I just called my local Ford Service Department and they told me they didn't know what it is. Thanks to you I know what to do. And can educate their service department
Thank you for posting this. I got the alert today for the first time. I was worried as I just had new tires put on a few weeks ago and thought they tire shop messed something up. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
@@cgonedfishing I do have one! I think for some time it would ask me to check my tire pressure when my tires looked fine. I haven’t gotten that message lately
@@Andykyoshi I brought it to the shop after I used the kit, and I had to tell them I had used a sealant. I think they might’ve flushed it out(?). They then patched it
Great job, simple informative video, wish more like this on youtube. I needed this exact info and you provided in less than the time it would have taken me to talk to somebody at Ford dealership!
Omg?!? U just saved me 50 bucks!! The light was on to fix kit, never used it ever! A spare tire would make more sense, smh. Do you need the kit to pass inspection because I just reset the reminder for 4yrs, lol? Thank you, thank you, thank you again!!
The tire mobility kit is intended to reduce weight and in turn make the car more efficient. The kit isn't required to pass any inspections, but it would be a good idea to have a serviceable kit in case you need it one day. $32 beats any price a tow truck company would charge you for a flat tire.
2013 Fusion. I bought a spare tire and never plan on using the sealant crap. Is there a way around buying a can of sealant that I don't want in order to turn off the idiot light?
Ford dealer ships stock the replacement TA-34 canisters. A new replacement number is AG1Z-1568-A. You could check on Amazon or do a shop search "ford TA-34". A good price including shipping is about $41.
I would check the experation date on the canister to verify it has expired. If it had expired like a year ago or more, I would complain about to the dealership you had purchased it from.
@@Unusualon60fps The tire mobility kit in this video has two hoses a clear one and a black one. The clear one is for the sealant. The black hose is for the air compressor.
@CS They do have the refill canister on Amazon for about $56. You may be able to find other suppliers at a cheaper price. Also, other car manufacturers may use the same inflater. So search arround.
@@jeffanderson9093 Thank, I just look and I don't have a kit, I look under all the seats and where the spare tire in the back, and nothing. Can I just go in and set the sensor? 🤷♀
I'm still searching for a solution. But I haven't had to use my kit until now. My knob doesn't work. Can't turn it to any position but the sealant position
The 2017 Fusion will not acmodate a full size spare. But will acmodate a smaller tire. This will require removing the foam and other items that are stored in trunk well.
You will need to measure the space that is available for the tire. Also make sure thier is a proper way to secure the tire. When searching for a spare check bolt pattern, weight rating of the setup.
No substitute for having a spare tire, jack, lug wrench and a roadside assistance service to call. Second best option is just having a roadside assistance service to call. Worse option is using that sealant crap that will rarely work and makes for a much more expensive repair when you get towed anyway. Best bet is don't buy a car that doesn't have a spare tire option. Have a 2015 Fusion Hybrid that came w/o spare but has space for one.
The sealant worked perfectly and within minutes. My sisters tire was flat and she had nobody else to help her. Obviously a spare tire is best to have but this isn’t a bad alternative to have either
Yea they’ll get you. Like in my car my acm went out (audio control module) they’re asking 800 bucks for a new one and an additional 300 for programming I found one online for 150 bucks

@@TheTae310 I have full size spare tire. It weighed 48 pounds. Then add a car jack to this number. The car manufacturer shaved 50 pounds out of the car. The tire inflater will be far cheaper then the tire and jack. Also if car owner gets Injured while attempting to change a tire. They may sue the manufacture.
@@TheTae310 Only about 10% of the vehicles have a full size spare. 60% have temporary spare tire. 30% have no spare tie whatsoever. This information is from consumer reports.
Today's cost for the canister; $48.00. Just put that $48 toward the purchase of the spare tire/jack/tools kit and be done with this nonsense. What if you have a sidewall damaged tire that this "mobility kit" can't fix. You're screwed, that's what. Call a tow truck.
This is awful. It is basically an expensive and smaller can of Fix A Flat, rather than a tire! So when I get a blowout I will have to call AAA for a tow because Ford is too cheap to provide a spare tire!
Ford tech here, this was alot faster than looking through the workshop manual on how to service it. Thank you

Do you move the knob back to the left position when you've finished replacing the canister?
Great video. I reset the timer. Is this little kit even necessary ? Nonetheless. Thanks again.
thanks for the video
is that sealant under the ford warranty?
Yup, agree with everyone else. Very helpful, and very explanatory. Thanks.
Great video. Informative & well put together. Thanks!
If using the sealant could damage the sensor that cost upwards of $75 why use it?
OEM TPMS sensors are about $30 for a set of four, one can be purchased online for $12 to $13 on ebay, not $75 unless you go to a Ford dealer.
So I can buy the canister anywhere? And replace it myself to save on labor costs?
