For anyone confused about him going on about "version 3" coilovers, these aren't "KW V3". Kw makes a secondary product line called "st suspension" and the xta line is built right along side kw suspensions, but they're aimed at a lower price point so there's some differences. So he has ST XTA +3 coilovers, not "KW VERSION 3" the biggest difference between then being the galvanized steel shock body instead of stainless steel. St is cool because you still get the same kw quality, German engineering, made in Germany etc, just at a lower cost. I just installed a set of ST XTA's on my frs and I love them. The ride is extremely compliant and it made a huge improvement to the handling. With camber plates they costed as much as some cheaper coilover options but the quality is significantly higher.
Are you located in the states? I just installed a set of the greddy spec kw's and from what ive read they seem to be based on the kw v3's but other than that i cant find any other info on them lol
I think DK swap the suspension for different situation. I have see video he use kw V3 for time trial. But for this video, maybe for street setup he use ST suspension

In fact we might have done over 150, I really don't remember. They aren't for me, but they are highly respectable from a drivers experience perspective.

It's nice to see Tsuchiya-sama open up his 86 to us. I personally am taking more of an Orido x Revolution Style route of tuning after seeing the various parts showcased here. Pairing Revolution's 5.1 Final Gear with a 1L Sprintex Supercharger and Orido's battery/fuse kit whilist upgrade to a 2way Suspension from Tein with active damper motors for daily driving gives this car an absolute JDM Hero Feel.

I have RCE Tarmac 2 coilovers on my 95' WRX. They are based on the KW V3 shock but with linear valving and linear springs. Despite having a much stiffer spring rate, the comfort is nearly identical to stock in most conditions but feels much more responsive. The inox stainless steel is nice too because I will be running them through the winter. I can raise my car about 1/2 inch for winter and lower 2 inches in the summer. They are 2-way adjustable for damping. My only complaint is having to buy tophats separately but I still recommend them if you can afford it

I like the GT86 RC spec which is Japan only, it comes with steelies and unpainted (or maybe black) bumpers, best for modifying. LFA bumper on GT86 looks great.
Interested in knowing more about the fuses mentioned in the episode at Orido’s shop. Also wondering if there are any parts from Revolution on the car like the subframe bolts, and small hidden stuff like that.
ngl those fuses sounds like pure BS, it will only help/increase performance if the old fuses are already messed up imo. If fuses can really make the car more responsive then lots of aftermarket companies would've made it

In other video Where tsuchiya-san and orido-san rode a 86 with the new fuse, they felt a better response, at that time tsuchiya didn’t have it on its 86.
He also uses the revolution oil cooler. It's in bestmotoring hot verison, but revolution has disconnected that oil cooler. It mounts underneath the front bumper at an angle.
Torsen type diffs tend to be more street friendly as they don't affect NVH. Besides, they're plug-and-play and maintenance free aside from regular oil changes. They also require no adjustment unlike a plate-type diff such as the OS Giken. IMHO in a car that's mostly driven on the street the Torsen makes more sense.

Mr Tsuchiya, KW has all 3 versions from the get-go, however, they introduce them one by one so that you would spend money buying each version separately.
Max Orido sells a fuse kit that replaces the oem fuses and claims to improve throttle response and other aspects of the cars performance if I remember correctly, that’s what he has in has car, which was also mentioned in a previous video.

Any one know what type of handbrake this car has? From the video with Seika you can see that the handbrake doesn't lock in place when pulled. Instead you have to twist the button to get it to lock. Is there a name of this type of handbrake?

My friend who runs a shop says even with around 450 horsepower, there's still plenty of room for more. Hearing that got me interested in the GR86. Recently, a lightly tuned NA with just an ECU remap hit a top speed of 245 km/h. With a supercharger, I think it has the potential to reach 300. Work Emotion zr10 18x8.5 (due to the face and his tires are 235/40 I can tell the width must be x8.5), Don't know what offset but 18x8.5 only has +47 for 5x100 bolt pattern however if he changed his hubs to 5x114.3 its possible they can be +38 +32. Due to his modest modifications on his car and how sunk in the wheels look, I bet he has the +47 offset. My Advan TCiii's are 18X9.5 +45 and have a similar look in offset to his. ive owned my FRS since 2013 and I have so many modifications done to it and know practically everything to this platform, what can I say I love it! hahaha DK owning it and loving it just lets me know its a great car hands down. hes a living legend and he clearly sees the greatness in the fun low hp car!

This is very similar to my FR-S in terms of set up and looks. I run ST XTA and have the headlight and taillight upgrades from the kouki gen.

ive owned my FRS since 2013 and I have so many modifications done to it and know practically everything to this platform, what can I say I love it! hahaha DK owning it and loving it just lets me know its a great car hands down. hes a living legend and he clearly sees the greatness in the fun low hp car!
