Mario Reacts to NFTs in Video Games
The blockchain, bitcoin, crypto, and now the next evolution NFTs have arrived, and with their rapid adoption within gaming and other media, good ol' Mr. Richards has a plan to make some serious coin with none other than the super mustachioed Nintendo money maker himself, Mario. Mario is skeptical, and tries to voice why NFTs are bad, but will he be heard?

Literally all an “nft” is, is a digital receipt, the “ledger” being a blockchain instead of Walmart or target..

After they talked about NFTs being a way to make digital goods a limited respource, I was expecting that Mario would also be called out on his anniversary 3 game collection, that was only a limited time offer.

@@sonicfan701 it was not a joke. At least in my country you can not find it in the eshop and stores can not restock it once they sold their supply of it, since Nintendo limited it, so it has become quite rare to get for its original price.
We know it's just sketches and jokes but the script is pure genius with how you handle the subtext with the Mario reaction. What a freaky world we live in folks. Anyway thanks for the laughs.

While I didn't get the ending I wanted, I'm glad it didn't have Mario convert to this sick idea of NFTs like other characters were suckered into in these sketches.

Remember when you bought a game at Gamestop and that was the entire game with unlockable skins that prove how good you are at the game instead of proving you had €5 too much?

I also remember having to do chores and earn and save up money to buy a game.
Nowadays kids just download the “free” garbage, and then spend on it instead. And this model is actually more profitable, many spenders spend hundreds instead of just $60 one time lol

I like this Mario. On most internet skits involving him he's misrepresented as a hot headed selfish piece of trash, but in this sketch it's more in line with Mario's personality in the games.

People just like to demoralize characters like Mario and Mickey Mouse who are mascots of multi billion dollar companies. They're moreso representing the morally gray/black companies rather than the characters themselves. Still, I much prefer Mario to be...well...Mario

Nfts are a just a receipt.
Receipts are pretty much worthless, I could show you a receipt for my bike but would you care? So they aren’t a scam, just mostly worthless for 99% of things , and ppl not understanding them wasting money.
A real life use would be digital game receipts, would be cool to resell your digital games like we used to with disc games.

@@carsonhunt4642 Why would people buy a digital game from someone when they could buy it from the companies themselves? Digital games can be copied indefinitely with no cost and effort and companies put them on sales all the time (except nintendo). Also owning an uninstalled digital game takes no space at all compared to a physical game.

The point would be for reselling, pretty simple to understand.
And agree companies would be against this they’d rather you buy it full price from their store, hence it’s unlikely to be adopted.

I never argued against any of that.
Nft’s literally are a receipt, a public digital ledger, that anyone can check to verify something. What the receipt is for is where it gets random. Random dumb art? Mostly a scam. Nft for title for a car, house, digital game ownership, etc.. there’s real use cases for it that aren’t just blatant scams like digital art lol.

I’ve never seen Mario so chill before, and I honestly quite like it.
Makes sense. Mario doesn't speak much most of the time other than phrases in the games. Despite Mario showing enthusiasm throughout the adventures, he is otherwise a calm and chill guy

This is insane but truth. Mario does make a great point on how gaming used be two decades ago and I remember when we got a complete game for sixty dollars and DLC was a whole separate game that expanded the original for roughly twenty dollars. I am glad I left the whole gaming scene.
Side note, I love Mario's overalls in this video and his accent. The individual really brought Mario to life as it seem that he would talk as such if he was real.

An idea for that type of situation is Dick Richards representing TV companies like Disney trying to cheapen and alter the online show Hazbin hotel but they have a devoted fanbase and successful merchandise sales.

Of all the nft videos, this is ironically one of the best explanations I've heard. Not just what it is, but how it works and the underlying economical concepts behind it.

Damn, Mario, I think you need a checkup.
Nintendo is a super slow company to adapt ideas from other companies. They wait a long while to ensure it's a lasting good idea financially. I don't think NFTs will last long enough to reach a Mario game. That's far from saying Nintendo doesn't sell out to scam ideas. They absolutely do. They just prefer to either come up with their own ideas, or wait until other companies' ideas are ancient enough for very few people to notice them jumping in.
Any other company though... Wouldn't surprise me to see it attempted.
