    I have the G20 SF for short frame, Gen 3. Fits my hand much better. I also added Talon grip tape. Night and day difference. I think on Gen 4s you can reverse the mag release button. I’m also left handed but that button does not bother me.

    I've been wondering which 10mm I want to try out besides the g20. I already have a very nice g20 build with an optic cut and window cuts etc.. it's a pretty gucci gun and super fun to shoot. I'm thinking either the sig or the XDM

    • @TheArkansasGunGuy
      @TheArkansasGunGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Being a hard core Sig fan - and I’ve owned the XDM as well - traded it for my XTen. I would probably choose the Glock, then Sig then Springfield. Didn’t hate the Springfield / it was actually quite nice - but like the Sig and Glock better! Thanks for checking out my channel!!!

      @RedRider2001 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although Glock is good quality the ergonomics and triggers of the XDM and XTEN are so much better that the G20 shouldn’t even be considered unless you’re an all-Glock guy. Between the XDM and the Sig it’s close but I give the edge to the XTEN.

    I got the G20 gen 5 and didnt know about the Sig. Am I kinda miffed after falling in love with my 365xl? Sure, but a Glock is a Glock and it's gonna just be good at being that. Sig can be pretty but they really struck gold with the 365 but have had a roller coaster history with many of their other platforms.

      Similar experiences but I'm better shooting the G20, then XTEN and last the XDM. The XTEN just fits so well in the hand compared to the others and it pains me with some of the ammo failures I have had. Only FMJ 180 fires the best without failures out of my XTEN. If I'm going out in the woods, I will be taking the G20. I hope SIG continues with R&D to make it as good as the G20 and XDM running all types of ammo and more reliable.

  • @jimd1968
    @jimd1968 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am also a Sig fan boy, I love the P220 in 10mm. The P220 & G20 is a better choice because they have proven to work with most of the ammunition that is out there. The Sig XTen has had issues with the 200-220-230 grain bullets. That maybe because of the grip module being so thin like a 9mm. Hopefully Sig will correct this problem. Maybe Icarus ACE might be a good option, but its a lot of money for a Icarus grip mod. One more thing if you like the 10mm, it was the Glock 20 & 29 that kept the 10mm alive, and now its thriving. Great video, hope to see a range report from you. Thank You

      @jimd1968 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SonsoftheRevolution1776 very true, even the Glock 20 Gen 5 is having issues. But there are other guns that work and are good to go out of the box from day one, but maybe not in 10mm. Maybe there is a breaking period for the 10mm because the round is so powerful and versatile. Some loads are watered down and some are as Hot as when the round was first developed.

    • @SonsoftheRevolution1776
      @SonsoftheRevolution1776 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jimd1968 the breakin is common with just about all of the sig firearms I usually run around 300 rounds through a new sig before it becomes a daily carry. I need to make a range trip soon so I can put some rounds through my Xmacro so that it can be added to the EDC list. A lot of it has to do with the mags as well, sig mags are definitely tight when new.

    all brands can have stove pipe issues, I've shot SIG's that have them and Glocks as well, I think it has more to do with the gun and its components getting broken in as the machined parts are simply not always 100% smooth until they cycle a few 100 times. A gun with 1000 rounds thru it is always more reliable imo.

Anyway, I have both of these guns, and I really hope just putting more rounds through my Sig will smooth things out. I just fear they made the grip so small, therefore the mags are small, so tolerances are tight for smooth operation right out of the box. Love the gun otherwise. But you're right, if I only had these two and a grizzly is coming, I'm grabbing my Glock😮.

    Hope you enjoy your choice of pistol. I've had quite a few Glocks & Sigs. Both types have jammed. Shooting plate competition with a G17, it jammed, couple of times. But hey. When your shooting fast for long periods of times, the components sometimes fail. Like a machine. A G19 jammed on me just shooting at the range. SIG p229 jammed on me few times. All other Sigs i owned were flawless. As for 10mm my G40 with KKM 7" barrel has not failed me. And its a soft shooter. If i were to purchase another 10mm it'd be a S&W 1006. I had 2 of those when they first came out. I wish i would have held onto them.

  • @G79911997

    Both sides have had problems. You can see this all over TH-cam. The Sig definitely wins the looks contest. I like the options for the Sig: (MOS compatible/ambidextrous/ factory stippling)-but will always trust that the Glock having one in the pipe will not go off without the trigger being fully engaged. It's not in my experience, but hearing all the lawsuits on Sig pistols unintentionally firing is not helping their brand. Also want to point out that my Glock20SF after installing nite fision accurate 8 sights- has been the most accurate non-red dot pistol I'v owned capable of 2-3" groups easily at 12 yards. Not bad for Glock's heavy spongey trigger. Installed a Timmney alpha match and the 20SF breaks much crisper at 4.5 pounds compared to almost 6 pounds for the OEM. Yes....I know that the 2 upgrades cost me an extra 200.00, but the 20SF retailed for 549.00. So with the additional add-ons the price is very similar to that of the Sig. As a 10mm that's more for a woods back up and quick acquisition for 20 yards on in, I really don't foresee needing the red dot on the 20SF...Just my 2 cents.

      After sig has won multiple court cases with thousands of attempts and yet to this day no legitimate lab has recreated the drop fire issue or now the ghost firing in holster. It was almost a good ad campaign by glock with their paid trolls, but the P320 and P365 outsell Glock entire line of pistols. They have both set all time sales records since their release.

    The looks of the gun... who cares? Talk about a non-priority. The affinity one has with a particular line of pistol? Not at the sake of #1 reliability, and #2 accuracy.
    I love the SIG Sauer P220, P226 and P229 series pistols. Beautiful pieces, fantastic reliability, great accuracy. Oh, and really nice looking, too. I've just never cared for the P250 and P320 series. The P365 series is okay, but I don't really like micro compacts, either. Overall, SIGs are the top-tier pistols I've owned, and mine have always been 100% flawlessly reliable.
    I've owned several Glocks, in 9mm Luger, 357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and 10mm Auto. All were totally 100% reliable, except for the 10mm Auto (a Gen3 Glock 20SF), which had a lot of reliability issues, to say nothing of that damned unsupported bullet chamber. That being said, IMHO, Glocks have terrible triggers, crappy sights, overall poor ergonomics, but nevertheless I've always found them to be accurate, quick and simple to detail strip and reassemble, but also in need of quite a few upgrades to get them to where I wanted them. Their looks, IMHO, they're pug-ugly, and they don't feel good in my hands - sort of like a poorly sculpted 2 x 4 piece of lumber. Even though I shot them well, I didn't care for the grip angle on my Glocks, all except for 10mm G20 that is, where it really helped tame the recoil.
    My Springfield Armory XDm .40 S&W 4.5" and .45 ACP 4.5" shot just as well as my Glocks, but had better fit and finish, and were just as reliable. I didn't care for their mushy stock triggers, but I did like their looks over Glock.
    My fourth / most recent brand of pistol is from Smith & Wesson, specifically their M&P M2.0 series, in 9mm Luger, and most recently, 10mm Auto. Trying out M&P 9 M2.0 rentals at my local indoor shooting range is what moved me over to this series of pistol, and prompted me to eventually sell off all of my Glock and Springfield Armory pistols. I found I just shot the M&Ps effortlessly better than my other striker fired pistols. They came well equipped stock, felt great in my hands, and although I didn't much care for their stock hinged triggers, I preferred them to the Glock and XDm stock triggers. Thousands of 9mm Luger rounds down range later, my three M&P M2.0 9mm pistols have all been 100% flawlessly reliable. IMHO, they're far and away better than my Glock and XDm pistols.
    Regarding my two 10mm Auto pistols (G3 G20SF, M&P 4.6"), perfection cannot be claimed.
    My M&P 10mm 4.6" has 1,400 10mm Auto rounds down range, 400 of which were full power Underwood hunting and / or JHP self defense rounds. I've experienced just 1 malfunction of any kind, a FTF during my first shooting session with it. The load was an Underwood 10mm Auto 200 Gr FN HCL round. I quickly remedied this with a Wolff Gunsprings uncaptured 24-pound recoil spring and new solid stainless steel guide rod, and a pair of Springer Precision longer length higher strength magazine springs. To date she's been 1,399 for 1,400 (99.929% reliable).
    My Gen3 Glock 20SF has been a veritable jam-o-matic with heavy full power loads from Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, and Underwood, suffering about a 30% failure rate (FTF and FTE malfunctions). Changing out various steel RSAs and magazine springs failed to resolve these issues. Not to mention that damned unsupported bullet chamber giving me the notorious Glock smiley face on every single full power cartridge casing - so much for reloading those spent cases. Per Glock, HCL rounds are a no-go, so spending some coin on a fully supported after-market barrel was in order. I tried both a $95 6" Loan Wolf barrel and a $200 4.6" Bar-Sto semi drop-in barrel. This saved my brass, but didn't alleviate all my FTF and FTE malfunctions. Plus, crappy trigger, crappy sights, uncomfortable slippery grip... my G20 was the last of my Glocks sold off.
