That was so enjoyable to watch. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now. Thank you so much to Tsuchiya and Orido who have inspired so many people with their love of driving and AE86s in particular over so many years.
When orido drove tsuchiya's 86, that was some of the most wholesome footage I've ever seen. Regardless of what car you're into, we've all been there. Perfect
That's actually a goal I want to achieve. To say that "I've owned this car for 25 or so years". That's a tough goal for today's cars, and LA city driving. Most cars here die because of accidents. It may not be your fault, but man is it heart crushing when your baby goes. I felt like I let my car down for not being able to avoid the collision. But you can't win against physics and stupid people.
@@niceprince I had just installed a newly painted front bumper cover and new retro'd headlights with morimoto hid projectors when a huge deer launched itself into my front and driver side blowing out the windows, crumpling both driver doors and taking out part of the bumper, one headlight and fender. This was only a rav4 v6 but I had just finished the projector retro and bumper install that evening and was driving down a country backroad to test the projectors lol
Many people own their car for more than 30, most of them are not willing to spend money on newer cars, they probably hold some sentimental value instead of the car itself.
What a wonderful video. I loved hearing both Mr. Tsuchiya and Mr. Orido reminisce about their younger days, and reflect upon them. Their passion is unmistakable!
@@raytoy21 i know man but if you put the itb on b 18 engine (honda engine) its sound almost the same the itb make the magic(individual throttlr bodies)
it’s crazy that they mention a time where people made fun of the ae86 much like how there are so many people who make fun of the ft86 platform. history really repeating itself huh
Ae86 as a normal car was still amazing back in the 80s, even in the 90s most japanese cars with bigger displacements barely matched the power of ae86. EG6 sir ii is another example of powerful small displacement NA car. I mean how many NA 1.6 has 170hp today?
Great conversation and old time remembrances from both Mr Tsuchiya and Max. Growing up in the 80's and 90's generation, these cars and drivers really inspired our enjoyment for driving, especially with Japanese sports cars of this era. As well, watching episodes of Best Motoring and Hot version on DVD of course. Great to see a classic like the AE86 still being enjoyed! Just goes to show, its not just about the performance and speed, but also the feeling and emotions we get from driving older cars that's missing in many newer models.
Tsuchi always has the cleanest Hatchi with a built 7AG. Nothing but respect to the legend, homage. No car in the world posses a light balanced chassis that you feel so connected with at a fraction of the cost of anything close. Salute DK AE86 ❤️
This is an amazing video. It really goes to show to never forget your heritage. These racing legends are still satisfied and enjoying the AE86 as if they were young like myself. It's great to watch. Thanks for this English version!
What a wonderful video! Very good stories, humour and the essence of driving pleasure exemplified when Orido-san drives Tsuchiya-san's car. At the same it was emotional to see Tsuchyia-san humble and touched by the moment and the praise he receive. The response, the crescendo of sound, power and torque make driving a car like this an art like playing a musical instrument, which requires a lot of practice, developing skils and it never gets old. I recommend this video to all non car persons and all UE legislators who are in a hurry to push the internal combustion engine out in order to externalize enviroment pollution to poorer countries. I would rather plant 1 tree/month and have this itb music made by combustion. The petrol car is such a easy target for these people who lobbied diesel everywhere back in the nineties and noughties and now they lobby EVs as the single solution in the car industry.
When I bought my ae101 levin, I then realised why the 4age is loved by so many. The responsiveness and balance of the engine is what makes it one of the most unique power trains out there, not to mention the tuning potential! Only then do you realise that it has the potential to work in perfect harmony with a good suspension and brake setup etc. In my opinion, the AE chassis' are some of best drivers cars you can have!
I wanna see Keiichi's AE86 vs Quinn's ITB miata. It HAS to happen some day. Both love the color green, both love NA lightweight power. And both built the ultimate versions of their car. I really wish it would happen some day.
Thanks a lot for making these videos. The grin on Orido’s face when he took Tsuchiya’s 86 explains how much work and love would have gone into the car. They don’t make cars like these anymore!
What an amazing video, thank you for uploading and adding the subtitles. The subtitles made it so much better for us people who do not understand Japanese unfortunately. Anyways, keep up the good work CarPrime!
watching them both, just reinforces my love for cars in general. The two sides of the AE86 coin represented as a stock and a heavy tuned. But both, capturing the essence of the car. 6 2’ can’t press the clutch if seat backed. Owned a few and still have my 85 coupe and SC AW11 but my blk on blk 86 GTS hatchi has history. Easily chirp’d 4th and topped at 169 mph wish I had videos. Camaro’s and Mustangs couldn’t catch, heck a few built cars in 2005 couldn’t either. N/A 4AG topped out just before rev limiter kicked in. It’s covered in barn dust out back. Sold the 3 rib and got a small port with 35k with the T50 for 15 years. One day! Merry Christmas 🎄 just thinking what I really want for Christmas! A ride in my hatchi…
nothing but love between man and machine!!!! It makes me sad to think stuff like this will be gone for future generations when electric cars take over.
I'm so glad that I found this video. Thanks to Initial D, I've become better driver. Just listening and watching cartoon, how mad is that, right? I bought old Mitsubishi Colt Glxi from 1994 and implementing things they said in Initial D bring a completely different driving experience. The reason why I love ae86 is the sound of the engine 😍
that is love in one car for so long having it improved time by time. i hope my mrs will one day achieve cult status as your car. thanks for amazing story.
I love watching and seeing Tsuchiya. Keep it up
nothing but love between man and machine!!!! It makes me sad to think stuff like this will be gone for future generations when electric cars take over.
Thanks for sharing both of these awesome cars with us.Such clean and awesome cars
that was extremely enjoyable to watch
I'm so glad that I found this video. Thanks to Initial D, I've become better driver. Just listening and watching cartoon, how mad is that, right? I bought old Mitsubishi Colt Glxi from 1994 and implementing things they said in Initial D bring a completely different driving experience. When I found out that the Drift King was involved in this series, I understand why it is working in real life. Well done and thank you Mr. Drift Kind for your passion. Have a fun behind the wheel everyone 👋
