checking account..." Uhm... you have a power ring. You use it to dig up a diamond the size of a baseball? You use it to find 50 kilos of gold or platinum? Bring back a dozen interesting meteors and sell them to a university? Offer to drive a Tesla to Mars for Elon?
I mean, this is TV Barry Allen level brain dead! And it never really gets better.

Ive been loving Dawn of DC and, like you said, a lot of i think has to do with how much the writers seem to actually get their characters and understand why people like them. I also love the more casual good vibes theyve been having too and im fine if they get more serious later, but taking the time to reground them and have some fun i think will only make me more invested in anything that happens later in their stories.
Also Im not too worried about Wally since they've been marketing his own comic right? But yeah Titans is one of the DoDC series that im not entirely sold on yet which is a shame because I'd love for there to be a series with these characters that i really like and care about. I'm just not sure yet if this is the one.

I'm very excited to see where everything goes with Hal and Captain Marvel. I especially loved that they're bringing back older stuff for Captain Marvel because I fell in love with the character from things where he was a solo character and a lot similar to the older characterization (ie Shazam Power of Hope) and the newer stuff never really does it for me.

At this point I think undoing everything going back to just before Infinite Crisis and continuing on from there before DC decided to start resetting its universe every couple of years, is the better way to go. Too many bad fan-fic writers were allowed on board to screw everything up with their made-up head canon. Also, resetting everything because Lord forbid characters should be allowed to grow and change with their audiences, yeah, enough of that, too. Peter Parker began in the 1960s as a nerdy high school student and grew up (albeit more slowly) with the readers, as he went on to college, got married, tried to juggle having a normal married life and his superhero duties while trying to hold down a job teaching, those were important milestones in the fictional life of the character and the real lives of us who read the comics. We grew up, some of us married, some of us went to college, some of us got jobs right out of high school, some of us had families, and we passed our love of the comics we grew up with to our children.
But Marvel and DC decided that growth and learning are bad, hence the endless reboots and retcons and narrative messes resulting in having to reset everything all over again because audience reaction was negative (and for good reason). How about not messing with working formulas to begin with, peeps? Retcon One More Day out of existence for all time. Batman is allowed to go down on Catwoman. Hal Jordan is allowed to grow from bumbling hero whose life is a mess to responsible adult who can actually succeed in life. Superman is allowed to marry Lois Lane, have kids, and face the perils of being Superman while trying to be a good husband and father. The X-Men are allowed to fight for a better future without endless CW-level drama.

I love that Lian is alive and that her dad is back to a costume based on his best suit which acknowledges his Native American heritage. I reallly felt it was a misstep to kill Lian and Sin off just to reset the board for Ollie like Roy and Dinah can't have lives lest they orbit him.

I’ve been reading Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent, Unstoppable Doom Patrol, Superboy, and Green Arrow. This past week I picked up Titans and Cyborg, and I follow Nightwing which I think eventually is going to be considered a dawn of DC title. And my best friend is following Spirit World so I read her copy of issue 1. I’m relatively new to following single issue comics so this event has been so convenient for me and totally welcoming. And, unfortunately for my wallet, I’m really enjoying all of it so far. Green Arrow (for everything it’s doing) and Titans (for my curiosity) are probably the standouts for me but Doom Patrol was also a very pleasant surprise
As I'm in a "wait for the trade" period it'll be awhile before I dip into any of the new DC lines. None of them are tempting me yet but I do suffer from DC reboot fatigue.
At the moment I've been working through Kieron Gillen's Die. I felt it's RPG roots would be fertile soil for Gillen (his love of the medium is very apparent if you subscribe to his email newsletter), but the weaving in of Tolkein, WW1, the Bronte's and other facets has been wonderful.
Great to hear that Lian reunited with Roy finally since she's been back and around. Them not talking about it is also fine for me since i never want to remember Cry for Justice LOL

Pretty funny that (as a complete newbie to comics) used this launching point as an excuse to go to other launching points lol. I’ve started reading the 90s JSA and JL books and also started a bunch of New 52 books.
Although with that being said, it’s funny that Dawn of DC books is considered a launching point but after reading a few books, it feels like I’m starting in season 7 of everybody’s lives. I believe some lines are continuing from their Rebirth reboots(?) and it can feel that way. And I never took DC books to be so mystical. Super and Bats fusing bc of a green lantern ring, demons, cosmic self insert oc’s lol.
