I didn't really know anything about you prior to this, but hearing you speak on raising your children, and putting others before yourself and stuff was amazing. I certainly don't know you, but you seem like a real solid dude. Keep it up man 🫡❤️
Such a humble down to Earth soul. I swear black men are not given the space to just be vulnerable and human. This is a King here. Toronto speaking. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Pleeeaaassseee…I’ll take the spot OF any Millionaires!! I’d call my Bank Account and it says your account balance is $1.1 Million OR A LOT more…all my depression is GONE!- lol
@OldasianguyYet you here responding. You clearly feel some way, just by the way you responding. No one forced you to type and no one forced you to watch this video to react yet here you are coming from the guy whose never had those feelings. “I get they’re trying to help people, but it’s too much. That’s the problem” Shows how deeply flawed your character is…
More than a hooper!I love hearing Deebo speaking, cause everything he said it comes from his heart and every time had something to say. Not the typical sh*t,just REAL words.
Amazing!!!! Thank you to the Pivot team and DeMar for breaking the stigma of mental health in the black community. Our parents didn’t have these conversations with us, not because they didn’t want to but because they didn’t know how. We all experience moments of crisis, it’s normal. It helps to know that others are experiencing circumstances similar to what you’re going thru. Another awesome episode!!!
WOW! This interview is deep, this guy comes off pure and genuine as anyone I have ever seen- I heard the story of D Rose and his emotions after his trade from Chicago- listening to DeRozan and his trade makes you appreciate these athletes more- especially when they come off genuine! GREAT job on the interview team
I appreciate his perspective on mental wellness. People may think that he's only targeting young black athletes what they don't realize he resonates with a 42 year old single mom of three adults as well. He's not only reaching young black men, he's reaching a middle-aged mother that is white. Thank you all for this podcast, to me 'The Pivot' is one of the best podcasts out there period. You have something for everyone whether it be sports, comedy, mental health, serious topics, hilarious conversations and banter, etc. so a great big thank you goes out to eat and every one of you from Ryan, Freddy and Chan to your crew who helps you put our all together. Prayers are going up for each of you to be Blessed and continue to be Blessed by the GOD HIMSELF. As I always say for myself and it goes for you guys as well, y'all are Blessed and highly favored by The And Only GOD ABOVE!!! GOD Bless each of you gentlemen in your continued success in this lifetime.
That just goes to show you, don't judge a book by its cover. A real man can show emotion and even cry sometimes. Much respect to the pivot for this episode and DeMar DeRozan. You rock Deebo.
Mr. DeRozan, much respect for sharing your journey. I've always loved your game, now knowing why you speak about mental health, I love the man....Mr. DeRozan. Truly inspirational.
This was a fantastic episode! He is definition of vulnerability for the sake of self and to help others. Just beautiful to watch mental health discussed as just that and not a weakness! Thanks PIVOT!
Demar always going to be a legend in Toronto. The city, and the country as a whole, will never lose their love for what he brought to the team both as a player, and as a human being
Just gotta say I been goin through it. This shit was something I needed to hear. I know that feeling all to well when you in a room full of people but are all alone. 🙏🏻
I have been upside down after being on top forever, parents died and I was so depressed and listening to this makes me feel not alone. You try keep to yourself because you don’t want someone to think you’re weak. No time for overthinking. Thanks you guys and Demar! All good 🙌💯 Former athlete from Vegas and So Cal
I enjoyed this interview. Having grown up in Compton, it was definitely enlightening to hear DeMar talk so lovingly of Compton. Growing up there helped me succeed on many levels.
This has been the best episode thus far this season. Great job from the production staff and people behind the cameras and also the hosts Fred, Chan, and R.C.. S/O to DeMar for opening up and showing the youth the truth about life intertwined with sports. Much love and respect to you and your family.
Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. From the thoughtful questions from Ryan, Fred and Channing to the candid responses from DeMar, this is another one of my favorites.
Man your story is powerful. This is what I went through recently. It wasn’t til last year that I realized that i hid allot of my pain and I would run from my past and abuse certain thing to cope with pain. I was so afraid to just be myself and hide my story to the point where I hid my gifts. The pain that we experienced can be turned into joy. I didn’t realized it because I never spoke about it. It’s still pain there but there are solutions to. It. Man bro I respect you for your glory bro. It’s not a struggle Olympics, it’s a healing Olympics. Our pain can be some ones joy. Man this literally happen to me last year. Wow very powerful episode.
Amazing show!!! As someone who works in mental health and trying to fight the stigma of mental health, I have nothing but respect for this show!!! I salute and admire you my brothers
Great interview, very deep conversation about mental health. Everyone is different some kids need more than the other, but if your parents never had that love or the hugs or kiss or the I love you then they don’t know how to forward that to their children, but when we know better we do better. Growing up we didn’t get any kisses, hugs or I love you, but I’m from a different era so it didn’t affect me because we were taken care of. Fed, clothed, taught etc… Mother & father were married & in the household. Father worked my Mother stayed home and raised five children. I broke the cycle for my daughter. She gets the I love you & the kisses & hugs even at the age of twenty-nine. It makes a difference to say those words to your children. Keep doing what you’re doing brother. But in reality I guess it did affect me because with my siblings we only hug during holidays or loss etc.. & even then it feels awkward.
Man you are spitting facts. I can speak for myself when I say this. Sometimes that’s all we need. Those words of encouragement out of nowhere, it shows the genuine care of people near us. Foreal it’s iron sharpening iron. That simple check in to say I love you bro or I’m just checking in on or keep going towards whatever it is you are doing. Man I wish I could have been involved with this conversation. It would’ve felt like a million bucks just to be able to fellowship like this with similarly stories and gain insight, and cry, and laugh from it. Man this is powerful. Gracious salute to you brothers
I always get excited when the pivot come on you get to see so many pro nfl and nba players along with others celebrity just getting to hear about there life on an outside of fame another great interview
Its conversations like this that really makes me love this show. It also helps me navigate my life as a father and a person in general cause hearing the story of others journeys can give us info to potentially help us with things we are going through.
Great interview. As a Kings fan, this got me super hyped to have DeMar with the team. He's going to fit right in and help the team on a variety of levels.
Demar Derozen the MARSHAWN LYNCH of the NBA! He REAL AF , LOYAL & HE’s HIM!! Dude just like NIPSEY……Iswear he got dat ability to make you GRAVITATE to him!!! I’m a FAN FRFR (his interview on podcast p go hard too)

Thank you. As a Bulls fan DeMar has been nothing but class. As a man, DeMar is leading us. Thank you to all of you for showing what men can be, no matter what “color “ we are. Keep telling stories and keep educating.
Such a great convo!! It's refreshing to hear DeMar and other Black men opening up and being vulnerable...sharing wisdom from their life experiences. love it!
Truth has to be said. Those who feel like letting out your emotions is a sign of weakness is emotionally immature and is constantly miserable. Bottling up your emotions to continue to pretend that everything is okay is your greatest weakness and it holds you back from being the best version of yourself. Anything you accomplish in life will be swiftly taken away by the bottled up emotions you avoided because they always come out at the worst possible time.
I'm late to your show, but it's become my favorite by far. As a 70 years old Philadelphian my favorite interview is B. Dawkins. But this episode has been my most consequential. I was having a really bad day, infact it's been a really bad month. I was thinking, I have a bunch of medicine, pain killers, sleeping medicine and I was thinking, it would be very easy to just take a glass of water and go to sleep. Thank you for this episode. I'm still here, and I'll work to stay here. I just want you guys to know the impact you have. Also thanks to Channing for making me laugh.
Guy’s I really appreciated this, with all the things Demar, said this now the most I have heard about his “Trade from TO”, Ryan, Guys we never want him to leave, Toronto want him to be here, we also want him to stay. Demar DeRozen will always be a Raptors, as will Kyle, Vince and a few other. He will always be welcome here.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Mental health aside Demar DeRozan is one of the best offensive hoopers ever. The footwork is top 5. His ascendacy came from hard work. I remember when he had trouble with his handle as a Rookie and to see the development in his offensive game is unfathomable tbh.
Money can buy you happiness BUT you have to be happy from within First. I know this first hand. In life you need love companionship and family. Money isn’t everything ppl understand that.
