@Husker54 You can do a very cheap setup with a standard phone. It's good enough for mobile VR games and to watch all kinds of VR videos. It was enough to get me hooked. There are VR phone sets that sell for like 20€ in my country on amazon, so it must be similiar in yours. It even works with really old phones, although a high resolution helps of course. I had it running for my 2013 LG G2, which only has 1920x1080 resolution. You can even use freely available or paid apps to stream games from your PC to your phone VR. It works alright. Of course the real deal is the best, but if you just want to try VR and have a bit of the VR cake, 20€ isn't much to spend, is it?
Agree, I don't have a VR Headset yet, have enough on my plate to pay right now, so it has low priority financially, but I got a free VR headset for my Phone when I went to pick up a new contract, for what it is, it's really solid , like some of the rollercoaster actually do have you swaying around like an idiot even though you just sit in a chair and watch. I can only imagine the awesomeness you get from playing something like this with a full HTC Vive or something, compared to a little headset that clamps to your phone and basically just projects the screen through two lenses.

My dad loved flight sims, he passed suddenly in 2017 and that was right before VR really became available (to me, anyway) I would have loved to show him this game. I play it all the time on and off. It lacks content, but its unique in it's own category and was all developed by one guy pretty much.

Can confirm, VTOL VR is fucking awesome. My grandfather just retired, I brought my vive over for him to test out some flight sims, he enjoyed VTOL VR more than any other.
If you are holding onto the throttle, one of the controller buttons will deploy chaff and flares. To use a GBU, you need GPS coordinates, which you can get from the camera using a button on the dash
as an avid player of air combat games since '97 and several friends flying for the Marines and Navy, a few tips: -stay low if you can when attacking ground targets. Makes it harder for missiles to lock on as they get lost in the ground clutter. Although the Shilkas make that a dangerous proposition, they are only effective to less than 10,000 feet....if there's no cover to avoid them, I used to do high altitude strafe/bomb runs to stay out of their crosshairs. -When a missile is incoming, ground or air, always try to keep eyes on it as much as possible. Run downhill if you can, and turn into the missile a little bit at a time, getting it to bleed off energy. Running it downhill serves two purposes; makes you get lost in the ground clutter, and allows you to make a sharp pull up or to the side. This usually bleeds off enough energy and when you snap that turn, it wont be able to follow. Defense measures (chaff/flares) at that moment work pretty well. Turning into it bleeds it down also, as shown by out-running it. -Stop running from your enemies lol....turn and face your contacts head on...gives them less of a chance to get a missile lock, and if it does, less time for it to arm while in flight. -Not sure how realistic this game is yet, but coming from Janes F15 and Lock On: Modern Air Combat, those were the most realistic sims I've had (havent gotten into Arma 3 yet but after watching your vids, setting up your jets for takeoff is just as complicated hahaha)

Drew, you should check DCS F/A-18C out, DCS is also in VR (though it doesn't have hand tracking yet, but it is planned) and It is the most immersive and realistic flying experience around

I have the Oculus Rift and I wanted a good flying sim and use to loveeeeee Ace Combat on Ps3 back in the day. I can't remember which one it was but it had a story mode where you were an elite pilot and the cut scenes where kind of cheezey . Just pictures of scenes like you sitting in a bar and I remember some little girl or something. I played the crap out of it. Anyways. Is this game difficult to learn and how high is the fun factor? Great video and keep it up.

In the main menu there is (at least now, idk about 3 years ago) a warning about motion sickness

Graphics in VR aren't great but they look a lot better in headset than they are recorded.
And since it's in 3d, it is very immersive.
Take it from one who fly in this game on a daily basis, it is quite awesome. Its not as deep as DCS, but its a worthy champion for VR flight sim!

One thing to note is that when a missile runs out of propellant, it doesn't just stop chasing you.
