Azzaro Pour Homme Review | Azzaro Pour Homme by Azzaro Fragrance Review
This is my Azzaro Pour Homme Review video. My long overdue Azzaro Pour Homme by Azzaro Fragrance Review. Have you tried Azzaro Pour Homme? This is a classic powerhouse aromatic fougere fragrance from 1978. Azzaro Pour Homme was the second fragrance release from Azzaro and the first ever men's fragrance from Azzaro. Azzaro Pour Homme has a lot of history with me as both my dad and uncle wore the scent. I remember especially my uncle wearing it to go out on dates with young ladies as he took them to clubs to dance. After he left I'd steal sprays from his bottle. I especially enjoyed the green aromatic herbal and spicy notes in Azzaro Pour Homme. Especially anise or star anise note here which makes it a unique aromatic fougere and that's what I love about this. Azzaro Pour Homme is also a compliment getter. Ladies and men turn heads when you walk past them. So if you've curious about Azzaro Pour Homme now is time to try this classic men's cologne!
    Azzaro
    Pour Homme
    Concentration: Eau De Toilette
    Size: 100ml
    Price: $85 Suggested Retail
    Year Launched: 1978
    Perfumers/Noses:
Gérard Anthony, Martin Heiddenreich, Richard Wirtz
    Style:
    Aromatic Fougere
Top Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Star Anise
    Middle Notes: Patchouli, Lavender, Vetiver
Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk
Fougere derives from the French word for Fern. The first fougere was created by Paul Parquet in 1882 with Houbigant’s Fougere Royale. He extracted the synthetic component coumarin from the Tonka Bean to create Houbigant’s Fougere Royale. So he was basically trying to create the smell of ferns which ferns never had any smell. Coumarin smells like a fresh-mowed lawn.
Two flankers from the last 5 years that I also love are
Azzaro Pour Homme Intense in EDP from 2015
Azzaro Pour Homme Edition Noire from 2017
As always please watch, rate, comment and share this video and please subscribe to this channel goo.gl/xWnYzi if you haven't yet. And please stay tuned for more videos and giveaways real soon! Azzaro Pour Homme fragrance was sent to me for this review. The views and opinions are all my own. If you are curious to try Azzaro Pour Homme please buy or obtain samples or decants prior to purchasing a full bottle. What I might like you might not like and vice versa. So I cannot guarantee you will react the same way to this fragrance as I have in this video. Thank you.

I had worn it in the beginning of my fragrance journey and the barbershop opening put me off because I associated it with the (cheap) Old Spice kinda smell. Also, as a younger guy, I was heavily into gourmands at the time. Eventually, after 'growing' somewhat bored of gourmands, I tried this simply because it was lying there in the closet doing nothing. The beauty and complexity of this absolute masterpiece hit me like a truck. There are times when I spray this on my wrists while at home, watching TV, simply so I can enjoy the progression from top to base once more; and the base, oh the glorious base!! It's absolutely to die for! Thank you for the trip down memory-lane.

Never understood the "gourmand" hype train. Just could never get past the whole wearing of a fragrance that was so similar to an edible substance. I know that is a very blunt and vague way of explaining that style of fragrance, but I am glad you broadened your scent horizons. ✊🏻👌🏻✌🏻

oh I definitely smelt this one somewhere when I was a kid... not my style, but definitely a classic. I can imagine 70+ businessmen wearing this mostly. Not really the kind of classic I would want to play around with tho, but definitely a nice lavender dry-down there. Reminds me of freshly ironed white shirts

Sebastian , I'm watching your video 5 years later, lol. I think us older men love Azzaro Pour Homme because it's so nostalgic of our youth. For me it's my #1 fragrance for fall, nothing beats that star anise spiciness and lavender combo! I now only have the current formulation, as I finished my vintage bottle long ago. I am now looking to get another vintage bottle.

I wore this 2 days ago. It lasts a while on me as well. My mood was hyper-masculine so my choices were split between an Aqua Di Parma, Drakkar Noir, L'aventure, Coolwater and this. If I still had Quorum, that would have been my pick.

The top notes of this fragance are between citric and minty, the anise and basil then the bergamot and lemon a very fresh and clean smell also the heart note of vetiver add more to that clean smell, then the transition is very woody and with some spicy smell of cardamom & tonka the woody smell is mostly cedarwood and sandalwood this fragance is very complex.

Then I went to the US with my family and randomly found the exact same sense at Macy's 15 years ago. Now I know Azzaro Pour Homme is name of that sample and I wear it everyday. Straight out disco or classic rock, Tom Selleck mustache, haired chest and flannel shirt frag... Heck yeah. I am 19 years old and i currently own fougeres like PR Pour Homme and Drakkar Noir, this last one i actually think takes certain inspiration from good ol' Azzaro like the lavender, leather, wood and anise stuff (In the case of Drakkar it's another herb and not particularly anise...)
I will add it to my collection next, since i already got a couple of modern compliment pullers like Versace Pour Homme (Which i'll use this summer, love it on heat) and Invictus... Still, i prefer fougeres and classic perfumery above modern tendencies. This Azzaro is indeed a mature scent, still not screaming animalic, neither ultraheavy... Even being young i think you can pull it out nicely since it's not a harassing smell. You will still smell clean, old school but clean at the end of the day. I also think it's pretty darn versatile, along most frags that era... Wear it to dates, casual night out, to the bar, maybe not to a modern young club since young people salmost surely will automatically say "old man smell!" even semiformal, to the office, meeting your girlfriend's parents... (Your girl's dad will think when smelling you "Damn this guy has a nice taste on colognes") Works also pretty nicely on almost all climates, just don't use on extreme heat or extreme cold... All the way in between, it's a solid shot.

I love this one too; that dry down is unstoppable! It’s a proud mainstay in my collection. I feel downright virile when wearing it.
Having tried this one first, I do feel that Rive Gauche is a softer, perhaps smoother version of this. However, I think I prefer the stronger and more extroverted Azzaro for this style of fragrance.

Own a 1 oz bottle of it. Bought it along with a 1 oz bottle of "Burberry men".. got both ounces for under 40 bucks. Had only owned 1 Azarro fragrance. It is called "chrome". Anyways, I had seen a review on this one, and heard it was that throwback "barbershop" style scent. I have a vast collection, at least for me, and I figured why not add this one. Was pleasantly surprised. A decent addition. Not one I'd wear every day, but i fit it in my throwback category with "farenheit", "polo green", issey miyaki "l'eau bleu d'issey pour homme", etc. I only own like 5 barbershop scents. This one gets worn after a shower around the house, or to church every now and again. A projection beast. 3 sprays, half the day..

Been wearing this fragrance for years and as you say, it’s still an attention-grabber. My question tho is, the bottle you’re handling is one of two I just purchased. The silver-band contents do not smell as strong as the others I have without the band. And since I just purchased one as it happens without, the difference is obvious. Also, the LOGO on the silver band one is NOT the same. The base line is quite narrow. Companies don’t (usually) mess with logos. So, you’re holding the same bottle, therefore may I assume it IS indeed a legitimate (and not counterfeit) product? Thanks for your help and for your tips here.

Love this house. APH is to this day my favourite and one of the most completed from back in the day. Girls in the club actually used to stop in their tracks to sniff.

Hey Sebastian does Azzaro pour homme intense resemble halston z-14 in any way with the cinnamon? I am repulsed by z-14 but was enticed by your reference to the intense version. Cheers from Vegas

I am sure that we do have some Azzaro at home while growing up but not exactly sure which ones. Tried this one a few months back and I remember that it was a soap bomb on my skin. But on paper it was similar to LIDGE which I find a bit odd.

Am I the only one getting Brut from this? I love the smell of Brut anyway. But I'm wondering if I'm gonna get Brut stigma from people.

Does anyone have knowledge whether the lavender is natural or synthetic?

I certainly remember this fragrance. It’s a bold one for sure. I never thought of it as a Fougere.....has it been reformulated since?? I love Fougeres also, anything with lavender.

Hi Sebastian, thank you so much for the review. I was wondering what you think about the Edition Noire? How does it compare to the Intense and the original? I have no way to test it here in Norway, as I can only order it online. And once I open it, no more refund... It's relatively cheap here, but I was thinking about waiting for the new trio instead of getting the Edition Noire... Any comments would be highly appreciated.

Really love it, just the Intense (1992) version which is really long lasting, it is real old-school type scent, but not out dated by any means. And Intense Parfum (2015) is just incredible, like you said, no one knows or talks about it, but yet at the same time it is rare fragrance at least in Europe.
Seen a post on Edition Noire sometimes ago with incredibly sounding notes, should be really good and different, well unexpected from Azzaro, would be really nice to see a review on it.
I really like Sliver Black/Onyx which is really unique and interesting.

I have not tested the current formulation of Drakkar Noir. So for me right now it would be Azzaro Pour Homme. Will have to see how Drakkar Noir is soon! :)
