"The only king who is happy is the king of his own consciousness. He sits in the castle of silence and shuts out all storms of worries, and nothing can challenge the quietness of his soul."
Dame and DeMar both come from rough parts in Cali, both got that ice cold clutch gene in their veins but they just good dudes, humble and hardworking striving to be and do better that’s what it’s all about. Dame and DeMar have done so much for the game! Us fans appreciate y’all’s greatness!
My daughter is yours and the bulls biggest fan, she’s 12 and is obsessed with basketball. Her birthday is this Friday and is having a full blown bulls theme birthday party. We’ve been watching this series together and her seeing that her favorite basketball player struggles with some of the same things she does gives her hope that everything will be ok. You are inspiring more people than you know. Thank you so much for this series ❤
Dame and demar are literally like alternate versions of each other they just grew up in two different parts of cali. But the way they carry themselves the way they speak how they play where they come from they are very similar both very unique in their own respect. But I can see how they would become good friends and that’s the beauty of the league.
Growing up in a New England, being a patriots and Celtics fan, I’ve had many sports idols to look up to. However, my favorite athlete of all time happens to be a long time blazer and now a Milwaukee buck. Damian lillard is the most inspirational athlete of my lifetime, and I really appreciate him doing something like this. Thank you Dame!
no it’s not millionaires whining, try working a regular job, and living a civilians life that’s stressful. Living the dream and not being grateful is no bueno, count your blessings.
@@ballin4real7 half a million people in the US are homeless. They'd probably call "a civilians life" living the dream. You say it's stressful. There are problems at every level of life. Understanding each other, and understanding that mental health isn't just based on someone's financial situation, is important. More important than even that, kids look up to these players so normalizing caring about mental health is an altogether positive thing. Shout out Deebo and Dame for this.
@ballin4real7 you sound stupid. So imagine if you had people talk about the performance of your job on national tv your 9-5 no matter if you dealing with personal issues or not and you had to be damn near perfect or your next raise was in jeopardy. Just because these folks are living the “dream” doesn’t mean they not people the luxury for us is that we can live our lives however we please while there’s is under a microscope at all times.
Demar I am addicted to these man they are just what we need to hear man it’s a shame Kobe ain’t here because I know for sure he’d have been the 1st guest ❤️🙏🏾
I remember reading a story about Dame inviting a friend of his at Weber to live with him when he was struggling and staying close w him. Also read about some off the court things he dealt with during Covid where he had to be a strong leader for his family/friends. much respect to Demar and Dame for keeping it real and putting this convo out to the public
Even though I have had a very different life it’s been very difficult and painful at times. Also full of blessings. I have had great therapists … one in particular and other spiritual teachers to point me in directions to help me find my own inner peace and so very grateful for that. It’s always a work in progress even at 73 :) We Grew up in the East Bay in the 50s / 60s. My Husband and I now live in Lake County. We became Kings fans around 2016… perfect timing. Just started reading your book and been listening to many interviews. What a wide variety of energies. And your own podcast is wonderful. Just wanted to express my deep appreciation and blessings to you always. ❤and 🙏
Not gonna lie.. I was in a dark place & had some dark thoughts and intentions before I watched this. I appreciate two of my favorite players since Bean retired, sitting down and having this conversation. It honestly meant a lot to me.
This is fantastic conversation from very honorable men. This type of discussion is so much more interesting to me than other content out there. Putting the kids to bed so I can really zone in on this convo. Thank you!
All heroes don't wear capes, these two brothas are shedding light on something that isn't talked about enough in the urban community. Mental health is so important and many people don't even know that they are suffering or how to get help. The thing to remember about mental health is that you can't see when your hurting, in comparison to something physical like a bruise or a bump so it's harder to understand when your hurt or sick. However platforms like this that breakdown how things can effect us mentally and shed light on way's to deal with it is such a big help to others dealing with issues. I have subscribed and really enjoyed watching these two superstars go over such an important topic. Legendary!
Very similar dispositions these brothers, always nice to see how life brings people together who compliment each other so well, appreciate these men as farthers
Two of the classiest guys in the league and super fun to watch you guys play too. As a child of immigrant parents, a lot of your experiences resonated. Great episode!
This was a very impactful convo between these two, respect! Two of my favorite players since they have been in the league. I'm a Portland fan since the Kersey and Buck Williams days and I enjoyed all the moments Dame gave to RIP City and never waivered in cheering for the best for him as he gave it his all and he's a true professional. Much success for you in Milwaukee bro! DeMar keep doing what your doing it is a big thing!
❤ I love the transparency of this conversation! Life doesn’t discriminate or know social/economic status. It happens to us all! Keep speaking on it, pouring into one another and taking care of yourselves in all aspects (mentally, emotionally, physically)! You owe it to yourselves! As cliche as it is, “you can’t pour from an empty cup” do things to fill your cup and everybody benefits from it!
Hello Demar. Your ball game bring me so much joy. My partner who is deaf and autistic. I recently brought him into watching the bulls. Omg the emotions he have when you get the ball. 😂😂😂❤❤❤ he is Big kid. He don’t understand the game. So he hates it when you foul someone and slow down the game for free throws. Omg I fear going to a game and him seeing you. Start reacting to you like a villain wrestler. But he is hyper into all the recent games. Rather your feel like a hero/villain. your bringing life into our home. Thank you. This is my todays. For My past, I Had a father who drink and beat me a lot. So I understand the weight of the world while struggling mentally.
Hey Demar. Love you bro! Been riding for about 10+ years now and imma keep riding for you. I ditched Toronto when they traded you despite being from there, rooted for the spurs, and then the bulls. I’ll keep riding no matter where you go. Keep your head up king ❤️ You’ll always be the greatest raptors to ever exist, and one of the greatest scorers of all time
I relate so much to you DeMar. My mother went into surgery and that was the first time we showed affection towards one another in so long. It felt good like you said.
Wishin you nothing but the best with the Sacramento Kings DeMar with all the years you spent in the league and still at the elite upper echelon level you playing at. You deserved the MAX but glad you still got paid. Glad you back home in Cali, They Not Like Us.
Demar really impacted not just the basketball world but a part of society. I’ll never forget when he opened up but his mental health and how it rolled over to more athletes and people in general coming to the realization that they feel the same. It honestly feels like since that point, men have started prioritizing their mental health more than ever before. Your strength on opening up on this was for a reason. We appreciate Demar 💯
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 to anyone going through anything. Life sometimes gets tough and you have to find a way to push through. Find someone to talk to, don't be afraid. Whatever it is let it out. Blessings to these two brothers 🙏🏾 💪🏾

This is the one that made me realize I can’t hold my depression in anymore. I wish I had somebody to talk to that can relate to mental health. Nobody seems to understand me or take what I say seriously.
Life wears down your bounce sometimes, but no matter how much you bounce back age begins to deflate your bounce. I appreciate you, because no matter what we need kindness to understand that understanding is wealth. ❤
Obviously I am not an NBA player but I can say that this video has giving me the confidence to go talk to someone about my mental health struggles. I never really have anyone to talk to and truly never thought about going to go to someone professionally.
